Dump the losers even if you’re technically taking a small loss on them. In a year from now you won’t even feel it and be glad that you had the cash to go harder into new sets. If I was running a store the same way with distributor access that’s basically what I’d do just to be sure I’m buying everything I need to, blow out the garbage and go as heavy as possible into the winners.
Thanks, I'll have to take inventory of what packs it would generate and what they might go for. I figure it's a lot of SV1, 3, 4 that could be hard to sell. I'll try to go through what I have tomorrow and count it up.
This is a similar dilemma I had with reselling shoes. Sometimes even taking a small loss (10-15%) would be worth it just to get product moving. Its better to have that money free for other ventures, because money that's tied up isn't making anything.
Here is an Idea. For your preorder for Prismatic Evolutions, bundle each PE item with your existing stock. Honestly, with your prices being very fair and PE so hyped, it should move your dead stock.
I was all for the ripping of packages and bundling the loose packs, but I change my mind. This idea is best! Prismatic Evolutions is going to be so hot, this will surely work!
Thanks for being so transparent on this! We opened our shop about 6 weeks ago, and we’re going through this with some of the older Scarlet/Violet Japanese booster boxes. Really great content!
Appreciate your order, thank you! The bundles had sold out before you ordered, there were only 5 total of them, because I only had 5 ursaluna boxes. You got a great deal, cheapest price online and free shipping.
Not yet, but I panicked about it for awhile at the beginning, knowing it will someday happen. Shopify and Paypal do have some chargeback protections for merchants, but not every order falls under that category. Shopify does give you details about fraud warnings (they track buyer characteristics, ip address, address, etc). I had 1 high level fraud order and I cancelled it. It was for a booster box case to a reshipper address (to send out of country). It was an expensive lesson, because before that I had automatic payment acceptance when someone ordered, now I manually approve them at the time of shipping. This gives me the opportunity to review the order before accepting payment (its still pre-approved by the bank). It was an little expensive lesson, because it was a $600 order, and after cancelling I was still stuck with the fees for processing the payment. I think it was like $40 I was out, but better then being out $600+shipping+chargeback fees.
I have two boys that love to open packs, so I appreciate any deals. You already have great prices compared to what I can get locally. Not sure how successful or easy it would be for you to setup. Would an option for us to purchase card products, either by specific product or dollar amount, for you to take and donate to a local hospital or toy drive. That way you can get rid of stale product and don’t lose out on shipping fees. My middle son got into Pokemon about 8 years ago while going through his cancer treatment. I know those kids who stay long term in hospitals get bored and love getting fun stuff.
In my humble opinion, these style boxes that are "normal" ex boxes, you have to take a loss on. I would for sure try to take the lowest loss possible, you lose margins here but hopefully can gain in other great products. HOPEFULLY with the allocations, your able to get some better product to reverse or adjust your margin's on your more profitable items
Thanks, ya, I think its just something I have yet to get used to. Unfortunately, I feel like it means i have to get more on the good products, and I was trying to have great prices across the board. Basically I have to plan these losses in, and just accept them.
Hey Scott, I heard Mason of CNA Games mention this but his state taxes him on inventory at the end of the year (another reason stores fire sale stuff on Black Friday and beyond). Does your state do that? If so, It might be better to just sell whatever you can ASAP. I think it's cool you're even attempting to give your viewers an opportunity to save some money, even on the slim margins you're already at.
Wow, I can't even believe that's a thing, I never heard of it, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I looked it up and no, North Carolina doesn't do that. I've filed my business taxes for 3 years now, I assume the CPA would have warned me about that. I do have to know what my inventory is at the end of the year, along with how much I sold, and what that inventory cost me. People have me thinking maybe I should rip some of these tins and sell the loose packs.. i could try to sell the promos too, these paradox destinies ones go for like 3-5 each.
@@PokemonFamClubThat's good NC doesn't do that. The methods the IRS uses to milk us are insane, no? Tax on top of tax on top of tax, smh. The loose packs route is a great idea. Definitely easier on the wallet as far as shipping goes. Shipping prices are ridiculous, man.
I like the bundling idea. Things will get easier as you get more allocations and simply more variety. Even if I wanted one or two items I'm one of those people that goes for free shipping. If I can't make that up with mostly things I really want I will pass. I always look you up first and you often have the best price, but I can't get to that 150 with other stuff. You'll get there though. You're a hustler and hard work pays off in the end.
I don't sell on there myself, that's just an affiliate link that gives me a commission if people use it. I only sell on ebay and my site currently. I haven't gotten into tcgplayer sales because like ebay, the fees are very high, like 13% and with the low prices I have, it wouldn't be worth it.
@PokemonFamClub i hear ya there, I've only sold a few things on TCG because of the fees, I want to start my own website but not sure of the cost to start let alone where to even start a website, guess you can kinda call me techtarded
Thanks, I'm thinking about doing that with all the tins. The packs aren't worth what I paid, but i'll recoup most money and have it for collections people want.
@ I know your really trying to get the most funds you to go big on Prismatic Evolutions, but you said it yourself you not 100% sure on what all you will be allowed to purchase of that set. Would hate to see you self yourself just a little short and then not be allowed to order as much as you hoped. Thinking about this even harder, whatever you don’t open for loose packs, pair those hard to sell items with some of the new Prismatic Evolutions. You know you’re going to sell out of that set, especially at your very competitive prices! People will buy it up just for the opportunity to rip some of the new set! Rant over, sorry lol! Always looking forward to your videos! Thank you for all the great informative content!
I'm not sure, sorry. I apprecaite you're chomping at the bit, but right now I'm barely getting anything, so I'm holding out to see my full allocation. I think it will be at least 2 weeks before I know.
Theres a reason sellers sell items like these at a loss. Its to keep distrubtion happy while moving the money into more products that will turn over faster. Product sitting on a shelf at 0 is not as good as moving the money into items that easily churn and burn.
Thanks, ya, i think going forward, I'll just price them at cost and take the lump from the get go, hoping people will buy some other things to make up for it.
I hear you and I appreciate the feedback!. I was hoping the Grand Adventure and Ursaluna in the ex box set would help move it quickly, since they have Surging Sparks. I also choose the items based on their form factor and fitting into a box together. Other then my last few Surging Sparks Build & Battle, I think most items are not super desirable right now. I'll keep thinking.
Hm. I think the prices are pretty good. Together with free ship at 150 and no tax it's better than most places. The variety is less because it's a new shop but no points off for that.
@@PokemonFamClubyea it’s unfortunate to take a loss but the hobby is going incredibly strong! I would liquidate everything and go all in on prismatic evolutions and then surging sparks booster boxes when that rolls around. You can break down the tins and sell the loose packs to streamers.
Honestly I don’t see anything you can drop lower. Your prices are better than anything I see in az
What about breaking down your unwanted inventory and selling the packs loose?

Agreed, or breaks them down and try to sell them to a rip and shipper, maybe make a small profit on the packs
Thanks, I'll have to take inventory of what packs it would generate and what they might go for. I figure it's a lot of SV1, 3, 4 that could be hard to sell. I'll try to go through what I have tomorrow and count it up.
Ya, next time they have ex boxes, I will probably just list them for basically what I pay, and just eat it... long term, shouldn't matter.
This is a similar dilemma I had with reselling shoes. Sometimes even taking a small loss (10-15%) would be worth it just to get product moving. Its better to have that money free for other ventures, because money that's tied up isn't making anything.

The bundles seem like a really good idea, shipping those 19.99 boxes is a pain alone
Thanks for being so transparent on this! We opened our shop about 6 weeks ago, and we’re going through this with some of the older Scarlet/Violet Japanese booster boxes. Really great content!
Damn i cleaned out adventure sets from you but hurt to see it is a part of bundles
