So this took place on the day the world ended. You know, if the world actually did end on that day, it would be a fitting end to Wheel of Fortune breaking that record.
She's lucky she has this record. She can thank the unlucky contestant in 1985 who racked up $62,400 but then incorrectly guessed a letter. That was the infamous puzzle "THE THRILL OF VICTORY & THE AGONY OF DEFEAT".
I remember that too! I was like Oh no when she called the S. That was heartbreaking. And she lost 10000 more in the final spin if she solved both puzzles, she could have set a record in 1985 and it would have been a record even without the prize puzzle! It would have been all cash too!
She can thank the contestant that forgot the seventh word in STAR LIGHT STAR BRIGHT FIRST STAR I SEE TONIGHT. That cost that contestant over 60,000 and I can’t find that episode when that happens.
The record was broken again by contestant Dave in April 2020, solving all except for 1 puzzle, ending up with a total of $71,890. In the bonus round, he wins a $40,000+ car, making his total $113,055, making him the technical only $100,000 winner of Season 37.
I HATE games like that. If an opponent did that and I were shut out and Pat said, "Well, we have $1,000 for you..." I'd reply "I don't need your bleepin' charity. All I want to do is go home and forget I was ever here!"
@@Lhrj and @Joe Bitman IMO, they 100% INTENTIONALLY set up a heterogenous mix of contestants. In other words, they WANT such differences in amounts won to occur. They can then show commercials stating, "(Insert contestant's name here) won $92,000 (or whatever amount) on Wheel of Fortune. Tune in tomorrow. You might see another Big Winner!" or some such. A game in which the person who comes in third won "only" $10.000 while the winner won $15,000 Is Not as good for their ratings. During the auditions, I REFUSE to believe that they do not see such disparities in the acumen of prospective contestants. And the result is that at least one and often two such contestants are nothing more than Sacrificial Lambs. I have reached the Point in which, if a contestant has $10,000 at the end of the first round (the probability of which would be significantly increased if that contestant won both toss-ups in addition to that round) and the other two have $0, I say, often out loud, "Another Rigged Game" and change the channel. I Do NOT need the Aggravation. They should be ASHAMED of Themselves!
Fable Foreacre There was also an episode where a contestant got over $100,000 by spinning the wheel but she got a bankrupt before she could win it. I think it happened in the 80s or early 90s
Sooooo painful to listen to my sister solve these puzzles lol, but due to someone getting one wrong because of essentially a accent she made sure to annunciate

One of the reasons why I think he should step down; we need someone who actually routes for the contestants. He wasn’t always like that, though; I remember a time when he was genuinely excited to see them win. Honestly, he’s been going through the motions for quite some time now, and doesn’t really seem to enjoy hosting the show very much anymore. Just my opinion.
This makes me remembered Sheri's game. She had racked up more than $70000 in her game before she went to the bonus round. What an outstanding player!
Plus the BR $33k totaling her winnings to over $110k!!! (no confetti)
@@chris.twentyeightt yes true
An amazing contestant that was breaking a record in one terrific wheel of fortune game with almost $70,000.
A great player
Contestant: Does an amazing job and wins big
Pat: Well now we have no money left >:(
The lady next to her had a great attitude!

They really owe the IRS a lot of money after that main game record. Perhaps from "Jeopardy!?"
