YES!!! I was missing him too. I listen to horrorbabble as well and Ian just did an MD Vickers story yesterday and it was awesome of course. Awesome author and awesome narrator. But Simon is the one who got me into listening to all of these classic horror sci-fi and suspense stories. It's nice when you see someone else who appreciates the exact same things as you. Now I've started listening to all his other recordings of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's yarns. He really did bring that character to life for me. Again it's nice to see the cross over from channels. Probably Alan's best, after "A Coincidence." Skillfully read with just the right lightness of touch. I love the old-worldy references to dressing for dinner and unspeakable wireless sets in tallboys. And does a picture come to life to herald a murder, much like a rough patch in the road comes to life to foretell a fatal accident in "A Coincidence."? There's certainly a good deal more to Alan than meets the eye!
Another good story! Since your reading of “The Hair” a few months ago, Simon, I have been revisiting the stories of A J Alan, some of which I read years ago but had forgotten about. I eagerly waait your next story and am never disappointed but I must say you read Alan's stories as of they were written in your voice. I found a collection of his stories to read silently to myself after the previous ones you read but I have to say.they benefit enormously from your special treatment . I read the collection bearing your voice in my mind but to hear it in reality was such a treat. I laughed out loud at several points..goodness knows what my i neighbours must think..I love in the middle of a terrace. Still, not quite so bad as when I was once listening to a rugby.commentary and cheered rather loudly ..my neighbour called to see if I was ok! Keep them coming ....such a delight always.
