Keeping my hand in with some more rotary aviating!
On this flight we take a trip to the Beatrice B platform out in the Moray Firth, North Sea, a feature in Aerosoft's recent Offshore Landmarks: North Sea and then run a practice casualty pick up from Rosemarkie to Inverness.
There was a technical issue with the sim on landing to collect the casualty so the eagle eyed among you may notice the change in lighting!
The Hype Performance Group H145 & Action Expansion Pack really is a lot of fun and they keep adding to it! Next time I make a video in the H145 we should be looking at the new flight model post SU11.

You always land into the wind on approaching an offshore oil rig. If it isn't ideal due to the rig superstructure the chopper will often crab sideways, and at the last minute use the rudder to turn the nose into the wind.
Also the cranes definitely wouldn't be moving, possibly still up, but boomed in close towards the derrick, however ideally they would be down resting on the boom cradles.
Otherwise the sim looks pretty good, apart from the rig detail.👍🏼

Wonderful video, thank you! I tried build 361 of the H145 today, and it's the first build with new flight model that feels really good to me. Still some things to iron out, but it is getting even better than the old model.

Great video, as usual. I fly this thing a lot, but I've found I don't really enjoy it unless in VR. Helicopters are so much easier to manage in VR, I believe, because of the high level of situational awareness. My old veteran TrackIR has been acting quirky lately, so I've kinda given up on it.
Many thanks John and you are absolutely right, flying this helicopter in VR is so much easier. I can even tell I hold the stick with a lighter touch in VR because my brain has a better connection to what the aircraft is doing.
Gents, beginning to think about VR as well. Which one do you advise plz?

You’ve got smooth capturing compared to my slide shows 🤩 Must be a good PC. And you must be using TrackIR or VR..? Would like to have one. I’m just using the mouse 😬 For some reason my drone camera moves really agressively even if I’ve set up the camera speed very low.
Hey yours is great! Love your videos, so informative and inspiring. The drone camera needs to be set incredibly low to make it work smoothly, you are right it is very aggressive indeed. @@msinerva80 oh the other thing that really helps is to use a gamepad type controller to ‘fly’ the drone. Get the drone speed and rotation speed low, use small inputs on the game pad sticks and it makes it much easier.

is there any performance hit in VR using this compared the ingame uh1 huey ?
I’ve not flown the UH-1 in MSFS so can’t compare.
Also, and I'm just guessing, I wonder if the LZ the hospital was such that you had a land with the tail facing the pathway. I don't know. Because looking at the tablet, it also seemed as if the LZ was in the grass and not where you landed. That might be a glitch. Still, great flying!!!!
What joystick do you use please? I'm currently stuck with a console like controller (horrible for flying Helicopters imo). Thanks!!
Many thanks! This was a custom mission that I made myself so I placed the Hospital landing marker in the helipad on the mission builder map which doesn’t quite match up with the pad in the sim. There is a distance tolerance though that will allow the this sort of difference from what I have seen though.
I use a Virpil WarBRD base with a Thrustmaster Warthog grip. As most of my flying is old warbirds I haven’t taken the springs out of the base or changed the cams so it is still self-centring but the latest H145 beta builds have a setting on the tablet that adjusts the flight model to take that into account.
You know there is a big helipad pack for scotland?
Not really looked for anything yet as with the HEMS I tend to fly out of the same spots but good to know there is one, especially now I have the MD 500E
I actually worked on the Hook up of Beatrice Bravo back in the tail end of 1983. Skimming across the waves is a definite no no min elevation would be 2000ft. min.
Thanks for great video. I have a WinWing orion joystick, collective and throttle, do you know if this H145 works with WinWing devices and how can I get a good throttle setting for flying? I'm just new and love flying in helicopters.

which VR equipment do you have now?
I use Index for VR but all my videos use head tracking. For the last year or more I have been using Grass Monkey King Puck

That was great flying in my humble opinion. I have the H135 & it is the only heli I'm proficient at with ALL the assists off ...I actually find it too easy to fly compared with others like CowanSim & several other helicopters I own but I can't fly them like the H135. In fact some I just can't land safely very often. Can I ask if you use any flight assists?
Many thanks! Yes the CowanSim MD 500E is a lively beast compared to the smoother H145. I don’t use any of the MSFS assists so not sure what they do.
@@Dreamsofwings "not sure what they do" ...lol ...they ruin the experience! MSFS has two bespoke helicopter assists. You'll find them under "Piloting" in the "Assists". I think they are defaulted to "On" as I found flying heli's too easy. I found them & turned them OFF ...they are "Cyclic Assist & Tail Rotor Assist". When turned off the heli's respond realistically & were next to impossible to fly without much practice.
You may be flying with those Assist's "ON' if you've not checked.
@@MsTheCopsno I switched them off when the heli update came out. I am saying I am not sure what they do because I've never flown with them so I don't know how they effect the sim.
@@Dreamsofwings I see . You got my respect ...that was a smooth flight in the wind executed with no assists. I'm still trying to do roof top landings on the first attempt. I have all assists off ...so a hard landing results in a failure. ...thanks for the chat my friend.

I have one question ! Maybe you can help me! Yesterday I've tried to fly on H145, but after starting engines and all needed proceedures on primary display of heli was written : MGR low pressure and oil of MGR in the red zone and also when I try to pull up heli with full throttle and "high" possition of engine two switches it's just poping on the ground and do not fly off the ground.Do you know how to settle this two problems? I didn't found any video information on youtube about ghis problems . Heli was activated!
@@Jackson12438 sounds like you need to check the maintenance page on the tablet and do repairs. That should solve the problem I think. 👍🏻

@@Jackson12438 yes you will need to repair on the tablet otherwise it will remain broken. Let me know if you fix it
