I remember riding quads to Concrete City then zipping over to the Huber Breaker to check that out. Amazing piece of history. I have pictures from that day! We went back before they finished demolishing it and got some final views before they tore it completely down.
My grandmothers company picnics were here. As, a kid, I liked the old Victorian rides at park, and the big pavilion. The river beside it you could go on boat rides, you can see the water moccasins peeping out if the water.
Westinghouse was a powerful economic force that produced many innovative products, from radio tubes to nuclear rocket engines. It provided good jobs for many thousands of people. I was fortunate to have worked at Westinghouse Bettis, East Pittsburgh, and Westinghouse Instrument Service Co. in my career. The really smart folks worked at the Research and Development center, located just off I-376 in Churchill.
I went to church in the 1980s with several people who worked for Westinghouse Nuclear. They made a good living working there until Westinghouse closed it down.
My memories of Ashley and of the Huber Coal mines go back to the 50s. My grandmother on my mother's side lived there with her husband who had retired from that mine. My sister and I would be left there when my mother was having more babies. We would take walks every day with grandpa on the tracks that the coal cars travelled from the Huber mine. He gave us baskets and he carried a bucket which he would put the coal we found along the tracks after he threw away any shale that we mistakenly picked up. When we finished the walk, he would empty the coal bucked into the coal bin in the basement. At six years old, I didn't understand that he had figured out how to take a walk and eliminate his heating bill!
They used Denton Hill for the Eastern Traditional Archery Rendezvous from 1989 to 2019 in July. It moved to Ski Sawmill in 2021 and is still happening every year.
I know these weren't in this video but as a redsident of bucks county I was disappointed when I went to visit the abandoned byberry asylum complex only to find out half of it was already demolished. Same thing with the abandoned town of centralia. I've never gone there but now there's really no point since they already tore down all the buildings. I've never been to "ghost town" before.
I know you are aware but for folks who might want to visit Graffiti Pier: A large portion of the pier collapsed, crumbling into the river. This makes the pier itself a little more hazardous. The pier IS still owned by Conrail and visiting the pier is still trespassing. Since the collapse they have stepped up enforcement, putting up new fences and gates as well as signage. Yes enforcement has always been lax, and even if you did get confronted they usually just kicked you off. But if you see any CSX or NS bulls out there now, don't let them see YOU, they will trespass you. That is of course if the "locals" don't get you first. There isn't always an encampment there, but when there IS they're generally not the nicest folks.
Would love to explore the Huber Breaker, too bad it was demolished 10 years ago, followed by the St. Nicholas Breaker.Might as well add Grafitti Highwqay to the list too. Maybe check the status of the sites before posting a video about them.
You talked about Williams Grove, but failed to say that the wooden coaster was torn down years ago AND that there is still a flea market there, as well as other activities. I've lived here my whole life, please state ALL of the facts if you're going to make a FACTUAL video. Thank you.
Eyes got a friend who lives dahn ner in Forest ills. Weze graduated from Penn ills a'nat. Eys aht n Ohio nah. I guess it's at the old Westinghouse Nuclear Research site. Exit at 30, Greensburg Pike, or Churchill when heading outbound on the Parkway East.
It's better art than the art people pay for, like some weirdo throwing a bucket of paint, or stacking buckets of sand and slicing the bottom one open so it spills. That's not art nor talent. Graffiti actually takes still to look good
Since there is no such thing as ghosts(never been proven to exist), nothing is haunted including abandoned sites. There are abandoned, not haunted. Quit equating abandoned with haunted. Otherwise, as a PA native, I find your videos interesting.

you showed Williams Grove Speedway in the footage of WG amusement park. The race track is very much alive
thanks for pointing out
I live a 5 minute walk from the Atom Smasher, if you want to get to it there is a hole cut in the fence across the street from tugboats.
Grew up in Williamsgrove park

I love your clips, I live in Pennsylvania, Lehigh valley. There is so much in so many states that are abandoned.
I'm in Wilkes-Barre, about an hour away. Lots of history here in Pennsylvania.
I'm only minutes away from Rickets Glen State Park in the Pikes Creek area.
The Huber Breaker is a legal site to visit. They cleaned it up not to many years ago.
Glad you like them!
Williams Grove used to have a flea market there when it was abandon, seeing the old rides were really cool...
Still does
.every sunday...
I knew I recognized Cliff's video haha. Beginning around 5:49 is The Wandering Woodsman's trip to the dam posted a few months ago.
yep, credits to him :)
I said the same thing that's Cliff the wandering dude
I was born and raised in Ashley PA we either called it the breaker or Blue Coal, I called it blue coal. It was soooo cool going to the top level!

I learned to ski at Denton many years ago and still go to Williams Grove for races.

Thanks for the information
I read somewhere a year or so ago that Denton Hill was being revived?
@@wigwam622 sure is

Graffiti pier fell into the water this summer.
0:56 Someone lives in the amusement park?
1:38 Heh, I like the "cross", seems to say "if you get this far up in your train, you better start praying!"
I went to St. Francis University in Loretto PA. It is a fascinating trip through time..
Pennsylvania is city of hidden gems you will never complain about :)

Everything is in eastern PA
What about western PA with abandoned steel mills?
will also cover in next videos. stay tuned
I like your videos
means a lot.
It’s an absolute disgrace how they let the Westinghouse atom smasher fall into such a state
true.

How about the abandoned town of Centralia?
already covered in previous videos
always wanted to go the The Pier. Is it true that a chunk of it collapsed?
yes.

Graffiti Highway is already covered in our previous videos. I suggest you to watch them:)

I live right down the street from the Atom Smasher
oh hi buddy :)

A dystopian movie could be made out of parts of Pennsylvania...!
Lol
Graffiti pier isn't art. It's an eyesore.
Graffiti should be an imprisonable offense. If it was art, you would supply your own "canvas".
It's better art than the art people pay for, like some weirdo throwing a bucket of paint, or stacking buckets of sand and slicing the bottom one open so it spills. That's not art nor talent. Graffiti actually takes still to look good
It’s art karen
Having a name like Travel Awaits You and featuring places that no longer exist makes absolutely no sense.
#1 definitely should have been Bethlehem steel🙄🙄
wait for the next video
Can't visit graffiti pier anymore. Part of the pier collapsed into the river. :(
yep, it's not that safe now
STREET ART!!!! It is vandalism and abandoned places should be left as it was.
🙄
2:15 oh yeah artists...
Anyone wanna go to Centralia pa
Willow Grove closed in 1975
Video is outdated at best...
You're boring at best
2;16, they are not artist, they are vandals! There is a difference!!
Thank you!
Lol you've never seen it, you wouldn't know it existed 🤡
Wrong. That is literally what its for. If you can't see that you are the problem.
NOTHING in Philadelphia interests me. Especially a bunch of garbage graffiti
Just a comment for the algorithm
thanks Brad.
Good thing that dam didn't see any use how thin it looked
True that!
A.i voice over is annoying.
AI-generated word salad
Mind wasn’t blown. Stop using AI voices.
All are monuments to failure no one wants to be reminded of.

glad you liked them
Because you've never seen a ghost you don't believe
Gravity has never been proven to exist either so what's your point
@anthonyhumbert8787 gravity surely does exist and so do ghosts
God you must be so fun at parties doctor buzzkill.
That fake overlay of dust and specks to make the videos look old is annoying. Please stop using it.
Street Artists!?!?!? Vandals is more like it!
I really like your videos but please stop calling them artist, call them what they are VANDALS!
