- How you plate food is almost as important as the food itself. We challenged Test Kitchen folks Brad, Molly, Andy, Priya, Chris, Gaby and Amiel to prepare and plate two full carrots in any way they wanted in just one minute.

I'm not here to see them fail. I hope that's not why they think Claire's series is such a success. I'm there to see her overcome obstacles and prevail. There was one episode where she gave up, which is the one true failure, and I hated that episode.

I'd really love to see a challenge where everyone has to make a two course meal for two people for $20 of ingredients that they can buy anywhere in NYC, so we can see who knows the city and the best like niche food shops too, plus cooking on a budget is great too

Honestly, I would legitimately do what Brad did.
I thought it was literally just taking a carrot and plating it as is.
Claire would have made a three tier carrot cake and had 30 seconds to spare.
@Tony Marselle Yeah, there's no real middle ground with Claire. That's what I like.
And then in the last 5 seconds, it'll tip over and she'll start cry-laughing.
They probably edited Claire's clip out because this would've caused her to meltdown for sure. Claire's my favorite, but sometimes she's too hard on herself.
Ya, her prep would've been the cake. The minute would be adding sugared carrot swirls to the top!
Unfortunately, Claire should have brought in her lawyer when she signed a contract to reverse engineer various popular confections. I bet she's in the basement until the science of the perfect poki crisp has been deduced.

No. Their chefs are really bad platers. Watch all the pst few videos. They plate like a bachelor cooking in a tiny studio apartment kitchen. Zero aesthetic skills. Which is weird for a TH-cam channel. For example gabbys empanadas were so ugly and unappetizing.

@Nick Arora And then the lazy versions which don't taste as good. Tried shortcuts on my mom's Indian recipes and they don't work out. Maybe cause I know Indian food but from her first appearances she seemed outclassed in that kitchen of stars.

I love this thing that BA does, where they do challenges and then they show you quick results but they never analyze, they never announce a winner, they never judge . They always fall back to "it doesnt matter who chopped the fastest" or it "doesnt matter who plated the nicest" its just nice to see the process and learn and be entertained by these professionals..

he could be Ron's son, I totally see that. Ron isn't exactly proud of him, Brad shares his dad's beliefs and hobbies but is much more laid back, Andy instantly becomes his fan when they meet.
I love how Amiel always looks like he just got off a redeye flight after a weekend bender in Vegas.
