used to love this game although we could never really get anywhere in it. feasel is probably my favorite runner. lowkey and very versed in techniques and technical aspects
Actually, whenever you hear the sound of your character getting hit, you lose health, not when Merlin/Questor goes "Oh-oo!", Thyra goes "Yow!" or Thor goes "Oh..". An easy way to tell, are in levels where the enemies "move" quickly. You could quickly lose 40-210 health before their hurt sample plays. This is why the final world is so dangerous. Grunts and Sorcerers move so fast, and their moments of not attacking are virtually non-existent. Plus combine that with generators that cannot be destroyed via melee attacks (which start showing up in the third world), and they become the most dangerous enemies.
This game has worlds? I just thought it had randomly sequenced dungeons. I swear when I played it, which was a lot, I would never know what map would show up next
mrdante361 The way I understand it is that at the end of Super Metroid, you have to escape the planet before it blows up; on the way out, you can make a detour and unlock a door for some animals to escape out of. As speed runners, it saves time to let the animals just die. But as decent people supporting charitable causes, donators may feel it "ethical" to save the helpless animals. Huge money is spent on this incentive year in and year out. People will drop huge sums of money (like $10,000) at the last second to change whether the runners save the animals or let them die. Everyone makes up their own mind. Personally, I say save the frames, kill the animals, as there is very little difference to the game besides a longer speed run and like 6 pixels at the end.

Gauntlet is beatable? Holy shit my mind was blown. I literally thought you just bragged in just how far you got to your friends. Lol
Same!
Whats really cool is that Gauntlet is in Lego Dimensons, in the All Your Bricks Are Belong to Us level. They made it pretty awesome.
TheChargingRhino And with the Midway Arcade Level Pack, you can actually PLAY Gauntlet and Gauntlet II :)

That was stressful lol.
I never got very far in the arcade version of the game... lol. My name comes from the game. 😉
ok so I have watched these runs for awhile and I still don't understand the save or kill the animals thing.
mrdante361 Something to do with a Metroid game
BJGvideos that clears it up
mrdante361 That's about all I know. Saving them takes a scoch longer.
Different endings in metroid :)
