They (the Prophet's Companionst) said: Allah's Messenger, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, but that Allah wraps me in His Mercy, and bear this in mind that the deed loved most by Allah is one which is done constantly even though it is small. sahih Muslim 2818a
📑Dear Dumsybrown, (NOTES ON this Chapter):
Scholars explain that Zachariah PBUH asked for a boy not for worldly gain but rather to inherit him in prophethood. There was much corruption in his time, and he wanted the prophetline to continue.
Notice that angels spoke to him and gave him the news, assuring him that his prayers were answered. Yet he was surprised because he was old and his wife was barren. So, even though they told him he would have a son, he asked for a sign. So some scholars said God gave him a small admonishment for that, and he was told that the sign is that you won't be able to speak for three days without illness or harm.
Notice that Mary PBUH said "I wish I had died" not because of the pain of childbirth but because she was worried about what people would say about her reputation for having a baby without being married.
Notice that when her people called her "sistere of Harun" meaning of the lineage of Harun the brother of Moses.. In Semitic languages (Aramaic, Hebrew, and Arabic all are sister languages) they call people by their pious ancestor son of Mosa , daughter of Abraham, son of Ismael (Arab say that sometimes because we descend from Ismael) etc.
Notice the voice that called her while she was giving birth. Some scholars say it is none other than BABY JESUS comforting his mother in distress. I am of that opinion. Others say it is the angel, because "he called or cried to her..." without specifying who the person is. How God is beautiful !! What a wonderful, amazing story!
Notice that some say that when God said to Mary PBUH to shake the palm tree, it is proof that we have to do our part to get something. Mary was weak after giving birth. How could she! If a man tries to shake the palm tree, he won't be able to get a single date!! I have tried it for fun in my house, but not even one date fell. The palm tree did not even move a bit! Especially when the fruit is "rutab." Those are early fresh dates (light brown and very soft but not yet the dark brown dates that you see in the market; those that fall from trees very easily). The verse mentioned Rutab, meaning "fresh ripe dates." It is literally hard to pick rutab. I collect dates in my house every year, and I have to swirl each date, one by one ,like changing light bulbs for 4 or more rounds, to cut it from its stem. So the verse is teaching people who meditate well that we need to take a step and the rest is in God's hands. The message here is that we do our part, but also rely on God. One of the reasons God made Mary pbuh fast from speaking was so that her baby Jesus could defend her honor and leave no doubt with such a miracle.
At 17:48, it talks about a powerful rich pagan, Al'as ibn Wa'el Al-Sahami, (father of the prophet's companion Amr ibn Al'as) who was rich and blessed with many children. He asked Jabab, rw, who was a Muslim, for a metalworking job, and when Jabab did the job, he asked to be paid. Al'as, the Pagan, said I will pay you if you disbelieve in Muhammad! Jabab said I would not do that till you die and be resurrected, so Al'as replied, "Will then, if I die and be resurrected as you claim, you will see me with money and children, then I will pay you. He mistakenly reasoned that he would have more blessings in the next life because God had already blessed him in this life with wealth and children, which meant God was pleased with him, or mockingly denying the resurrection altogether). So God answered him (and any arrogant person in general) with these verses.
Also notice the powerful ending of the surah: "And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound? "
Death has ended all of them! Not even a sound or a noise left by those countless generations before us. What a powerful verse!
By the way, whenever you read the word "man" in an English translation of the Quran in the sense of "MANkind," know that in Arabic it says "insan," which means "human."

Date is ripe during summer, Mary ate ripe date before giving birth to Jesus. So why are christians celebrating Christmas in winter? Jesus was born in the middle east, where there are no rain deer, pine trees, santa clause wearing winter clothing. Keep your minds open and ask questions. Brains are given to us to think
We decided to celebrate Christmas on 25th December. Nobody said that was the exact date Jesus was born. I can decide to celebrate mine at anytime.

You are celebrating based on some ones time who decided 25th dec is very cold and we are free to celebrate some festivals with lights and candles. Also Athiest mentality is we can do anything we want, dont adopt that. If you are a follower of some one study deeply and ask questions. If you want god, ask him directly without mediators. He will show you the right path. You are reading quran because he is showing you the path. You can take it or leave it is up to you. God doesn't lose anything, it's us we lose.

Salvation in Islam is both work and grace. Work alone cannot take you to heaven. At the same every individual will be responsible for his/her own actions. Nobody will clear the burden of your sins, you must be accountable.
The most important thing you should comment in this verse is Allah's rejection of Jesus sonship in literal sense. Because Allah is not in need of a son. In fact, ascribing son to Allah is like the mountains to fall in utter ruin, because of the gravity of attributing son to God almighty. May Allah guide you to the truth. Doing Islamic reaction will gradually like other Christians open your heart to the truth.
My brother in humanity, The Qur’an is the direct words of Allah reveal to prophet Mohammed PBUH to us mankind to understand our lord (Allah) and to guide us in the correct path. You need to read the Qur’an and keep you Bible mentality out. As the Bible are not Equal terms.

Point of correction nowhere in the Bible did Jesus said salvation is by grace. You follow Paul not Jesus
when Jesus was crucified and he told one of the thief that he will be with him in paradise. wasn’t that grace? Do you think he deserve to be in heaven?

Jusus didnt Come to die for any humain sin rather he came to call people to worship the one god as all the prophets before him did.
According to Christians, those who have not been baptized will go to Hell. So even the infants and babies go to Hell if not baptized, since they are born with an inherited original sin. Doesn’t this contradict the definition of justice? Why would God punish people for sins they never committed?
So this brother listen to the chapter of Mary but he did not understand anything from it. If you die as a Christian your going to be among the losers.
