My mom and my aunts visited Willow Grove Park often when they were kids. My mom shared with me that the park eventually closed to due a unfortunate fatal accident involving a patron who died on a ride. I am not sure if this has been confirmed or not. However, she and my aunts shared fond memories on how they loved going to the amusement park and the multiple things one could do there at the time.
Thanks for sharing
Watching this video in hummels wharf
great
I went with my good friend and saw the outside of the Old Jail Museum, because that particular day there were no tours. Still got a few pics of it. Very creepy. Eastern State Penitentiary and Gettysburg are haunted, obviously. We had a private ghost tour of gettysburg and we used dousing rods and ghost recordings to hear voices. Also, another tour guide said our hotel we stayed at was haunted. They say our faucet turns on itself. We came back from the one tour and it was already running.
thanks for your comment
Coool
Thanks

Lakemont Park in Pennsylvania didn't make it in the video
Check previous video
I'm originally from Johnstown Pennsylvania. I worked at the Lower Cambria works of the former Bethlehem Steel railroad axle plant. The Blacksmith shop which is in this video is dated from 1854 I believe. I had been in it a few times before 1992 when Bethlehem Steel started closing down their operations in Johnstown. I was working in the axle plant for Trinity Industries when demolition crews where tearing down coke ovens and buildings on location. It was eye opening and sobering to watch the last embers of the fires of the Industrial Revolution pass into History.
Thanks for sharing
Loved Lenape Park!!
Glad to know that
Like the other commenters, the mispronouncing of place names is really annoying. Why not have a human from Pennsylvania do it?
we're working on it
What about Indian Trail Park? My grandparents used to take me there in the 60's.

7abandoned mills, 400 derelict towns, 4 crapholes Philly Pittsburgh and Reading and York ....and some neglected State forest lands.... YEP thats PA.
will check it out
I went to West Point Park twice as a child. My father's employer held their company picnic there. Great memories. I've also been to Willow Grove Park but only for the demolition. My employer had a contract to dismantle the western show section which he brought back and had plans to rebuild outside of Quakertown as little shops. We also cut miles of copper wire from the rides which he made scrap money from. We would go to Dorney Park in the Allentown area because it was closer, I wonder if it still around?
Thanks for sharing your memories!
You missed an eighth one, Cascade Park in New Castle PA.
We'll check it out for next time.
this video is being used for scams, be aware!!!

Missed Williams Grove….

I grew up in Chester County near Lenape Park. I was a teenager when the park closed and became a Picnic Park for private parties. I never got to ride the roller coaster because in the early 1970s the coaster went of the rails and sailed into the Brandywine River. Or at least that's what my older bother told me. The site was renamed Brandywine Picnic Park sometime in the 1980s and there were a few rides left behind. I know for a fact the spinning teacups were still around in 1982 because I rode them that summer. The picnic park lasted into at least the early 2010s and the owners finally gave up on the property because it kept getting flooded. Most the debris you showed is from one of the floods.
Thanks for the memories!
Yes they had an amazing Merry-Go-Round and old bumper cars. I did ride the roller coaster which was said to be the second oldest wooden roller coaster but I don't know if that was true. I grew up in the late 60s and 70s
Use larger letters, my eyes arent what they once were!!
sure
What about Allenwood steel in Conshohocken?
I moved to King of Prussia in 1980 and met a young lady who's father just lost his job at Allenwood . I got him a job where I worked and were great friends till he passed
My uncle’s company used to have their picnic at West Point. I loved their Paratrooper and their coaster, Jumper. I won two goldfish in the a game there. Their names were Goldie and Tabor (after the Avenue in Philadelphia). I was so disappointed that it closed.
Mermaid park another one I grew up with. I don’t know if it’s there anymore. It was a swimming group and it was some of both and amusement park as well.
thanks for the suggestion
Thank you for taking my idea this was the best pace I grew up with
youre welcome
Did i miss a video with white swan park?

I live in south central PA, never visited much of western PA, just drive thru some on our way to other places.
thanks for your comment
Great video! I made a short video on a defunct amusement park! There was a time in Pennsylvania that these small “parks” were nearby most towns.
thank you
There was once a Carsonia Park (accent on the 'o') at the southeastern edge of Reading, Berks County. It was built in the 1890's by a trolley service (Union Traction Co.) to increase ridership and lasted until 1950.
thanks for the suggestion
It’s pronounced Munnesun ;)
thanks for the correction
Weak video history. The collapse of the US steel industry was bought on by lack of innovation and overcapacity also greed. The US steel industry refused to downsize and invest in the future till it was too late.
thanks for your comment
All caused by politicians selling us out.
:-
So sad to hear The Blue Streak is gone, so sad about Conneaut's decline, our family loved to go there
it is sad actually
As Children, my Brother and I went to West Point Park with our Day Camp🤗😄!!! My Mom was one of the chaperones! Although my Brother and I had a lot of fun at West Point Park, in the early 1980s when we were children😃😃, my Mom thought West Point Park was an "awfully rundown amusement park" with "rickety amusement rides". However, my brother and I went on many rides including the Tilt-A-Whirl, the Scrambler, and the Ferris Wheel and we were fine😃😃👍👍!!! However I remember as a child I was afraid to get on the roller coaster because that ride looked very rickety and even my Brother didn't get on the roller coaster either!
thanks for sharing your memories
