    I grew up running around , climbing , camping out & partying at Carrie Furnace & been all over the houses on Lincoln Way. I was there for most of the dear heads construction by a local artistic group , there is a Owl too but its alot smaller & way way up near the top. That said awesome video & Lincoln way has been demolished ! It's completely gone these days , it was a lil creepy possibly haunted cause I've seen some odd shit happen there. Carrie Furnace has seen it all !! They flooded out the underneath to keep us all out of it mostly cause of there have been O.D's there & bodies found submerged or floating . Before this new face lift & use homeless people lived in certain areas , I remember one old man stayed way up in a old office type location of it ( we used to take & leave him food on holidays ) ive had some great times there & still do with GloryDaze M/C being held there. Thanks!!!

    So Lincoln Way is no more. They tore down all the houses and now the environment took over. You can’t go on the road they have it blocked off with barriers. Carry blast furnace has guided tours in the spring summer and fall. It’s a nice tour if you go do that. I’m only 30 minutes away from the 2 places so many times I’ve been there.

    The fire started in a trash heap, and it lit a coal vain. The town didn’t wanna put it out because it would cost too much money and it was thought it would burn out, however, it didn’t. The fire continue to burn on that cold and travel throughout the vain.

    Fire in Centralia didnot start in a mine, but in a trash pit which did have a coal seam in it. Burning trash when the pit got filled was a regular thing. Just this time, the coal seam ignited.

    The fire under Centrailia didn't start in a coal mine, but a dump where garbage was burning that caught the coal seam on fire. A local man offered to dig out the fire for $175 but the town declined, preferring a response by the state. By that time the fire had burned beyond putting out.

    I Concur with Theresa. NAKINA IS MOST DEFINITELY NOT A GHOST TOWN!!!!! Your information is based upon past history and not the current state of affairs. You most definitely did not do complete research before adding Nakina to this list. I have family and many friends who still reside in this friendly community nestled in the boreal forest. I visit Nakina every year and have yet to run into a ghost. Did you even visit the community before publishing such erroneous, misleading information?????? I think not. Remove Nakina from this list.

  • @TheresaStrangway
    @TheresaStrangway 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

    NAKINA IS NOT A GHOST TOWN. I believe you have your information wrong. Yes it no longer serves as a crew change for the CNR, but your information is based on outdated old History. It still does serve as a hub for CNR Maintenance employees, employing approx. 20 persons with related infrastructure and shops. It has a The Nakina Lumber Sawmill that employs 120 people, plus more if you include the Woodland Harvesting operations. Nakina is well known historically for its Tourism Sector, with Fly in Lodges and Tourist Outpost Camps, that has served the community well and booms during the summer months with over 50 outpost and Lodge Operators. We have a Airport and Aircraft Maintenance facilities that employs approx. 25 and cannot be found anywhere except larger centers like Thunder bay. Our Schools employ roughly 10 full time jobs. We have a full time Resident Family Doctor (not a Locum) that we adore. We have a healthy and happy Senior Population which volunteers and supports the community as we do them. We have a total population of approx. 410 (I counted heads in households), but in summer it increase to part time another 70-100 seasonal camp owners. So 500 people on a Summers day not including Tourists. So for such a small community we are definitely not dying and our Economy has a diverse base insulating us from the ups and downs of a one horse town. We apologize for our Community being in such disrepair but we were Amalgamated back in 2001 and left by the wayside on upkeep and funding....but we are working hard at changing that as soon as possible. Now take us off your list DEFINETELY not a Ghost Town...lol Come visit us sometime, we are so friendly and gladly point out the best fishing spots !!!

    How about the underground Subway tunnels in Lancaster PA? Across the street from where Woolworth used to be on Queen St. , there is an entrance that is blocked, preventing from anyone going down into those tunnels. I haven’t been around that area in a while, but might have to take a walk again to see what’s there. I’m highly familiar with Lancaster City. Arounf the corner from the Central Market. Also, I used to work at House of Pizza on W. Chestnut St and the historical elevator they have in there, looks like it was connected to a tunnel but now it’s used to store food.

    As a 68-year-old lifelong Pennsylvania resident who has seen most of the state by car, I did not know about the Howard Tunnel or the Staple Bend Tunnel. The Columbia-Wrightsville span over the Susquehanna River was a covered bridge. I live not too far away from the Lehigh Tunnel and I do remember well when it was a single-tube tunnel and the traffic congestion at certain times of the day and year.

    Hershey Park was my first job. It was a great place to work. I got into the park free with my badge, and I got free 2 tickets with my paycheck 1 in a while. The Hershey company still cares about its employees. An employees caféa as well for employees was heated and had ac. I would gladly go back and work for them agin
