I probably shouldn't say this, but I'm envious of that one person standing in the empty theatre, listening to Yanni play. Almost a personal performance!
as a sound engineer, I get to hear performers do their thing before almost every event I mix... it's a nice perk to balance off all the stress of actually setting up and mixing the performance. also, the best musicians usually make it easy: when they touch the instrument, they just rule it! but the ones that aren't that great are a struggle, and my job is to make sure the public can't tell which is which.
