Gem casually hitting pearl with a sword and then flipping every trapdoor in her reach after taking some resources is the most sibling behavior I’ve ever seen
Since your area is supposed to be a moody, slightly creepy fishing village, I think it would really help atmospherically, if you turned some attention to what's *under water* - as in: If you turned some of that dirt and sand into mud blocks, the water would look much darker, greyer, more mysterious.

Some information for you! Ships or just wood in general tend to not rot when deep underwater due to lack of oxygen. Once you pull wood from a shipwreck up it will rot rather quickly as it gains oxygen again. It’s why in archeological research they immediately put pieces of wood under water again if they find it. (They will slowly replace the water with chemicals so they eventually don’t have to submerge it and can actually reconstruct and all those things.) It’s also why docks are more rotten above water than underwater. Maybe you could do something with that!
I like the idea that a giant died here a few thousand years ago. You’d see the skull formed into rock, but you’d also find more giant fossils in the area. So I like to imagine you have a rib cage or arm or femur (or just the suggestion of one) nearby where it could have realistically settled. The fossilized remnants of neck and spine could make a really visually interesting entrance that frames the doorway very tightly, but would make skull mountain feel less floaty/physically impossible, while forcing the eye to look through the portal. Especially if the inside is dark but with pops of magical color and sparkle, such as like amethyst with crying obbie and respawn anchors, purple glass, pearlescent frog lights, etc
Etho is such a mad scientist! His understanding of the game mechanics and his creativity in exploiting them is unmatched! The "accidental" arena is absolutely amazing Gem!!
The accidental training arena (TATA) is also just compositionally a really cool space. The way the skull sits in the middle and the arena is framed by the beautiful guard shack on the right and the shipwreck on the left. Such a cool space.

Watching that little PvP brawl is one of the reasons I like the Life Series. Because there really does feel like the chance that anyone can win. Gem is generally considered to be pretty scary at PvP. And there was a moment in that where Scar bested her and went on to loose to Skizz. There is enough similarity in the skills of all the players that one extra crit here and one extra miss there, and it’s possible any player can best any other player in combat. I like that more random element to it.
@@Marcus_Postma Well in the last Season she lost in her PvP matches to Cub, False and Hypno. And with the addition of Joel, that’s 5 very good PvPers. Also pretty sure Pearl was pretty competitive with her. And Iskall is no slouch either. The point of my comment was more so say that, even when you have someone as good at PvP as Gem who is very good at PvP, it’s possible for her to loose against someone who in average is worse than her at PvP because of the random variation that can happen in fights.

I love the collaboration this episode! So many hermits it was a treat. I feel like ever since Pearl and Gem joined the crew everyone has been connecting more and I love it.
Gem is trapped in a cycle of "Gem has to clean up the beach -> people come to pvp Gem at the beach -> GeminiSlay makes a new skull pile at the beach -> Gem has to clean up the beach" 😆
This season of Hermitcraft is like the one year in college when you and all your friends manage to get assigned to the same dorm and just live in each others' pockets all year long, but without all the drama over laundry. I love the accidental arena and the rest of the new terrain!
Honestly, all this training that Gem is giving is giving me a sliver of hope that team TIES has a prayer in the PVP games in MCC this weekend, I'm so hoping that it works!
Thing is, gem isn’t necessarily the greatest PVP player in the whole of the community. When paired against people like Purpled or Technoblade (RIP), she would get trounced most of the time. She’s competent for sure, but far from the best unfortunately. But compared to all these redstone nerds? She beats ‘em by a mile. All this to say that while her training is certainly helpful, it probably isn’t going to do anything but put them on a level playing field to the average MCC player. But hopefully that will be enough.
Let's be real though. How many of the hermits are actually at that level that can beat the Dream's and Techno's of the world? Maybe 2 being Grian and Iskall? Sure there are other half decent hermits but among PVPers on the Hermitcraft server I'd consider Gem to be top 7
@@nicholashalom1632 none are at that top level. Those top players like purpled spend hours and hours training their PVP skills specifically, which is what leads to a team of them getting 100 win streaks in sky battle. Grian is good for a hermit, perhaps too 30%, but realistically he’s not at that level and won’t be without putting in the time training (unless that’s what he was doing while fishing).
I'm loving all the interactions this season. There's so many more than there's been past seasons and I'm all for it. The terraforming is looking fantastic as well.
Gem's PvP strat is absolute genius. If you keep your enemy at a higher Z level you can still hit them while they can't hit you (since you technically aim from the head). So never critting is actually POG.

the texturing around the skull is looking great! i think the reintroduction of brown really helps highlight the contrast bedtween the backdrop terrain and the main thematic skull. could deffo benefit from even more contrast if you introduce muted whites extremely conservatively like diorite/birch/calcite/clay/gravel/mushroom stem to the points of the skull which would essentially be hiighlighted by light and transition it back into the main grey colors with lichen and your block palette gradients. The natural shadows created by the block topography provide some contrast between the skull and backdrop already, and your block palette has really great shadow blocks, just needs a bit more highlight blocks to really amp the contrast and emphasize the topography
I just want to day it's no doubt heartening for a lot of hermitcraft fans to see mistakes happen, builds don't come out perfect first time and things evolve through trial and error. I love that we're seeing less litematica 3d printed megabuilds and enjoying the more natural process of design, draft, edit etc
