I was the opposite. I spent 20ish tries to get through the fake temple, then right at the end, when I got dumped back outside, I was so confused that I went back inside to try and figure out where I'd made a wrong turn.
Wow, you don't like this level? I actually think it's one of the most interesting levels in the game since it feels truly open with all the split paths etc. But I can see how backtracking this level isn't fun. I remember missing 1 Lum here once which was pretty annoying considering how big it is.

This game was my favorite when i was a child, now this game is 20 years old, time goes by very fast. But i still think that Rayman 2 have a completely unique atmosphere and beautiful levels.
Love the game to death, but I truly despise this level. I HATE how clunky the plums are. And there are just SO MANY sections with them. They're so slow and the camera work is often so awkward, especially when you're going for 100%. Glad I'm done with it in my playthrough.
20:08 Easily the hardest cage location in Rayman 2 and stiff competition with that one cage in Eat At Joe's with the disappearing clouds in Rayman 1. First of all, it's placed in the fuckiest of all parts of this level, having to navigate very tight flows of lava and kinda needing to focus on not dying.Secondly, the sound cue gives you no clue where the cage actually is, exasperated by you having no control over the camera. Lastly, that platforming segment is just mean.
Just done this level and missed the cage at the top of the lava because I thought it was the "right" way like a knob. Now I have to go back through for lums...

The only reason I found this cage as a kid (and this was the very last cage I needed to find) was because I had died in the bright lava triangle next to the entrance, but the camera had turned in the right direction during my death sequence to reveal the hidden path. I will never forget the feeling of that moment of discovery.
27:58 Just came to see this. In my play through of this "Finished it just now" The guardian cutscene DOES NOT END. And he just drowns me in lava EVERY TIME. This level was hard as hell and long as hell, "pun intended" and I was not about to quit. So what I found is that for 1 FRAME of the cutscene. 1 frame before I get drowned by lava in the cutscene, I had control. So what I did was just spam the hell out of the jump button and somehow was able to pass it. "Thanks GoW for teaching the art of spamming buttons" I was wondering who got so high in the office and thought it was a good to have 1 frame of control. Came here to check. Nope. It's just a bug. Oh, well, at least I was able to pass the bug, because who knows how much time I need to recover mentally if I had to redo this whole level again. Remind you, I GOT all the cages on my first play through and yes. It took more than an hour and half. Thankfully, it ended well. This game gives me some good nostalgic vibes since it has no BS transactions, or some need to connect to the internet, or some beafy ass computer that is more expensive than the price of my organs. It's nice ^^
I believe that bug happens when playing on PC using nGlide. It effects the speed of the game which causes multiple timing issues all throughout. I would probably recommend something like Ray2Fix if playing on PC.
13:55 This. This is true hell without any mod. The refresh rate and speed doesnt let you react properly to the final part of the trail. I have spent 1 hour trying to do that damn thing.
Are you using the GOG version? If so, have you tried setting the fresh rate to 120 in the nGlide configuration? That will solve an speed issues and make the game run on normal 60fps.
@@RayCarrot The thing is, I was playing without nGlide (mod), I also was sharing screen via discord so my game ran at 15 fps or something lol, and at the end it was optional to go that way

This sanctuary was definitely 1 of the hardest levels in the entire game for me. I can't even remember how many times I'd died before I made it through for the very first time - probably close to 70 - 90 times.
Wow, they changed what the Teensies and Rayman say at the start of the level in this version. The Teensies explained what the place was in more detail in the Dreamcast version.
Seriously screw the Shell part of this level!!!! I'm playing it right now and I'm stuck in a loop :( Okay just done it :L if you download rayman from GOG it speeds everything up so every shell ride is twice as fast as the speed in this version haha
Go to where the game is installed by right-clicking the shortcut and press "Open file location". If you're using GOG Galaxy you then need to go to the folder Games and then Rayman 2. Here you will see a program called "GXSetup.exe" and one called "nglide_config.exe". In the GXSetup you can change the driver between DirectX and nGlide. DirectX is slightly worse quality, but runs better on modern systems. If you want to keep nGlide, open the nglide config exe and change the refresh rate to 120 and save.

I can't even remember how many times I'd died on this level. Traversing the lava streams on the plums is 1 of the most difficult things ever.

I think you mean the PS1 version. The Dreamcast version has the same cutscenes except for the added one in the Prison Ship.
