also when you visit the shop of the factory in france , the seller is saying that the soap is enough for one year shaving so the cost per shave is then 48 euro / 365 days = 0,13 euro per shave which is really nothing, therefore if this is the only soap you are buying each year , you should not be worried about the price, do agree on that , also , a person who buys this kind of soap , first is looking for the quality and then for the price and when he is happy with the results of the soap, price does not matter , the same occurs when you buy a french wine, therefore french people are "bon vivants " they know what life is all about.
There’s a lot of criticism for this soap. Largely because of the cost but few if any seem to understand it’s a triple milled soap and will last years even for a daily shaver that wants to 3 pass every day. That’s in extreme use case. For everyone else this will last many years at the 200g they give you which is above if not almost double what others provide.
No longer comes in glass jars, they said their supplier doesn't make glass jars anymore just plastic, as if there is a lack of glass jars out there. As if they dont make enough profit. It took them only 6 weeks to reply by email. I'm not convinced this soap is amazing, there is a lot more soaps out there that are better value for money and perform better.
Thanks for the info Daniel. I didn't know they stopped the glass jars. I thought that was part of the reason they sold it as a higher end soap. Plastic tubs are just like everyone else! Lol! I agree with you that there are lots of soaps being made today that are as good or even better than MdC. Cheers. Kevy 👍
I hope this year going to europe with my son, I am from belgium and live in mexico , and this time I will do everything possible to visit the savonnerie ( soap production facility ) in france and buy some shaving jars, it is like buying french cheese or wine or other typical products, you shave taste it before you die , also I am willing to visit the marsellais soap facility , an other special soap type from france, regards robert
Hi Curt. I've tried a sample of the St.James of London cream and you're right, it is a great cream with an amazing scent and wonderful performance. Another to add to the list! Lol! 😀
+Ionut-Alexandru Batrinache There isn't really a right or wrong way to load the soap onto the brush. Everyone is different. Some people like lots of soap onto the brush and some like less. Thanks for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it :)
I don't get the hype for this soap and even if I had the money I wouldn't buy it. Call me stingy, but I would prefer to buy one more Phoenix & Beau soap! Or a Razorock. Cheers Kevy!
I'd like to try this soap again. This was in a passaround box and I'd only been shaving for a few months. It would be good to try it again. I think there's been many soaps as good or even better than this, since this video was made. Cheers. Kevy 👍
The price is very misleading though. A jar of this soap lasts years so the cost averages out to be on par with most others. It's subjective though, if someone gets some sort of placebo effect from buying this then good on them. I've tried a number of soaps and creams and really they all work just fine. Some soaps have more scent to them than others and a few form a lather better but most provide just as much slickness as each other.
after checking the history of the soap and where it is made etc, the production cost including overhead , R and D ( which does not exist ) etc etc, should be around 10 euro , they sell it in the factory at 48 euro , so almost 5 times the cost , so benefit must be very high, so really what you are paying for is the name and the history , not really the value of the product, which is understandable, the same reason why people are paying for expensive shoes , expensive perfums, the cost for making these items is normaly 10 to 20 % of the price , thats the art of making money, also the reason why people are buying such kind of product is that they like to buy expensive things ( totaly understable ) and that they are curious to find out why these things are expensive . greetings from mexico , that does not mean that the quality of the product is not great , only saying that the price is more related to the brand name then to the product.
Wow...so its the easiest soap recipe ever. These ingredients in that order are litteraly given to soap makers who first try a shaving soap. And then they sell it for over 60$... That is some serious profit for the soaper.
Yes, I'm not convinced it's worth the cost. I don't think I'll buy it. Luckily this was only on loan to me in a passaround. It is a great performing soap all the same. Cheers. Kevy 😀

Thanks Man, I was about to buy it, not anymore:)
Thanks for the review. I love MdC. I have the Fougère.
I love the Fougere so much.
Hey, Kevy, there is an American soap called Sampsons. Same ingredient list. Great soap. $24...Cheers!
I'll need to search for that one. Cheers. Kevy 👍
Lucky you! U got it in glass jar, not in the plastic(PETG) one!
You're right, I think the early ones were sold with the glass jar. Cheers. Kevy 👍
Yeah! Nothing exclusive about it anymore - just another puck in the shaving-wall:P

That sounds like you're going to have a great trip to Europe Robert. Cheers. Kevy 👍

I suppose that this great artesenal soap is cheaper in france , buying in the shop of the facility where they make this soap
I suspect it will be. Kevy 👍
Is it really necesarry to brush the soap for that long? Thanks!
Yes :)
***** I've read on a forum that it only takes 10-15 circles to load the brush. I didn't believed, that's why i asked.

+Kevy Shaves kev how do u get involved in a pass around group love to try some new stuff, cheers matt
+Shave Journey send me a message and I'll let you know.
Watched this one more carefully.
The lather it provides is airy, not really dense.
I was young, I needed the money! 😂 I can get a great lather using MdC. Cheers. Kevy 😊
@@kevyshaves4109 hahahaha good choice!! Make a new video to check it 😜
Kevy, that stuff costs about $54 in the States. It's for the Rolls Royce set who must have the "best," not for mere mortals like me.
It is an expensive soap. I don't own one either. This was in a pass around box. Good soap. Cheers. Kevy :)

This is great stuff and by all accounts it should last a year. It is worth it, but be smart - just keep four or five soaps in your rotation.
Jim Stull Great advice Jim. If only it were that easy! Lol! 😉
LOL . my advise about four or five soaps - I have 21 and many creams. Do as I say , not as I do !! Haha
Jim Stull Ha ha! Brilliant Jim 😂
Kevy , you used a ridiculous amount of soap.. All you need is a few twirls !!
I was young, I needed the money! 😂😂
