My theory is that Dave purposefully tested generation loss while the alternates were there because in the video it says that he believe there is another type of generation loss due to everything outside. He also said he would test this when his emotions felt like it and one day he said he didn’t feel alone and that’s when he started it so I feel he wanted the alternates to be there.
I think he witnessed it from the Stanley video in vol 333, since Stanley is a form of six, who is either an alternate or some other creature, he saw this, leading him to think the following. That would place the timeliness of this video after vol 333 and before vol 4 most likely
Okay, theory time: 1: Dave was checking for distortion and generation loss in response to nearby alternates, based on his feelings that he isn’t as alone as he thinks, and the appearance of the alternate outside the window. 2: Gabriel is hiding in a place that was previously guarded, but his power scared away whoever was defending this dwelling. I think in this case, the cave is representing Mandela County, where the majority of Alternate attacks are happening and where we’ve seen Gabriel before. 3: Clearly the appearance of alternates has an effect of recorded media, but what does it mean by “all gone”? Do note that the TikTok account from unraveling pt 1 was also called “Allgone” so there is some connection there. Again I am left with more questions than answers and more excitement than before to see what comes next, thanks Alex!
Well something that might help figuring out what all gone means is that now we know its associated with the phrases "All grey" and "All dark". All grey can obviously refer to several things, like the worlds tendency to turn grey when Gabriel is around, or TV static, or something like that. All dark might just be referring to a situation involving literal darkness, like the night time, or in a cave, or a dark room off to the side. It also could be meant to be taken in tandem with "All gone", which of course, if there really was nothing, it would be all dark. It might just be describing "Overthrone", theres alot of things it could mean, and i dont think theres any specific clues that could currently help us decide which one specifically it is.
The tape might be showing the real alterations of biblical events like in overthrone and exhibition. On Alex’s “secret” “GENESIS APOCRYPHON” channel (a link to which was hidden in mandela catalyst) has a video which is the nearly same corrupted version of the same Beginner’s Bible episode in this video, just with some less distortions and a few extra scenes

Since the Alternates are linked via the media, you're creating copies but since only one thing can exist the copies are derivative, pulling energy from the original. The way to kill Alternates is simple: keep replicating them until they lose coherence, while destroying the previous copy. Even if they can turn up after that, they can't really do much except sit there and lack the coherency to effect much else than the slightly detectible anomaly/artifact that is what's left of themselves.

My question is did it actually work and Gabriel is just that much more powerful, or were the other alternates just fucking with him.
I think it has something to do with making copies of the tapes and how the alternates use them as a gateway in. Almost as if by copying it so many times over the tapes lose the ability to allow the alternates a way in.

I think the alternates are messing with him. It seems to have been Gabriel's plan all along that Dave enables more alternates to enter the world, via the tapes he illegally restores and distributes, especially for Lt. Davis. Since Gabriel seems to have control over the alternates and he wanted Dave to continue looking into the video phenomena (thus unconciously making the alternate problem worse) he very likely made sure that the alternates wouldn't actually harm him, but appear often enough to fuel his curiosity. That's why he was killed by Gabriel when he told Lt. Davis he would no longer be working with him. As soon as he stopped his work on the tapes he ceased to be useful for Gabriel's plans, and because Gabriel is Gabriel he wanted to really rub it in how he had been used all along before he died. because Gabriel is a dick.

I was experiencing that conformity phenomenon where there's 3 actors among one real test participant who starts to give obviously false answers when he sees all the actors confidently giving the same false answer before him, when I was seeing those legs outside the window but the guy, possibly Dave, didn't seem unfazed by it. I started questioning what I was actually seeing, asking myself, "What else those legs could be?" - because if there were legs outside a window, surely he would stop what he was doing and say something, right? RIGHT?
He knew a alternate was nearby and wanted it because that was the outside factor required to trigger this generation loss plus it kinda justifies his attitude towards gabriel later on
So, I interpret the cameraman not reacting to the legs in the window in tow ways: one, maybe the people of Mandela are so used to weird freaky shit that they are just unbothered by it, or two, maybe its implying that the cameraman himself didn't see it, and only the camera did?
because they dont actually attack you, they get you via MAD, dave ignoring them is how you properly counter these things, just power through and go on with your day
