    This is my kind of turning a spanner. Plenty of "figuring it out" and parts laying in the grass. Legend. Thanks so much.

      @@rovertasmania7033 Too true. I love my old rig for what it is AND the opportunity it gives me to get down in it and work. Simple "Drivers" will never know the vehicle like those of us that have to nurse them along. My Discovery is exactly yours by the way- converted to a 300Tdi from the gasser...love it.

      Or, you can try the 'cut the seal' method and install it back with the slit at 12 o'clock position.

    Hello, great vid. Thanks. This job is to be done on my Discovery 300TDi (1998, Trophy). I understand that there are two types of seals: 9 and 11mm? Can you tell, how to identify the proper one for the axle in case. Does one fits for all? Cheers Heinz

      Honestly I'm not sure... I think they are interchangeable but just refer to seal part number.

      @@rovertasmania7033 ok thank you. it seems like such an involved process, but worth it. Same with brake rotors - need to dismantle and rebuild axles and wheel bearings to do it.

    trailer fitters toolbox videos show the correct procedure & the tension on swivel ball preload.

    • @rovertasmania7033
      @rovertasmania7033  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, but we didnt change the settings of the swivel preload, just the external swivel ball.

    What seals did you need besides the ball seals

    • @rovertasmania7033

      I cant remember all now, but theres axle seals also. Best to look at a diagram and get the p/n for all seals you need (thats what i do)

    Maybe I missed it somewhere in the video but what was the symptoms to require you to change those components as I have a wheel wobble coming from the front left and can’t pinpoint it and fairly new to landrover from fronteras I’m kinda stuck if you could help. Many thanks guys.

    • @rovertasmania7033
      @rovertasmania7033  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      This was to replace the oil seal on the swivel. If you got a wobbly wheel this indicates a more serious issue that needs immediate attention. Could be a number of things, lose wheel nuts, lose or worn wheel bearings, swivel bush and bearing worn. Please get a mechanic to check if you haven't the tools and skills. Slowly build up skills over time but don't stuff around with these types of issues.
