      Especially since he's using dwarves so heavily.

    I literally just started playing this map on the "Tower" side of things. Oddly enough, I was able to take the 2nd town (to the East of your beginning point) on day ONE (no joke). I didn't use anything but the golems from Josephine (2nd hero in tavern), and the gremlin workshops on the map. My primary hero (Solmyr) took the wood mine using only minimal troops because--luckily enough--it was only guarded by PIXIES. :) Now that was lucky. From there, I started building town halls and so forth, and quickly ended up with giants built. I saved as many gems as I could and had already taken the mine in the ice between the towns on day one as well. After eventually upgrading to Titans a few weeks later, I went through the tunnels to the subterranean center and popped out near the Castle (or archer-pikeman whatever) towns. They were NOT prepared. I lost some Master Genies, but... whaddya expect?! :D Angels were built shortly afterward in both towns. Now... I imagine that the deficit of gems will truly be EXTREME!

    I just don't understand why you leave som stuff behind. At 13:10 you could have taken the artifact for +1 speed but just ignore it

      I completely agree! Many “elite” players have this habit which I strongly believe is a bad one. Leaving gold, resources and artifacts behind when it’s basically within one or two steps reach. The rationale is to save movement points on key heroes and getting the scouting heroes to pick them up later. However, this invariably leads to misses as one simply can’t remember everything. Then you will see them running out of gold or resources later on and having to buy them at market place at exorbitant exchange rate. Also, when these thing are left behind and an enemy hero comes along, even if he’s too weak to take your town or defeat your hero, he can always sweep along the way and grab these gold, resources or artifact that are left behind. So when I play, I always grab everything (unless I don’t need and don’t intend to ever take it) if it’s along the way or within 1-2 steps of reach. Using this video as an example, ignoring the pile of gold outside the town (ie not getting either of the two heroes nearby to pick it up) at 23:14 and then running out of gold to upgrade the centaurs immediately the next turn and having to buy gold at market place by trading resources at 25:48.

      @@backflipmann I gave the explanation in my post. The strategy is fine so long as you don’t forget about what you planned to do.

      @@mikeyshanghai9801 Yeah agreed, and that is the main problem, as you said it is virtually impossible for a human to remember exactly what has been left behind!

      Wayyy late on this but I think part of it is that certain behaviors (like the movement saving stuff) become automatic behaviors that you don't actually think about, you just do things in a certain way because it's the "right" way to play. But when it's automatic, you're not thinking about it, and you do it even when it's actually a terrible idea.
      There's also the whole distraction of narrating for the sake of a video (and any other recording considerations). That's a mental diversion it's easy to forget about when you're just watching.

    • @philips.s.4780
      @philips.s.4780 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      HD Edition on steam =/= HD mod.
      HD Edition on steam is not particularly good. It doesn't include the expansions or later patches- only the balance tweaks. It also lacks the numerous fan patches and improvements.
      The Complete version on GoG includes all the expansions. Get that, then download the HD mod.
