The Side Stories remind me a ton of the Citadel DLC from ME3. Both are just pure fanservice for the sole purpose of fanservice. It's just the characters interacting for the purpose of the characters interacting and giving as much of them as possible. Complete and utter fanservice. And I mean that with no negativity. I just find it amazing that a series that was an RPG with characters you built relationships with over 3 games... and a free virtual novel turned horror game... both created characters who resonate sooooooooooooooo much with people that they want nothing more than MORE of those characters. Sayori, Natsuki, Yuri... and Monika... Dan Salvato really struck gold with them. For such a short game as DDLC... it really made all 4 seem to deep and make you feel so close to them. And these side stories are just... happy fanfiction. And I again mean that with no negativity. It's just giving us those characters... but with no tragedy or horror. It's just them being how we THOUGHT the orginal game would be. And for a HORROR game to create all of these stories... with no horror... just to give the audience happy times with those characters... who AREN'T EVEN INTERACTING WITH THE PLAYER... it's just incredible. I don't know what it was that made the characters in DDLC ingrain themselves in people so much... but I'm glad I finally just a year and a half ago finally watched Game Grumps original video after ignoring it when they first played it.
The reason Dan doesn't remember that scene from Sayori's path is because they never got her path on the first day, instead they went down Natsuki's without realizing it
There’s such heavy stuff in these that I’d never make it through without the Grumps. And I have a new appreciation for Sayori. I used to really not like her, but I realized we had previously only seen her with FriendPlayer, that is to say being way too nice to a self-centered dickwipe. She’s much better with characters who actually care about her.
These side stories definitely make the characters more three dimensional. However, I’m not quite sure how severe the girls’ personal problems are in this version of the game. Sayori obviously still suffers from depression, but I’m not sure if Natsuki still suffers from neglect or if Yuri still suffers from self-harm.
There was a missed opportunity for a through-line there with Sayori wanting to "get closer" to Natsuki. "I was just curious...bi-curious." "Did you finish? Cause I could help you." "Would you ever want to share (your body with me)?" Also, while we're on this sort of subject, I have to make this joke since they mentioned it. Sigh...I have an emotional tentacle. And I use it to transfer my emotions to others. ^~^
Oh my god. I need the alternate reality Home Inprovement where it isn’t Wilson behind the fence. It’s a cult of C’thulu. They’re not characters, you just hear chanting in ALL scenes in that back yard. Mid way though season 4, Cthulu shows up and then it’s just a Cthulhu show.
5:43 - Sayori: "What was that last one?" - Natsuki: "...mystery." 29:33 - _"That would be "Us" time! "Me" time is something I can only do with "me"!_ _Now would you leave _me_ alone for a while... and let me do my thing?!"_
i feel like them saying sorry to each other so much is an accurate representation of people with mental health problems talking to each other cuz in real life, it feels a lot of the time talking about your feelings is a burden and you dont want the other person to be mad at you. at least in the case of my own experiences. ive had conversations like this a lot edit: like youre constantly worried about saying the wrong thing and upsetting the other person or getting upset at yourself for feeling like youre saying something stupid

Arin's too good of a voice actor to keep up Monika's silly robot voice for the whole LP I love it
I was hoping to hear "Sweet. Glazed. Doughn's" again... Seriously did Asa Hina write that donut line!
"Donuts *CAN* Read" should be a t-shirt.
* _hint-hint_ *
There was a missed opportunity for a through-line there with Sayori wanting to "get closer" to Natsuki.
"I was just curious...bi-curious."
"Did you finish? Cause I could help you."
"Would you ever want to share (your body with me)?"
Also, while we're on this sort of subject, I have to make this joke since they mentioned it.
Sigh...I have an emotional tentacle. And I use it to transfer my emotions to others. ^~^
Someone better be making that "Sorry" tally.
i did! its one of the newer comments with all the time stamps
God the Cthulu jokes are such a treasure I could listen to a never ending playlist of these episodes and never get tired of it
Birds can fly.
Donuts can read.
Cthulhu can stay.
It's snowing on Mount Fuji
In this episode: Sayori losses her mind and no one knows what she is talking about. Sooo same as the last 30+ episodes.
for some reason the characters saying "I'm Sorry" all the time isn't annoying at all, but them saying "DING" very much is.
Who dies
Who dies
Who dies
Who dies
who dies
The delayed reaction to "Donuts can read" was absolutely golden
Dan wishing for over the top horror?! I'm proud if him!
Also is no one going to talk about all the hints of Natsuki being into girls?!
They're not really hints so much as big honking banner signs.
XD I love how they made the joke about Natsuki having hentai... and then that's ACTUALLY where the joke went
Do she die
@@4thquarter214 you spent so much time commenting that if you just looked it up you would got the same result other then wasting your time
5:43 - Sayori: "What was that last one?" - Natsuki: "...mystery."
29:33 - _"That would be "Us" time! "Me" time is something I can only do with "me"!_
_Now would you leave _me_ alone for a while... and let me do my thing?!"_
i feel like them saying sorry to each other so much is an accurate representation of people with mental health problems talking to each other cuz in real life, it feels a lot of the time talking about your feelings is a burden and you dont want the other person to be mad at you. at least in the case of my own experiences. ive had conversations like this a lot
edit: like youre constantly worried about saying the wrong thing and upsetting the other person or getting upset at yourself for feeling like youre saying something stupid
The most reassuring thing as a singer is finding professionals who also can’t read music I got yelled at by voice teachers left and right as a kid who alway told me I wasn’t going to be able to work if I couldn’t read music well
Paul McCartney never learned to read sheet music. I think he did moderately ok in his career.
@@vigorouslethargy yup so did Barbra Streisand it’s just nice to know it’s more common than I was lead to believe 🥰
cthulhu is definitely the best member
cthulhu is best girl
already sad for when the last episode of this goes up and we have no more doki doki content
The moment when Cthulu leaves the literature club is going to be heart breaking.
Heart-breaking, soul-devouring, mind-melting.. all the feels.
4:42 and 8:44 Hahahahaha I love Arin's laugh when Dan's commentary caughts him off guard xD
Also, Natsuki is a woman of culture confirmed.
"That was really the cross between Cthulhu and Tim Allen."
Sentences you'll only hear on Game Grumps
I was having a shity day and watching this helped.
Thanks for making me smile.
Arin: "What is this, Pontypool?"
Me: "I know that reference!!"
I randomly tell people about that movie!
Still in disbelief that Danny Sexbang the rockstar can’t and doesn’t need to read sheet music. The power of the music energy simply flows through his veins and he unleashes it to smite his enemies.
