I am looking for a simple-to-operate Bluetooth speaker with decent volume and good bass. These will live in a wash bay so they need to be outdoor or marine speakers. Any suggestions are welcomed!

Well you bought an old model. The 2024 is SZJW-US-602BTB.
I am a bit of an audiophile and absolutely love them over the hot tub for the price, whether getting audio from the projector or a phone.

power ratings are misleading in many products like this. THe 400W rating is a peak figure, pushing the power supply to a maximum rating with the highest dynamic musical peak. The kind of power level that the amplifier can handle for a fraction of a second at most. Even so it's likely still highly inflated in this case, just a number plucked out of thin air. Genuine products will give an RMS power rating, per channel in the case of stereo or multi-channel systems, and will usually quote that figure with reference to the total harmonic distortion given at that power level. For example, 50W at 0.1% total harmonic distortion (THD). These are just basically cheap Chinese speakers with a generic low-power amplifier and bluetooth module inside and probably a severely underrated power supply. You could do a lot better.

Those speakers are really nice. You told people you have to plug it & unplug it which is not true. They have a power button, mode button & you was completely negative from the start. Your looking for $1000 sound & want to spend $150 bucks.

I got Herdio ceiling 418 BT and i would say they are crap. I know ceiling speakers can't produce a deep bass, but there's no bass at all in those. Well, it's very low i would say. However, Not recommended.

In my experience the dewalt jobsite radios definitely have better sound than the Milwaukee ones, but JBL is definitely better yet.

The individual powered speakers will never match true individual components.
Why not use a Bluetooth/SD-card capable car stereo unit with sealed wired 6X9 boat speakers.

That is what I’ve grown up with people doing, and going further with computer powersupplys and car subwoofers, you really need powered pa speakers to get a good single unit with a lot of power but still a deck and a pair of 6/9’s and 2 12’s is a better shop stereo

Just installed mine in the new pergola on the patio and the sound and volume are amazing for the price. My lot is one acre, my secondary firepit is about half way out and the sound is still incredible. You must have gotten and old or possible defective set unfortunately. I would highly recommend, and my boys 30 and 34 are going home to buy sets for their patios.

These are like a cheap $40 drop shipped product, look at a mini amplifier with eq and Dayton audio outdoor speakers from parts express

I believe the reason for the audio quality came up was when the speakers were set to Bluetooth, the generic pairing sound, and announcement.

glad you gave an honest review, you can tell all the other review for these speakers the people installing them dont know what decent audio should sound like.

Check out this speaker model from Herdio. SZJW-601B-US
Yes, it will require a head unit/amp, but that is more convenient for me (easier to run speaker wire than power, or have to worry about charging speakers). I have these outside for my hot tub and have zero complaints. Loud with good bass

I've given up on portable Bluetooth speakers. None seem to have the quality I want.

!! Why don't you just Go "Pro audio"! It's as simple as going down to your local second hand shops or what have u and get a decent Stereo Receiver that works well for cheap say under USD$100 or so and get a set of Pro Audio Speakers that are waterproof and built for Outdoor Environments. Used ones can be had for cheap as well and there is a Wide Variety and Sizes. The Receiver can be placed somewhere it is dry and away from moisture and you can get cheap Bluetooth Connectivity boxes as an addon from companies such as Logitech, JBL, Bose etc !
