    Neat tip with the heat gun! This is a great demo and overall explanation. I never understood the point but I get it now. Thanks, buddy!

    Great clear methodical video, thanks. How about double sided strips with suede on one side? When would I use the suede side. Cheers mate 👍

    Looks similar to a strop made by a subscriber. Mine has the leather wrapped around one side for doing curved items

    Thank you for the video! I recently discovered strops and they are great. They are particularly nice if they are positioned near to the edged tools you use all the time. This way after use you can strop them once or twice to retain the edge. They are definitely for "last stage honing", but if a knife is sharp, honing it on a strop with diamond compound will take it to the point of machine-fine edge.
    My only word of caution is be VERY careful with scandi grind blades and strops. Unless you really understand what is going on, casual use of a diamond paste strop on scandi knives can quickly turn your premium scandi blade into a shit sabre grind (as the depression in the leather as you strop quickly produces a micro-bevel)
    Love your work as always Iridium. Thank you

      @@Iridium242 Very kind of you to acknowledge my comment. Thank you. On standard knives I love the strops ... but yeah guys who do maintenance on scandi knives bemoan how people create micro bevels on their top shelf knives

    Good review without the long-winded BS commentary other videos feel obligated to include. "here's the strop, here's how to load it, here's how to use it, here's where to buy it.... boom!!!" Thank you!

    I want to know how much compound to put on and how to do it

    • @Iridium242
      @Iridium242  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I showed in the video how to do it, but as for how much just coat it until its even and you can see some greed of the compound on it. As for how, i just heat it up with a hairdryer and wipe the compound stick on the strop, not too hot just warm and it goes on even.
