i'm likely wrong on this But i imagine that kadokawa and such are likely spending more money on their merchandising as of recently in terms of quality, especially if bandai is producing it. meanwhile toho is just churning out more and more money, I imagine it's a money thing. Toho got more characters, fans want those characters, while kadokawa can do a less is more approach. quite literally, with the showa kaiju of gamera being confirmed to appear in the line. Anything godzilla related from bandai has just been hit or miss as of late and that's a sad thing to say. conditions and deals likely had to be met or specific cuts in quality. Gamera figs coming with some amazing accessories and having amazing paint AND revisiting and touching up a sculpt? that's almost never heard of in anything shma related product. I sorta wish toho would take the same approach. (and to fix up the mv line up, but we all know they won't.)
The headsculpt on V1 99 Gamera was utter dog shit. Great review as always, love the way you tell shit how it is and see things objectively, without rose tinted glasses.
Few days ago, I preorder the S.H. Monsterarts MechaGodzilla, Fire Rodan, and Garuda Makuhari Kessen ver. , before the preorder stopped. And I’m excited for it, because it’s going to be my first MechaGodzilla SHM. Oh, this Gamera SHM is better than the 2019 version.
I knew this 1999 gamera was a good idea to buy instead of the rebirth one. Why? Cause it has more accessories than just a flying pose, movie accurate head and its paint detail reminds me of the TMNT a lot.
Two MonsterArts Gamera back to back but actually different ones confused me at first. I thought this is the review of the new Gamera but turns out to be the repainted version of an older one. Edit: Wasn't expecting the rant at the end. Yeah, they really didn't do much updating for Shin Godzilla despite it being popular. But maybe previously because of that reason, they know it'll sell regardless.
Shin should not have been as expensive as he was. It's a 7 year old sculpt with no accessories and no new tooling. It astounds me how Gamera, Monster Hunter, and now Yugioh recieve better treatment than Godzilla in a line created for him.
Wow! This video is very very very helpful, make sure i buy much better one. Thank you for made this video, Steven! This Gamera from 1999 is definitely this best one for me, Steven 🤗.
Is godzilla ultima going to get a mention in the whole next rant? Just like a small cameo, other example. In which we have a brand new spanking anime but with a figure with a garbage head sculpt and just as bad eye paint. Yes, I'm aware he's probably not as popular as Shin, but he'll fit the bill with Rebirth Gamera.
I will say, all the MH figures in the line so far have also been S tier figures. It does give me some hope for the line, but even then, Hiya is looking real good as of late
I’m hoping for a good sale to happen on this guy, even though it looks beautiful I don’t wanna pay full price for another 99 Gamera. And I don’t wanna sell my og 99 since that was my first Monsterarts.
Minor problem with attempting to sell the old Gamera figure. With this new one on the market, who would even buy the old one from you? As you said, there's no reason for anyone to buy it. So if you want your money back on that figure, you're kinda shit out of luck.
it's better if they make a bigger shin figure for better sculp like the KKK 89 biogoji and minimal the arms articulation for better and cleaner looks like the hell is wrong with shma shin arms too many ball joint
Everyone needs a gamera in their life. This might be the one for me
At this point, the only one I don't want is the 1995 figure. I own 1996, this version makes me want 1999, and 2023 looks really great as well.
@AgentGodzillaRP1 For fans of the Showa era and completionists, yeah, that would be cool.
Im team showa gamera pretty much classic
@@Mttgcc I kinda wanna see a figure of that 2016 fan made trailer Gamera. That design looked so sick.
@@matthewscorner2990 they also should make a toto from gamera the brave
I'd rather get the Rebirth one, but this one is so cool. Yeah I agree on the fact we get better Gamera figures than most Godzilla figure releases

2:05 thanks for specifying I was worried about the middle eye xD
I used the v1 in a flying pose next to the new one which makes me feel a bit better, lol.

Yeah this is the best Heisei Gamera figure to own. I'd still love to get G1 & G2 versions via reissue or 2.0s but this G3 will holdover for me nicely.

Sunlight just hit mine and the shell is actually translucent around the edges which is really cool
Comparing the 2 1999 Gamera figures, Kyoto Decisive Battle version definitely wins in terms of head sculpt and paint app.
Happy I grabbed this, it’s like the mini xplus with extra goodies. Shin completely agree, had to pass on him again.
I wish there was a trade in program for my less than ideal first version. Such a big improvement.

Wish monsterarts would give this update treatment to more figures…one can dream

I’m happy to have my shin Godzilla figure, as after watching all your reviews it’s the best one for me.

Guess I’m rebuying it
Great review Steven! Wonder if the part 2 in the rebirth will talk about ultima.
Mmmhmm

In all honesty, selling your OG 99 is probably for the best as this one is everything the original wasn't
For you what issues need to be fixed in this figures
I of course wanted both kyoto and rebirth but I looked at prices and I said “hell nah” i’d rather get kyoto

Turtles everywhere!!!! Lets make some turtle soup!!!
Did everybody feel that Steven's brain was about to reach critical mass and meltdown into pure mush after those two rants? I sure do.
You ain't seen nothing yet.
@@StevensToyReviews Wait there's more. Oh, goody. I kid looking forward to it.
