    QOTD: What style of invitation flat lays do you like better, traditional grid-based or organic?

    • @jessicat3372
      @jessicat3372 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love both and it's really helpful seeing both layouts with the same invitation set! But if I had to choose, I think the organic flat lay is my favorite. 😊

    I continue to be captivated and inspired by your work! These flat lay techniques and styles are dreamy! I love that these tips can also be applied to photographing other objects too! I like all styles for different reasons, but if I had to choose one, I'd go with the grid (bc OCD 😂). Thanks for sharing yet again Chels! 👏📸💖

    Is there any chance you could do a video on how to layout and photograph letterpress invite. I have notice that so many photographer have no idea how to capture that 2 demential look of letterpress as it impresses into the paper. I am a letterpress printer and designer for letterpress and greeting cards and I always struggle with photographing them the right way to show off how beautiful the paper and impression that is uniquely letterpress.

    Hi Chelsea, Can you make a video about your youtube video's lighting? What do u use? Is it all natural light?

    • @ChelseaNicole
      @ChelseaNicole  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Enas! Yep, I use mostly natural window light + a ring light on low, just to brighten me up my face a bit in some videos. Using mostly natural light for video has its benefits and drawbacks - biggest drawback being limitations in when/how long I can film for. I love the idea of doing a video sharing tips on using window light. It totally applies to both photography and video creators. :)

    Do you get all these elements and invites days in advance to shoot or do you collect the day of to photograph and style?

    • @ChelseaNicole
      @ChelseaNicole  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Eric! For a wedding, if possible I like to collect a photographer copy of the invitation suite in advance (one less thing for the couple to think about that day) - but I photograph it and their other getting ready details (shoes, rings, jewelry, and any other special details) the morning of the wedding. Or, sometimes if there’s not sufficient time I’ll bring some fresh florals home, put it in my fridge to help preserve it and capture more of the invite the day after.

  • @alexisrose4221

    so would i bring my own little backdrops like you were using? isn’t it best to incorporate the venue?

    • @ChelseaNicole
      @ChelseaNicole  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Alexis, I love using elements within the venue if they match the aesthetic of the wedding - but this isn’t always the case. Many times the hotel room may have patterned carpet, chairs, etc. that aren’t aligned the style your client hired you for or the style of their wedding. And it then becomes a game of crossing your fingers hoping you get something good to work with. By taking the extra step of bringing a styling kit, it puts the control back in your hands ensuring you can create consistent, beautiful images no matter what. :)

  • @morganbedford4721
    @morganbedford4721 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you have a checklist or full collection of images from one flat lay you can share? I get lost with how many angles and details you can photograph and don’t know that all of them actually serve the client well. When do you know you’ve got what you need?

    • @ChelseaNicole
      @ChelseaNicole  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question!! I love this idea. But as a quick answer - for invitation photos, I usually get a few shots of my main setup as top down both vertical and horizontal, then move in for a handful of closeup / couple different angles. You don’t really need a ton, just a few for variety and to showcase the different pieces (ie: reply card, etc.) If it’s a really cool invitation suite and I have time sometimes I’ll also break a couple of the key elements off (ex: the main invite by itself or save the date) & style then separate. But that’s bonus. :)
