I don't know. You get to be Irelia for the first 5 minutes all while power farming with First Strike, Cull and TP. You just break their tower without interacting with them cause the proxy is set up so damn consistently. If he ran Hexflash, it could be really strong at quickly waveclearing behind their tower before anyone can respond. The waveclear is like a 12 minutes Viktor at 5 minutes in. It doesn't take long to take nearly zero tower damage too. It's just a stronger waveclear proxy than Sion for the first 20 minutes, so you get to be ahead money and levels instead of only being allowed to int more and harder.

Thank you midbeast for being one of the few youtubers that admits Irelia is not easy. She needs a brain to make work or else you will int almost any matchup againt brainless top lane champs like malphite.
As for the big benefits of ap vs ad (ad is defs better but here is what it has going for it): you do not have to engage as hard because you can stay at a reasonable distance, poke AND burst damage, wave clear is amazing, tower damage scales way better than ad, IF you build nashor's early then you still have on hit damage, and most importantly mix damage that is very hard to build against (w is physical, while e and r are magic).
Big cons: your mana is dogshit, passive scales with ad not ap, w one shoting minions severely reduces mobility because you cant q dash, and you are STILL made of paper if you go full ap.
Yesterday I was watching his last game of the stream but I had to leave at half of the game for other reasons. When I saw this video and this title today I was so afraid that he got banned again. Who watched that infamous "last game" can understand why
AP Irelia is good. But his build is bad and his playstyle is bad. Ive been playing it since the Irelia remake. You go nashors - ludens - lichbane/ or zhonya for tanky, rest is whatever. Not this shit build he is using.

I dont think so because he only has this one playstyle for every champ. for a long time his excuse for his bad laning phase was always that he played late game champs. but then also inted laning phase with prime volibear. I do think hes a good player though, if he would stop some of his bad habits (greedy backs, always go bad in after escape) he would be top 10 for sure.

irelia's E goes faster when you combo it with other abilities, such as Q, but I do love your confidence thinking it's just clicking faster

It doesn’t go out any faster. The animation is just hidden because you’re overlapping with the Q animation. The hardest combo is the Q-E-Q-E where you hide both points of E with Q.
@JayTiller it does go faster, if you get a clip of using only E and then hiding E within Q you can see the they don't go out with the same speed, simply because if you click a spell before the recast, you are then buffering the recast and it does it instantly after the Q cast ends, instead of having that little delay by manuanly pressing it. It's the same as riven's Q issue a movement command auto Q issue a movement command auto Q issue a movement command auto, which is way faster than Q auto Q auto Q auto
@Axel B777 you are right just not for the right reason, the speed at which the e swords come in is determined by how close the second one is to irelia, thus when you q you are closer to the enemy making the e go faster

@Midbeast If Baus is anything like the other Artisan Build-Crafting Silver ELO players like myself, he has several leagueoflegends fandom wiki pages up at the same time furiously scribbling down numbers in notepad and sometimes doing complex arithmetic, like addition, in calculator to determine what the most egregiously overthought build path could be.
If it starts looking too much like a meta build, time to scrap it and start over.
Irelking makes E go fast by using E1 same time as Q it makes it harder to see

The mad disrespect. Babus isn't known for his mechanics simply because he's so well known for his unique "int" macro style, but he's still got very good mechanics. You don't have to drag the man in the first 30s.
That he actually bought 'sorcerer boots' hurts my eyes the most. Even with AP items he does NO magic dmg!!! It's all converted into AD by the abilities!!! He got absolutely NOTHING from the magic penetration. It just goes to show that he doesn't even understand his own build.

I think, while it's true Baus trolls a/doesn't try to win on stream, he's also kinda playing Irelia specifically in this completely grief way to point out how disgustingly unskilled the champ is. I don't think it's a coincidence he's playing one of Sion's hardest counters.
People have this belief like pressing Q and attack moving is hard, when all champs like Irelia and Riven really have, difficulty wise, is their own ability to get themselves into sticky situations and fail to execute because of pressure based mistakes. They're actually pretty easy to play, they just scale more with drilling ability usage than some other champs because it's easy to make a simple mistake in a high pressure situation. Even then, all other champs have the same difficulties, it's just that dashing into 5 and failing a reset is more obvious than casting a bad Q, getting chunked 20% and losing a second rotation of spells in a teamfight, resulting in you dying 3 seconds earlier and their carries outputting 4 seconds total more DPS on your teams carries and turning a won team fight into a lost one.
TL;DR Baus is probably playing Irelia because he thinks the champ is piss easy and the only reason you, coping Irelia main, think she isn't is because it's very easy to see where you went wrong, which makes her seem harder because you can more easily identify your mistakes.
ap irelia exist in chinese server like three years ago, in 2020. even 2018 somebody already try this.

He gets to kill people with surprising damage, gets to push tf out of top and stay top all day, and focus on a minigame farming mechanic with q and graves. Let’s be honest, all the games he won playing ap irelia he could’ve won anyway much easier playing irelia with normal build. He barely contributed anything to the team. This goes same as playing ap yasuo or ap zed or ap any champion. He won cos of his team. in tekken, there are players that have obvious gimmicks and the design of the game makes it work, like xiaoyu or lucky chloe
they get really high rank because no one knows how to counter it, but they only have that one gimmick
