    I’m sure making these videos takes a while, but don’t ever get discouraged, you make some of THE best videos ever. The calm demeanor, the pacing for the review, the random stuff you include (video and audio) even the choices of games, just such a vibe. You’re amazing and I can’t wait for your next one!

    I saw this pop up in my notifications and wanted to wait until I was ready to sit down and give it my undivided attention. The intro with you flipping around doing samurai stuff with the katana, followed by you sitting in the grass narrating in Japanese as if all of this is totally normal for a review is amazing. It felt like a fever dream.
    Your vibe, presentation and creativity continues to impress and I might have to see about hunting this game down!

  • @MrFoxInc
    @MrFoxInc 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    The production value on this one is INSANE and well worth the wait!! You've outdone yourself. And you wrapped it up so nicely, too. The intro had me smiling because it felt like an enjoyable, silly start to the review, but the footage of you at the end somehow made it more meaningful and nice. A good wrap for the review which was just as good. Enthusiastic, genuine, not afraid to word out what you think is lame about the game, but always casual, relaxed, without gimmicks. So, as always, good review! I feel like I said it before but the fact that it comes to mind again just speaks for the fact: You've come a long with these and it's fun to keep watching!
    Also, I think I might check this game out, too. 3D-dungeon crawling is not my favorite and it might be an extra annoyance in this game, but the rest sounds great.

    I remember hearing about that boxart from Famidaily and it is so cool to see it in action, and man what a fun intro to the video!! This is one I still have yet to finish, I really love the combat and general flow of the game with the different weapons, but man, like you said, the dungeons are just a slog and really drag the game down for me too. With that being said, it's still a pretty awesome little game from what I've played of it, I might pick it back up and finish it now after watching this because I was super close to the end. Fabulous video as always, they seriously just keep getting better!!

  • @WanderingRustus
    @WanderingRustus 14 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    That intro was amazing! Subbed
    It's funny, I first heard of GFD through GaMetal's Nestalgia VI, a medley of NES covers, which contained his take on the Ryukotsuki Battle Theme (and sounds AMAZING!) and that cover blew me away enough to give the game a try. I'm not very good at it (I don't do platformers well, it's a known skill issue of mine) but that soundtrack as a whole slaps.
    I noticed the Getsu Fuma card in the intro, but fun fact for you, Ryukotsuki's final form also has a Yugioh card called Ryu Kokki (probably a bad translation issue when it came to the states) which has an effect that automatically destroys Warriors and Spellcasters it battles after combat. If somehow you gave both Getsu Fuma and Ryu Kokki battle immunity, they'd destroy each other anyway.

    This is a game i have a lot of fond memories with, so I particularly enjoyed watching and reminicing. The shots and lighting on these videos are always so good and you communicate so well that you had a lot of fun making it. There is a brief aside where you talk about your expectations vs your realizations and I really liked that. If there's one thing i personally would want to see for the next one is you leaning more into this type of story telling, your personal experience with the game beyond a mechanics/stage/story overview. I think it's the more intimate parts of these types of videos that elevate and stay with the viewer (especially those who are unfamiliar with the topic youre talking about). keep HPRshredding.

    • @HPRshredder
      @HPRshredder  17 วันที่ผ่านมา +7

      Thank you so much, man. I really appreciate it. I definitely plan to move things more in that direction little by little. I understand some of the overview stuff can get a little boring and tedious, but I'm working on changing it incrementally. For example, in this episode, I did not detail every single enemy and their moves lmao. Always tempting. I add the chapters so people can skip to what they want. For this episode I was dealing with writer's block (or youtuber's block) for about a month, so I'm just happy I was able to finally get something out.

    Your content really is of high enough quality that I think you deserve a million subs mininum. You don't cover only commonly known games that everyone else talks about, which I really appreciate. Getsufuuma den isn't exactly an obscure title for those who collect famicom, but its a breath of fresh air to hear someone talk about it for almost 50 minutes with this much detail and research backing it.
    Whether this channel is a personal project for you, or you want it to go to higher places, I truly hope you keep it up.

    I understand the presentation of this game being a bit hit and miss for people but for me the over the top, caustic colors really sell the nightmarish environment. That along with having a decorative skeleton density that's pretty exceptional, even for a famicom game, make Getsu Fuuma Den's whole visual style one of my favorites among relatively early games for the console.
    Another really cool game that I'm glad you decided to include in this series.

    The final boss is not actually a sprite. He is a part of the background element. It’s how programmers on the NES got around the sprite limitations of the system.

    • @bananonymouslastname5693
      @bananonymouslastname5693 6 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Yep. I think some of the coolest examples of the approach on NES are in Isolated Warrior. They not only have giant bosses that look cool using animated background tiles, but also use some cool line scrolling effects to make them even more convincing, and the color use makes a couple of them look like early Turbografx games.

    Damn, dude. Incredible production value and video graphics!
    The game looks amazing too. Never played it but it looks like all of my favorite Konami games rolled into one.

    Excellent vid as always. So glad you enjoyed this one. I tackled Fuuma Den back in 2021 and the entire time it just reminded me of the original TMNT NES game. Like if you took Leonardo and placed him in hell.

      You gotta set the shutter speed on your camera to match the hertz of the screen itself. 60hz needs to be shot with a shutter speed of 60 for example. And since the screen itself is typically curved, you have to be mindful of the grill of the screen, so it's going to only need to have a small potion actually in focus. Otherwise things can get wonky. They are very difficult to capture well on camera tbh.

    19:10 the sword animation is very similar to Leonardo's attack in tmnt for the nes.
    Konami made both so it makes sense.
    Also that intro was 👌
