Hi John… nice list ! It took me a while for 70s Chicago to click. I grew up on the 80s Chicago albums and I still enjoy them. Then one day the 70s Chicago clicked and I love it. Chicago 2 is fantastic and what a one two punch with the Chicago Transit Authority ! Love Led Zep 3 ! One of my favourites from their catalog also! Yes that second side of Paranoid is killer ! Your last video of top albums from the 1980 has gotten me on a Talking Heads kick when you had them at #1. I have a greatest hits of theirs but not any studio albums. I’m thinking of picking up the one you showed plus the reissue of Talking Heads 77 that just came out on Friday. Thank you John . Chez
Hi Chez, thank you! Yes, I heard the '80s Chicago first. We had MTV in the States in '84 so they played those videos from Chicago 17 heavy. I have been on a Chicago kick the last couple years having picked up Chicago 5, 6, 7, and 10 along with Live In Japan from the tour for 3 and that is excellent! Oh nice! Remain in Light is my favorite with Fear of Music not far behind. My first Talking Heads was also a best of CD, the 2-disc collection, Sand in the Vaseline. I wish they put out that reissue of Talking Heads 77 on CD in addition to vinyl and blu-ray. Well, I may make the plunge for the latter. Thank you Chez! Cheers!
Here's mine John I was a 20 yr old kid that year lol 10.Guess Who-American Woman 9.Atomic Rooster-Death Walks Behind You 8.Crosby,Stills,Nash & Young-Deja Vu 7.James Gang-James Gang Rides Again 6.CCR-Cosmos Factory 5.Steppenwolf-7 4.Neil Young-After The Gold Rush 3.Deep Purple-In Rock 2.Spirit-Dr.Sardonicus 1.Uriah Heep-Very 'Eavy,Very 'Umble
Thanks Thomas! I wasn't ready to sprout out just yet! Great choices. I have to dig into the Steppenwolf catalog. All I ever owned was a bargain bin best of cassette. Same with the Guess Who. Spirit, there's a name you rarely hear anymore. I love "Nature's Way". Cheers!
We share 3 choices in our Top 10 for 1970. My opinions are exactly the same as yours on Sabbath’s Paranoid. Never tire of War Pigs! Fairies Wear Boots swings! Nice job John.
Thanks DC! Yeah, so love that swing on "Fairies Wear Boots"! And "War Pigs" is just iconic! What sense of space and one of the most memorable lyrics in rock music, not just metal. Cheers!
I picked the debut above Paranoid just because I love Wizard, the title track and Warning so much. 2 of the first tracks I played on guitar were Electric Funeral + Hand Of Doom though.
I can tell you, Eric, that it will be easier to do 2000 than the others because I have significantly less albums from that year. I also have a lot of burned CDs from that year because I was buying downloads or friends were burning me more stuff but I don't count those when I construct a list. Cheers!
@JohntheMusicNut I'm much better with the specific years of 70s and 80s albums, because I own/liked far less from this century I guess. The only 2 that spring to mind are the Veruca Salt and Halford albums from 2000.I'm sure there are many others I liked but don't have.
@@ericrobertson2024 Great call on Halford! I never heard that until Peter Jones turned me on to it about 6 months ago. That is a killer album. I am thinking I may bang out a Top 10 of 2000 by the weekend or so. I don't have a lot from that year on original CD but there are several from my favorite artists or bands.
I'm gonna listen to the H,S,A,S. album again.I think it was one of those 60+ LPs from 84 that were perfect except for one song. Which ironically is true for both Jailbreak and most of those on my ten from 1970 list.Surprised no one mentioned Band Of Gypsies yet.
For me, it may be two songs for HSAS. But oh what a killer album and it was hard to leave out "Top of the Rock" for my Top 10 from '84 on the Warehaus. Oh, I love Band of Gypsys. I should have mentioned it along with Live Cream (Nick chose this in the comments) but I stayed away from live albums. Yes, even with mentioning Woodstock, haha. Cheers!
@JohntheMusicNut I'm relistening to H/S/A/S and it's definitely not one of those with only one weak track lol,, idk what I confused it with because VOA wasn't either..I do like Valley Of Kings,My Hometown,Top Of The Rock and one of the live tracks they did which wasn't on the original album (Since You Came) is also good....Admitting I didn't like that Ben Orr album Grant featured in Oct. was difficult , this one is faring better.
@@ericrobertson2024 Thanks for the tip on Since You Came, Eric. I don't believe there's a weak one on HSAS but a couple that aren't as strong as the rest. Yeah, I was asked to do that Ben Orr one but I never dug in on the Cars' solo albums. Cheers!
@@JohntheMusicNut Wikipedia states there are 6 live tracks aired on the MTV show or Westwood One Radio Concert that weren't on the HSAS album..The top Hagar albums to me were Montrose debut,Standing Hampton,Ofcourse 5150 but there's plenty of quality within all the bands he's been in.

Chicago II is so bass heavy it’s unreal. There are parts of that album that aren’t my thing but that bass is too good to not be appreciated and enjoyed. I would go with the ST Sabbath album over Paranoid both from that same year. But that’s just me. NIB, The Wizard, Sleeping Village, Evil Woman, Sabbath. Such great songs. Easy Action is a great garage rock album. I love it. There is a live Who album from that year that’s pretty good. I cannot remember what it’s called right now.
I definitely like the debut a bit more than Paranoid. I've always loved Wizard,Black Sabbath and Warning, I guess hearing those less than those 3 played to oblivion tracks from Paranoid plays into it though....Who -- Live At Leeds i think was 70.
