@@DimmyVwant a drone to use for more windy and chasing fast moving subjects. I do a lot of chasing speed boats at sunset. I already have someone that’s great for portability. Mavic 4 would be great but I know that will be like $3000-$4000 cad. Budget is $1800-2500 cad
@itsKEVO I would go for Air 3S then if that’s your budget. Also look for ways to spread the cost like an interest free loan or afterpay. Some offer ways to buy now and pay later. Some have some interest other not depending on the length of term. I did it a few times so I can make money with my drone. The Air 3S is also faster than the Mavic 3.
Also the extra features on Air 3S make it a better buy than Mavic 3 Pro at the moment. Lidar RTH alone is a super value add on you get with Air 3S. I was in the same boat 3 weeks ago and then decided to go with Air 3S.
PS. Bitrate: they have dropped under 90Mbps....if you know the HEVC, you would know that bitrate formula for quality is: Bitrate = FPS x 2 minimum...also if you use 10bit, you need to add 10mbps extra So in 4K 60fps when you use DLOGM, in fact you use 90mbps -10 mbps that is color10bit, so you use 80mbps...you need 120mbps in order to keep HEVC at 18 ratio in encoding so you can decode it at quality that matches close the ProRes 4.2.0 in quality...with the new compression, you are toasted in a studio...
Well done that was a lot of work. On Day 1 clip 2 comparison, despite the Air 3 being shot later and therefore darker the Air 3 is definitely better than the Air 3S. But in Day 1 Clip 3 the Air 3S is better. So I am confused. Can you check that the Exif details in the Original clip are correct, especially for these two videos?😊
I too think the Air 3 looks better but this is golden hour where the best colours appear. This is why I say choosing the right time of day to shoot is important but not always practical. Lighting makes a big difference. With drones we tied to natural lighting and not fixed lighting like film sets. Though I have seen drones used in film production with dedicated lights.
I noticed that when i film in 4k 60fps with my air 3 and transfer the footage to my cellphone the video comes out choppy and studders, does anyone know why? 🤔
@@DimmyV i use the quick transfer feature in the DJI fly app. 30fps, 48fps, and 50fps seem to work fine but when i transfer it in 60fps the video studders.
How about excessive Moire and Aliasing? You did not seen it or you did not wanted to be seen? Because in our studio the difference is visible, even between the Mini 4 Pro and Air 3S, the Air 3S is a huge dissapointment for commercials when you get roofs.
@@DimmyV Almost all DJI and Autel. At 5:34 is pretty obvious the Moire and Aliasing, in your video...and this is YT converted, in original video I bet is more visible.
My Air 3s had been held by customs since Wednesday (Nov 6th) it has been 5 days and no word just “Customes clearance event” for every update notification. My Mini 3 Pro is in the shop & my avata 2, yes I crashed them into each other being silly 🤪 DJI Refresh for both was $100 so no sweat off my back.
@ I’m like a child impatiently waiting. It finally cooled down here in southern Texas from 90 degree days & they’ve already put up lights for the holiday season!
DJI didn't invent a new codec. They use the same H265 standard codec. When you lower the bit rate of compression, you get a smaller file. It makes quite a bit of sense. Maybe the AIR 3S has a more advanced image processor, but it cannot be that a file with the same encoding at a higher compression level will be of the same quality.
Come on... There's nothing like DJI's miracle algorithm to preserve quality at a lower bitrate in H.265. It is the given codec. The image is sharper and more detailed mainly due to the absence of the Anti-Moire filter, which causes the roofs of houses with a finer structure to contain a lot of moire. In the table you state 130Mbps for 4k30fps, but in reality nobody gets over 90Mbps at 60fps and at 30fps it is more like 75Mbps and that is simply not enough. I have this drone and I would really like a higher bitrate because the details are lost at higher speeds. But the Anti-Moiré filter is a hardware thing and we are unfortunately unlucky there.
Appreciate you feed back on this. The table made was just using the bit rates as described by DJI not the actual bit rates. What did you think overall from the footage. You liking the Air 3S?
@@DimmyV The picture is not bad, but it really needs a higher bitrate and it's a pity that there is no moire filter. Photos are good at 50 Mpx, but need to go through post-production due to high aberration. The drone has amazing features but the image decisions are its weakest point and it's a shame. The drone had the potential to be an absolute monster. I think if it had remained a full 20 MPx sesor like the Air 2S, it would have been a better decision.
@ I would have love a bigger MP or at least have the 70mm also a 1inch sensor too. I tend to prefer that. I’m sure the high bit rate can be added as a firmware update like DJI did with the Action 5 Pro. We just have to be a little patient. Overall still a good drone. Have you seen other comparison videos?
The big bummer, when you compare the Air3S's video footage to the Air2S. The 2S has a REAL 1" 20MP sensor. The Air3S's 1" sensor is only a 12MP that uses quad-bayer crap to FAKE 50MP. I bought the 3S, used for 1 day and returned it. Complete waste of time.
Luts are the snake oil for drones these days. If you use brightness, contrast, saturation and gamma you will get same results in a blink of an eye. Without spending money. And you gotta learn something in the process. Better investment imho.
Yup that why I made this video so people have the option to do it themselves or use a LUT. End of the day some don’t want to spend time on it as it adds to the work flow. th-cam.com/video/BGcIrrzB_MU/w-d-xo.htmlsi=SE9li3_ycnyP9vQz Appreciate the comment 🍻

Would you use slow motion or film 4K60 and slow down in post?
Top job first video of yours I've watched
Glad you enjoyed, what are your thoughts?
@DimmyV I've recently purchased the Air3s but can't fly in this storm weather we are having in the UK.
@ hate when that happens. Just that time of year
Great video, really enjoy your breakdowns and data charts.
I’m stuck between Dji air 3s or mavic 3 pro because the price is around the same right now. I wanted a second drone to complement my Dji mini 4 pro
The Mavic 4 will likely be released in new year. What do you want it for? The Air 3S is more portable than Mavic.

As far as we know none of the recent drones from DJI has any HW anti aliasing filter... That said, yes, lowering bitrate is always a stupid decision.

It's a shame the 3s is showing so much moire in the videos. Seems like a downgrade from the 3 as far as video is concerned.
Not the first person to have mentioned this. I can’t see it… this could be a firmware fix.
