Simulation of Sour-Water Stripping in Aspen HYSYS | Damping Factor Importance | Lecture # 25

Problem Statement:
A sour water stream consists of 98.8 wt. % water, 0.5 wt. % ammonia, and 0.7 wt.% H2S is produced from a crude tower. The stream is at 37.78 °C, 2.758 bar, and at a flowrate of 1000 kg/h. The stream is heated to 100 °C, 2.069 bar and then fed to the stripper. The requirement is to produce a pure water stream with a maximum of 0.00005 mole% ammonia, while recovering 99% water. The stripper has 8 stages, with feed entering at 3rd stage. The condenser pressure is 1.979 bar, and reboiler pressure is 2.255 bar.

sir in case which the stages that we don't know, how you determine the stages of the absorber/stripper in HYSYS? since we know if the distilation we can use shortcut column but not with absorber/stripper

Most of the times, while adding comp fraction in monitor tab. My Wt. Error diiferes from yours although i followed the same steps as your and same values. Why this happen? Does it have concequences on the calculations?

Can you tell when to select stream/stage when adding a spec in distillation column?

It will depend on the specification. If any particular value is required from a particular stage, then this spec will be used. However, mostly the specifications presented in the video are used.
