Can you imagine being in the middle of Iraq and a friendly A-10 just screams by in a low pass after you just watched it obliterate 4-5 tanks and triple A's, that probably put a smile on a lot of peoples faces :)
@@Orphican I mean it’s kinda the plane. It has quite a high friendly fire rate, more than most other planes. Probably due to the lack of visual/targeting equipment, at least in old versions as well as the sort of missions it flies.
I own an A-10 for air support, since that's what NATO intended. 4 enemy vehicles close in on friendly forces. "We're gunned down! Scramble!" As I grab my helmet-mounted sight and 30mm high explosive rounds. Blow a building-sized hole through the first Scud with a JDAM, it's dead on the spot. Fire at a second one, misses it completely because it dropped before the CCIP, and instead destroys a civilian house. I have to resort to the 30mm GAU-8 Avenger cannon my aircraft is mounted to, loaded with high explosive rounds. "Hold this, my dudes!" The high explosive rounds completely shred 2 T-72's, the sound of the impacts setting off nearby car alarms. Then I switch to a Maverick missile for the last transport, slave it to the TGP, and fire. The enemy soldiers bleed out waiting for a medic, because debris impacts from a missile explosion are impossible to stitch up. Just as I get a launch notification from friendly artillery. Ahhh... it's just as NATO intended.
At 6:32, it's so funny to see how easily you've gotten used to being in a cockpit. You readjust and move into position as if moving your head to focus on an object several feet away, by moving just a few inches. Bravo. I give a kudo point for this small act.
Bricks are shit. I've seen the reaction of Taliban fighters realizing an A-10 is coming in for a gun pass. They also forgot about the fact that there is many times more than one and it was lined up on the other path they would've taken...turns out 12 bodies turned to hamburger makes quite the mess. Also, having to go search for any biometrics to confirm any of the fighters isn't exactly my idea of a field trip, but the carnage is out of this world. If you've ever seen the video of the guy being chased by cops that turns his shotgun on himself, just remember the head weights about 8-10lbs. Multiply that mess by about 14, then multiply by another 6-12. Some just catch the frag and blast, but some are direct hits. I can talk about this stuff because it doesn't bother me anymore. Those moments felt like being on a movie scene because the risk was pretty low, and they were guys trying to kill us. I didn't pull the trigger, it's just a BDA (Battle Damage Assessment)
Never saw A-10s in Iraq but had a pair of Apaches drop into my convoy one time. And I do mean INTO my convoy. One flew top cover and the other slipped in between the third and fourth gun trucks with his landing gear about level with our turrets. Coolest thing I ever saw.
The A-10C is probably the easiest aircraft to fly, but also probably the most difficult to learn to fight with. The system integration with the HOTAS is great, but requires a lot of controls (4-hats+several buttons) and memorization of all the hats short-long commands. Once you get it down it flows a lot better than either the -16 or -18 weapons processes. Target and steerpoint management are easy, especially with the HMCS, and the amount of information you get from the HMCS when working with other A-10's is incredible. Target sharing and hand-offs are almost too simple and even just a pair of birds with knowledge of the area can decimate enemy by the dozens. Careful flying, understanding the enemy defenses, and how to use terrain to your advantage are the most important. You also need to be wary of enemy fighters and attack helos. A KA-50 or an MI-24 will ruin your day if you get too close. Steep dive on them and gun'em through the rotor.
These A-10 videos, for me, are the best. So satisfying to see hard targets get effortlessly obliterated not to mention the poor guy taking a squat in the bushes. No need for toilet paper. Thanks and keep 'em coming.
I think the 282 L rockets are underrated and not used enough! they are laser guided, they have a range of about 6 miles and you can carry 21 per pylon! 3 can take out a T-55 from the back, 1 takes out a Shilka. I call it a baby Maverik. You should try it some time!
Absolutely bonkers to me that they've started phasing A-10s out. Savage, amazing precision work. We'll never see another combat aircraft system like it.

I was a USAF Weapon/Ordinance Tech for A-10s in Desert Shield/Storm, I love your videos like this showing were the A-10 absolutely shines in it's element, brings back some great but also somber memories. Whenever the ground pounders learned who the flight/service crews were for the A-10s they made friends with us fast. Always got ribbed for being in the Air Farce, Chair Force, and Keyboard Warriors but it was always good fun and brother's-in-arms respect. They knew we were doing our job and it was saving their butts way more than once. Respect for all my fellow vets out there; the crayon eating Devil Dogs, Trench Monkey Grunts, and the Butt Pirate Squids, I love all you guys.
Wasn't sure if I should grab an F-18 or F-15, but this looks like too much fun! Thanks fir the discounts! These videos are great, you sure do crank them out!
The F-18 can do everything this A-10 did and then also air-to-air. For your first module, if you're going for a full-fidelity one, I'd definitely recommend the F-18 or F-16. F-18 if you're more interested in ground pounding or dogfighting, F-16 if you're more into BVR.
Just when I was about to rewatch some older A-10 videos because I felt like Brrrts and booms GS uploads a new one! My man here, always knows what the people want!
Damn, I feel for that foot soldier you killed with that gun run, I can't even imagine the process. Did he get pulverized to dust? Did he explode? Big chunks? Little bits? A different dimension? Now I want to see 30mm gau8 round used on a ballistic gel torso.
Some of the rounds are explosive, some are kinetic, all are very large and moving very fast and there are a LOT of both so basically I just think ground pork.
Gotta do more CAS with the Hog on this channel! Seriously bro... you are damn good at this and for those of us that were SF or infantry or support REMF's that had the Hog save their bacon, these vids are so damn sweet! You're one of the best dogfighters I've ever seen (was gonna be a pilot myself but was too tall/heavy so went Army SOF) but I really do enjoy these CAS missions... you're damn good at em! Maybe a mission every couple weeks??? I dunno... I see "A-10..." in my feed from Growling Sidewinder and I gotta get a fresh beer and sit back and enjoy! @Growling Sidewinder Plus, the A10's TF34 turbofans aren't known to be a really "hot" engine. Battlefield theme very fitting at the end brings me back to BC2
Hahaha! I noticed at 5:20 that after you JDAMned the triple A technical, the other cars on the road just drove past it burning on the road!
Nothing quite like a good 'hog roast. :)
Finally an A-10 video!
Man that SA-13 really acted like it was part of a SAM battery instead a solo launcher, launching at max range and just giving away its position instantly with almost no PK
Turned that last guy into gazpacho! Nice!
GS: "I'm gonna gun this guy in hiding in the bush..."
GiB: "I'm glad I have this rifle to defend myself from snakes while I poo..."
Great run! The A-10 is such a cool plane.
Proud, the creator of this beast was Georgian origin.
Def the best tipe of video to watch from DCS
Yes the return !!! 🤌🏽🤌🏽🔥🔥🔥🪨🪨
Instead of radioing about that random guy in the bush, he issued a gun run. USMC sure has a lot of freedom to give.
I love how there's just normal cars driving through this battlefield as you bomb several positions nearby. Can't be bothered to run.
I've actually seen videos like that out of syria in real life, there were tanks doing legit combat operations in a city and cars were just driving around like any other day....
The battlefield music was perfect
i like those fearless drivers racing for the crater
Wow! a JDAM for a "technical"! That's costly business! LOL 😆 Great show!
i love it when you do those a-10 video's. keep up the good work.
A-10 needed speakers cranking Ride of the Valkyries on the gun run on the dude in the bush.
