I have B&W 801 speakers in my house and love the sound and bought the zeppelin. Disappointed is all I can say for the price. I think it was nothing more than slapping their name on something they didn’t build or design just to get into that market. Also I bought the apple one first and it sounded as good as my alarm clock
HAH. When it comes to 801s they can cost tens of thousands. It’s unfortunate the Zeppelin isn’t near that level of sound quality, but can you blame them for not achieving higher while selling these for £600 a pop?
I have the mini and always wanted its bigger brother but couldn’t justify the price tag. I’ve now purchased one in immaculate condition for £60 delivered. That is an absolute steal for a speaker of this quality and whilst I’m sad to demote the mini from the kitchen to my bedside table, it’s just so awesome finally getting the product I always wanted. Age in some cases makes no odds, something that sounded great 10 years ago…guess what, still sounds awesome!

Also have smaller zeppelin speaker as a laptop sound speaker and it works well for last 5 years as well.
I bought one 2 months ago, it does sounds great. My iPod classic 5.5 does not recognize it as an “official” device and won’t play on it, anyone have a work around? Yes, I can play it thru the input in the back, but you know…
I have the Zeppelin Air and the Apple.I do admit the B&W has a much better sound but the Apple I believe is louder. Have them next to each other and they both perform well.
Sound quality is (only a little, but still noticeably) better on the Air. The first Version has a silver back whereas the Air’s is black. There’s one more port on the Air I believe, I think it’s coaxial, but not 100% sure. Not a particularly useful connection in my house.
Have had both the Air and Wirelsss since new, and 2 pairs of floor standers by B&W. All sounds great. Portability is excellent. Air can do digital via 3.5mm jack and 24/94, so find a Chromecast audio and you’re set. I even shipped it back for an amp repair and had it upgraded to lightning from 30-pin. Keep the Air away from a rear wall for better bass, due to the rear ports.
yeah I meant to say every classic ever made :) my bad. btw I had a chance to own both of the speakers once and I admit the zep air sounded better, especially the bass (punchy but not muddy at all). Keep up the great work!
What a coincidence, I just bought one, because I always wanted to have one. Luckily, they are so cheap to get. Unfortunately, I can’t update it, so it don’t work with the BW-Control App, which I use for my BW Z2. So AirPlay doesn’t work, but hey: I still have the AUX 😊
Very nice video about this amazing speaker. I would call this Zeppelin Air the best speaker in the last 30 years (except the passive speakers whatever the size of them). I have two of them, one with 30 pin, one with lightning port, both of them in incredible shapes and function. I rotate them every 2-3 months, to keep them 'warm' (capacitors). I use them exclusively on TosLink port with an Apple TV where I stream music from. I eliminate this way all the potential lag of AirPlay 1. I have one question nobody seem to answer ever: - How is the newest Zeppelin comparing to this in term of sound, of low bass frequencies? Is the new one worse than this? That's what I expect honestly.... Another question: How can I put them to work in stereo mode, over TosLink or 3.5mm audio port? I want to have left and right, each Zeppelin to be one side. Any solutions on this? All the marketing papers and videos online, everyone is paid to explain how much nicer the newest Zeppelin is bla bla bla....but nobody seem passionate about to say the reality in numbers, but the real numbers, not what the company advertises in perfect environments tests. I wonder how low the new one goes in bass but, I expect not to be outmatched with the Air model.
Hey sorry for the late reply. Nice setup! I can’t speak on the quality of the newer one as I’ve never heard it. I have to assume that because a decade or so has passed, it’s better in every way, but would love to test one out. To run them in stereo mode you’ll have to setup a stereo configuration either with computer software, or an AV/R that can output 3.5mm audio in a surround setup. That’s all I can really say on the matter. I wouldn’t recommend using them in stereo normally, but since you have two already, it might be worth spending $10-50 to get them working together as I’m sure they’ll sound good. Hope this helps!
That’s a great video. I owned OG Zepellin which I upgraded to B&W A7 around 2013. At the time of purchase I had both Air and A7 for the demo and preferred the latter, finding them more engaging especially the mids were more euphonic and lush without being muddy and they dig deep too. I still have them and although I have a fairly nice 2 ch system but they still bring a smile to my face and I say that’s solid return on investment after almost 10 years of ownership. I think something else your viewers could look in to for a good bargain. Avoid A5, they were crap lol😂

hay man i have both and i can honestly say. b&w is beating by miles. hifi pod nice video and people should consider legacy stuff when they have built quality this item works well with roon and if u want you can add on. chromecast to aux and u will have. two devices in one so u will be able to communicate with android devices 😂

what exactly is the difference between the first version Zeppelin and the air version?

@@flamner AirPlay 1. It’s backwards compatible, so new devices will work with it fine - just a little slow.

The Zeppelin Air also had a Lightning version which is slightly more useful today (unless you have an iPhone 15, in which they both have USB)
What a coincidence, I just bought one, because I always wanted to have one. Luckily, they are so cheap to get. Unfortunately, I can’t update it, so it don’t work with the BW-Control App, which I use for my BW Z2. So AirPlay doesn’t work, but hey: I still have the AUX 😊
