  • Let me explain why I call this air ride...the leaf springs are only 1,250 lbs so when your load is over 1,250 then you are essentially riding on air. This makes your air shocks last longer...that is the beauty of my system the leaf spring compliment the air shocks for an adjustable air ride over 1,250 lbs. no one else has this or uses this that I have seen.
    Set your air shocks to more than the leafs and you are riding on air.
    Any lug pattern available jeep, Toyota, Ford, Chevy etc...5 on 4.5", 5 on 5", 6 on 5.5", all avail.
    Very little trailer bounce,
    Lids with SUSPA gas struts, 3" axle rated 7,000 lbs., Brakes available, 2" to 2-5/16" Ball Couplers available
    For sale

    Thats not air ride bud....where is the air spring/bag so you can adjust ride height? 2800$!?!? And brakes are an option at that price? Damn man. You can get an independent 3500# axle-less axle (the axles doesn't go all the way across the bottom of the trailer, makes for tons of clearance) with brakes, bearing, all the hardware you need and is available in a bunch of lug patterns for under 1000$ brand new from Timbren. Thats just the 3500# axle. They make them all the way up to 7000# if you needed it. They make a system without brakes for 750$ or you can spend 1250 and upgrade to disk. Timbren also makes a full air ride system with disc brakes and oil bath hubs that cost around 2000$ for a 3500# axle. Really, all your system is, is a leaf sprung independent system with a shock to help dampen things. But, the way that shock is mounted, its not able to do the job as well as it should. Also, the leaf spring is just a slipper style, you should be running a shackle so it is able to really use the available suspension travel. If the spindle ended up being too far down then you just use a drop spindle to position it where you want it to be. Its a cool idea, and im sorry for slamming on you like this i really don't mean to be rude. I just see some design flaws that can be easily fixed. Once you do you will have good system. What you really should do it get rid of the leaf all together and install air bags where the leafs are. Then keep the shock to dampen the ride but you need to have the shock more vertical. Mount it further inboard and weld on a tab so its how it needs to be. You can always run a drop spindle to adjust ride height later if tou need to. Good luck. Id subscribe and check back later to see if you made any changes.

      Here is a perfect example of a very well designed air ride system that is made to be used on brand new trailers, as well as update old trailers that used to have spring or torsion suspension and most likely electric drum brakes. The upgrade to air ride makes a HUGE difference in ride quality and the upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes isn't even a comparison. Electric drum brakes that are brand new and performing the best they can is like 15-20% of what disc brakes are capable of. Its absolutely insane how well they work! Here's a link to the Timbren air ride axle.

      He asked about where is the air ride because that is what the title of the video says. But then you start the reply with, thats not air ride bud....if its not air ride why is it in the title of the video. Air shocks don't count as air ride in most peoples opinion. Why not just put off road trailer with air shocks?

      It has air shocks instead of air bags. I have air shocks on my truck and I like them but I'm not sure I'd use them alone without a spring backup like this guy.

    High torsional force will destroy those suspension prematurely under load,, consider installing counter torsional force tools

    Brakes are cool and you need a hanger and shackle for that spring to work properly

    Essas bandejas vão torcer com o peso. Suspensão independente não vai dá certo. Sem eixo não vai aguen tar.

    Get rid of the outdated leaf spring and use a coil spring

    • @mhrepoman
      @mhrepoman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You dont use a coil spring on a trailer. And also, leafs arent out dated. They still use them on vehicles being made today. He could use a rubber spring which is a newer style spring used on trailer axles or ideally run a set of air bags and ditch the leaf spring all together. The design has potential, it just needs some design adjustments. The shock needs to be mounted slightly different and the leaf needs to be removed and an airbag be used instead. Then install a rubber bump stop so if the airbag gets a puncture the trailer could be limped to a service station and not be stuck on the highway. Also, at that price it should definitely have disk brakes. At nearly 3000$ installed, that axle should have all of the upgrades like air ride, gas shocks, disc brakes and oil bath hubs.
