I think every nurse and doctor should team up like this every once in a while. A lot of the time people get so caught up in their own point of view that they forget that other people might have different responsibilities than them. Pairing up like this is such a great way to build understanding and perspective. Really hope more doctors and nurses do this, seems like it would really benefit the work environment (and hopefully patient care)
As a retired RN w/ 40+ years, I totally 💯 LOVE that you appreciate nurses and integrate them in your decision making. MD’s and nurses are trained so very differently, it’s so good to see you interact w/ them! Thank you so much!🙏❤️
As a RN, I appreciate what you do! Not every MD treats nurses with respect or as team members which is sad because we have the same goal-providing the best pt care possible!
I’m not in any way going to be a doctor or training to be a doctor Nor do I have anything to do with doctors. I just love watching these videos because of how interesting they are xx
Same! I literally don't have any interest in working in the medical field being a doctor etc. But I find her videos so intresting and addicting to watch! Its like coffee, YOU NEED IT! haha
Honestly same, medicine is just my side hobby , I’m an artistic person and I’m an architecture student 😄 but I just find these videos that Siobhan posts very interesting and entertaining 😊
I'm a nurse practitioner and I have been on both sides, providing care at the bedside as an RN and now providing coverage for the floor on nights and weekends as a hospitalist. There's so much value knowing what it's like to walk in the others shoes
I'm currently an occupational therapy student in the US, and it was so cool to see all the allied health professions come together to discuss! Also, don't know why, but I found myself smiling halfway through the video. You emit such a positive energy, and I'm sure your patients and their caretakers receive a lot of encouragement from the way you engage and interact with them! Thank you for your videos!!
It's great to see that your hospital seems to take a more holistic approach and has all therapies, social work, community support, spiritual care, etc! So important and often overlooked.
I have shadowed doctors a number of times. It profoundly changed how I relate to them. It helped to understand and move away from from that generalized term “busy” and appreciate their steps in the day. I believe it promotes teamwork as you showed in the video. Awesome teaching and learning from you! 💡
This is such a good idea, letting healthcare professionals follow each other to get a sense of each other’s day/workload/what they do in general! That way we can be more considerate with each other e.g. when drs get annoyed if they get interrupted on a note when the pharmacist calls for an intervention, I can be like oh yeah it’s normal to be annoyed. So much of healthcare can be improved by learning about each other, so I’m so grateful that you let others see behind the curtain and what a day as a dr looks like ❤️ wishing you the best, just a pharmacist in training x
I love this channel! I think it is awesome that you have shadowed a lot of different occupations throughout the hospital! Everyone's job is difficult in their own way and it is important to remember that! If we did not have every piece of the puzzle, hospitals would not run!
Gosh u must be in a awesome program that allows u to follow like every dept, doctors, nurses and vice vice versa. That is so cool! You are 1 awesone lady!! Love your videos!!
Ive enjoyed these posts. My wife and I have a daughter and son inlaw who both are 2nd year residents. She in family, and he is internal. They are in the same large city but in different programs. You have added some great background that i can add to the brief phone calls we get at all hours as she is heading to or from work. Her life has been so busy. I like that you have shown some light hearted chance to enjoy everything while dealing with it all.. gives me hope she can also. Thanks for these posts.
This doctor seems soooo nice! I hope she takes the nurse’s advice and never loses her bedside manner AND her interactions with her colleagues! The way she is so open to what the nurses and other medical team members have to say is amazing. A lot of doctors don’t want to hear what us nurses have to say, or they treat us rudely or are short with us. So I really appreciate this in a doctor!!
This is such an amazing interaction. As a nurse, I feel like relationship between medical and nursing teams is never encouraged and it's not really something very important. It's really a shame, for most part, obviously there are exceptions but this makes me feel so happy because this is what it should always be like. Working as a team! Amazing video!
i don’t usually comment but i truly see you’re an amazing, independent and inspiring doctor. you’ve made me want to put my head down and work towards my dream job as a nurse:) i’m only 18, in my last year of secondary school, so starting september i’ll hopefully be in university working towards that dream all thanks to these videos constantly motivating me! love love love these day in the life of a doctor!
Hi Siobhan from Ireland, this was a great video showing how hard doctors and nurses work, you both made a great team and were so natural u, friendly and open plus like the nurse knew what needed to be done for the patient, in the past was in hospital 5 months, so seen it all, and learned a lot through the whole experience, from being in ICU and everywhere in between, its an education in itself.
It was really cool to see the allied health professionals get together to do discuss patient care. I’m in my undergrad year studying to become a pediatric occupational therapist. It’s so nice to get a small glimpse into the hospital setting as a OT since there’s not a lot of videos on TH-cam about it.
Thanks for your videos! I’m my sphere of friends/colleagues we tend to talk about the trials and tribulations of junior doctor life in a jaded cynical way (of course still wonderful and pleasant to our patients!)... it’s genuinely refreshing to watch you portray the difficulties, while being pleasant and happy. Makes me rethink how I’m passing on the cynicism to my fresh faced students, by seeing you react to the difficulties in a different way. - PGY 2 from Australia
IM NOT SURE WHO CAN SHADOW WHO NEXT BUT THESE VIDEOS ARE AMAZING! I’m a medical interpreter and these videos make me understand soooo much more about doctors and nurses and why they do the things they do! Made me appreciate them more!!! Thank you 😊
As an EMT I certainly appreciate the work you do in caring for an person requiring care. Your action reminds me of the film called The Doctor. Each nurse is a dynamic person caring for others.
Please always stay this positive, even though it might be rough over the years! ♥️I have been quite a few times to the hospital, and the kindest doctors are always the most memorable ones that help ease the pain you are in. I also love how you are building bridges between nurses and doctors - when I did an internship as a nurse in a hospital for paralyzed people, it happened so often that doctors or residents didn't even greet us when we walked past!
Your videos randomly popped up on my recommended and I absolutely LOVE your channel, your videos, and your essence! Absolutely positive and such neat videos that are so intriguing and full of information. Love videos that help others learn.❤️❤️❤️
The doctor and nurse are such nice, positive, and pleasant people, and work great as a team with the goal of helping patients, we need more doctors and nurses like this in healthcare
I love the team work and collaborative approach to medicine. I hope that hospitals adopt this style not just for teaching but afterwards. The teaching should always continue!
She is the most adorable doctor ever. You can tell her smile is genuine and I am sure it helps her patients knowing she really cares. Awsome video. Amazing channel.
its great when they give each other the opportunity to shadow each other, this way they understand what each of them do how hard each other work, with that comes great respect, being a nurse is not an easy job, and neither is being a Doctor, both jobs require a lot of sacrifice
I JUST came across your channel and absolutely love it. I have a chronic illness so seeing what actually goes on behind the scenes gives me such an appreciation and respect for what docs and their teams do. Your attitude and demeanor is so wonderful, you’re a pleasure to watch! Keep up your hard work! ❤️
Hello Dr. Siobhan, It is a nice meeting of you with doctors and nurses about hospital situation and how to take care of patients in the hospital. I like your nurse shadowing for 12 hours. My huge respect is for you Siobhan
Haiiii dear I'm a nurse by profession and I'm from India. Recently I watched your TH-cam channel and I like you soooooo sooo much... Medical professions means team work... I'm proud to be a nurse........
It's so exciting how medicine has evolved in the past 30 years I have been a nurse. Starting in med/surg and working in urgent care and emergency medicine, it changes so fast, so many new medications and technology. You have a great personality which seems to be well suited to your chosen field. I look forward to more videos.
I love how excited u got when she asked what a volume assessment is 🤭🤭 only my 2nd video in and I already adore u!! And ur hubby! I wish yall were my doctors lol u for ur service!! 💗💗
I've just recently found your channel and it's got me so excited to work in the field! I love what you're doing and you have such a bubbly charismatic personality. Keep doing what you're doing !
I think what happens, as with any job, people get jaded and over time may lose compassion or empathy as the years pass and excitement may fade.. I sure hope she never loses her awesome bedside manner, I’d be so happy to have her as my doctor!
It's great to see the teamwork between the doctors and nurses! Nurses are the back bones of hospitals, ashlee is very committed and i can see she enjoys her job even through the stressful times. I'm going in for surgery next month but know in very good hands. Your videos are very informative and gives me an idea what goes on behind closed doors between staff which we the patients don't see. You're a fantastic asset to them all Siobhan, keep up the great work! 🤗💉💊🏥👩🏻⚕️
Every doctor in training should watch how you go about your work and learn how to be professional, hardworking and dedicated yet kind, respectful and enthusiastic all at the same time. Keep up the great work!
Excellent video - it is magnificent and valuable to watch and follow you throughout a day and see the work behind the scenes, the work that patients normally will not see or know about a doctor working in a hospital.
Thank you for sharing ALL of your videos. The medical field is a stressful place to work from front desk to Doctors. Everyone plays a crucial role in patient care. Once again, thank you.
Great idea to encourage team work among staff! Many work environments can be encouraged through a shadowing like this. I'm a teacher and I believe a day in the life shadow could help us in our school.
I love these videos they’re really informative and really great when you’re a person who has medical issues and you have to end up in the hospital and I would love to see a nurses aide following a doctor around and or have a nurses aide showing a doctor around what they do
This was a silly waste of time! Doctors and nurses have completely different jobs - and nurses should stop trying to be doctors and get on with the work they are really needed for!
Theses videos are so informative as a patient I now know why it takes so long for doctors to get to us. U guys have so much to do. Thank you for all that u do.
Yes I experience just about the same couple of things at hospital I work at as housekeeping: - non stop line of requests from nurses, techs (for cleaning or portering (also them if they aren't there at the time)) - not stopping for water. I do that same thing, too caught up in the work to take a breather.
I’ve heard and experienced doctors’ attitude over years of work. This is due to work overload and numerous consults making some doctors testy and impatient. Never forget to have good bedside manners of compassion and empathy.
I'm a nurse and I loved this video! I love how open-minded are kind both of them are. So refreshing to see. It was great when the doctor enjoyed working as a team with the nurse who had shortness of breath! I wish all nurses got to shadow doctors and all doctors got to shadow nurses. I know as a nightshift med/surg nurse I would love to shadow one of the nightshift hospitalists for a day. We only have 2 hospitalists for the whole hospital at night and it'd be so interesting to see what they're doing all night long!
As a nurse I would love to do this. Interruptions in health care are CONSTANT. They don't/can't really teach us this in nursing! What type of nursing does Ashley do?
This was so interesting, thanka a ton! I kinda wish doctors and nurses could also shadow patients with chronic illnesses, to get an idea how daily life is like. I feel like both sides could profit, especially if there were an illness-suit, to put on like that suit you can put on where you experience how it feels to be an old person. I guess it's the walking a mile in someone else's shoes thing that really helps so much widen one's perspective.
Love these videos! Really is giving me a perspective of what the work life is in the hospital and how things work. I’ve always considered being a nurse and this really helped my decision!!!
I just found your channel ! and I’m so happy that you are Canadian as well. I would never be a doctor or a nurse since I faint at blood but it’s so interesting and relaxing how you say your day goes , thank you and everyone in your hospital for doing an amazing job .
Yes, I agree😊 don't lose bed side manner. I've had my share of experience when the physician walks in and out where their mind is preoccupied to just get through checking the patient's.
When Ashley said don't loose the bed side manor ... Most pt do not appreciate Doc's it seems endless time when they dont attend you because they are so busy!!!! maybe it puts their bed side manor off??? The medical professions are Angels on earth we couldn't be without them.... Total respect
I couldn't agree more with Ashley on her comments about what a great doctor-to-be you are as you show you care through your attitude and hard work. Ashley seems the exact same way, she's a nurse and you're a doctor?/doctor-to-be? because you care about helping people and happen to also enjoy biology and the science behind the human body so this field couldn't be more suited for you. Love the video.
i have watched so many of your videos and they are so interesting and informal. you do such a good job handling patients needs and being quick on your feet!
I LOVED this!!! Such a great idea! It'd be awesome if hospitals made this part of the training. And great job Ashley! You can tell just frm the video that you're one amazing n caring nurse! Thank you both for bringing such kindness and empathy to the medical field !! 💜💜
I am a second year veterinary internal medicine resident and I just love your videos! So interesting to compare and contrast (a lot of differences but a surprising number of similarities!) looking forward to more videos! :)
This was such an awesome idea and video!! I'm currently in nursing school and loved being able to see this side of things. It would be great to see a video on nurse practitioner roles and collaboration with physicians in the future!
I am currently a pre-intern in a third world country and even though we have a lot of good doctors, our resources blockage limits effective assesment for patient care. Just watching this video makes my heart warm, how every allied help professional get united to individualize every patient in order to optimize the treatment. What specially caught my attetion was the way you treat medical students as part of your team, it is sad that we serve as a rug accumulating bad energy from residents, and some don't even encourage us to participate or learn. We have the advantage of getting that doctor-patient relationship when we first enter pre-internship, sometimes we get the privilage to assist on the physical examination and interrogate them to collaborate on the medical history, obviously with the help and supervision of an attending physician, and the patient approval. Keep that welcoming smile while teaching, as a way of telling them, "It's okey. You don't need to feel pressured, you are just learning"; this makes a huge difference.
Is there any way you could possibly shadow the hospital social worker for a day? I'm in grad school for social work right now and might possibly have my field placement in a hospital next semester, so it would be very insightful to see what it's like.
I think every nurse and doctor should team up like this every once in a while. A lot of the time people get so caught up in their own point of view that they forget that other people might have different responsibilities than them. Pairing up like this is such a great way to build understanding and perspective. Totally agree, and with other staff think too! Often the value of allied health such as OT for example get forgotten.
I agree. I feel like there is gap between laboratory technologists and the rest of the hospital staff.
They usually have PA, which are doctors too. They pair up with other doctors 😂🤦♂️
Samuel Shin dying NOT dieing. Yep, you’re a troll!!
I agree. This would benefit the patient so much .
I was friends with Ashley in Highschool. She has always been a super sweet person. Glad she got into a profession that really suits her!
And she is a great communicator
As a retired RN w/ 40+ years, I totally 💯 LOVE that you appreciate nurses and integrate them in your decision making. MD’s and nurses are trained so very differently, it’s so good to see you interact w/ them! Thank you so much!🙏❤️
Thanks for watching! I’ve learned so much from nurses 🙏
That was so sweet she brought you water hahaha, definitely a nurse 😂
And the best was when she said "practice what you preach". :-)) I have both said this myself and had to listen to this myself.
Tttt6tt6t and we can always use them to make rueyej changes gdyye55ee5e7e
Ryeyeye and
lol true. I am a nurse about to be a speech pathologist. I am like this as well.
I cannot express how much I love this video! It's great for different medical workers to see what exactly goes on in each others days!
Dr. Cellini Hey Doc
I follow your channel
Good to see you comment here
@@Pathologymadesimple is scooby your real name ?
As a RN, I appreciate what you do! Not every MD treats nurses with respect or as team members which is sad because we have the same goal-providing the best pt care possible!

Really.
Same!
Same!
I literally don't have any interest in working in the medical field being a doctor etc. But I find her videos so intresting and addicting to watch! Its like coffee, YOU NEED IT! haha
Same here! It’s just great to get an insight into how medical staff acc operate.
Honestly same, medicine is just my side hobby , I’m an artistic person and I’m an architecture student 😄 but I just find these videos that Siobhan posts very interesting and entertaining 😊
Nurse Ashley is so beautiful she seems so kind hearted women😻😻😻 let her know she has fans
Varsha Scooby she seems like an amazing nurse. And she is gorgeous!
Marlene Ramirez She resembles Jennifer Morrison
Do you feel the same?
I thought the same thing. She’s so gorgeous!!
#Hairgoals
Yup can’t stop staring at her lol
I love how she brought you water. ❤️ She's a nurse at heart. Always thinking of others
I'm a nurse practitioner and I have been on both sides, providing care at the bedside as an RN and now providing coverage for the floor on nights and weekends as a hospitalist. There's so much value knowing what it's like to walk in the others shoes

It's great to see that your hospital seems to take a more holistic approach and has all therapies, social work, community support, spiritual care, etc! So important and often overlooked.
I have shadowed doctors a number of times. It profoundly changed how I relate to them.
I just love how you integrate the medical and nursing profession into your practice. You are an exceptional clinician.
I’ve watched your past 4 videos and I wish I had a Dr. as compassionate I’ve never seen a Dr. so caring.
A mini series on teaching nurses/what you wish nurses knew would be amazing xxx
It was really cool to see the allied health professionals get together to do discuss patient care. I’m in my undergrad year studying to become a pediatric occupational therapist. It’s so nice to get a small glimpse into the hospital setting as a OT since there’s not a lot of videos on TH-cam about it.
Love seeing nurse keep busy doctor hydrated. 💕 Nurses are the frontline. Great video.

As a female PreMed student, seeing the allied health team being all women is such a heart warmer. woaw!
Please always stay this positive, even though it might be rough over the years! ♥️I have been quite a few times to the hospital, and the kindest doctors are always the most memorable ones that help ease the pain you are in. Dr. Violin is so special. She is extremely nice and caring. Wish more doctors were like that.
Ashley seems like the kindest nurse, I wish both of you the best!
Your videos randomly popped up on my recommended and I absolutely LOVE your channel, your videos, and your essence! Absolutely positive and such neat videos that are so intriguing and full of information. Love videos that help others learn.❤️❤️❤️
Love how there is comradeship with the doctors and nurses. At my old job the doctors belittled the nurses and there was constant drama
Who else uses these videos to get motivation to study 😅😅
Sila Coban YES. 😂

I think what happens, as with any job, people get jaded and over time may lose compassion or empathy as the years pass and excitement may fade.. I sure hope she never loses her awesome bedside manner, I’d be so happy to have her as my doctor!
The fact that you are able to hold the position of being a doctor with so many hours of work, while making weekly TH-cam videos is incredible!
Don't forget all the studying she's doing at home. That's usually why a video is "late"

Luv this .. especially as an experienced nurse going to med school soon
NNEKA A. What made you want to switch from nursing to med school? I’ve thought about it too!
Love the videos of 'seeing on the other side' so important I think!

I Love how you always remain so positive ! Very lucky hospital to have you
Love these videos! Really is giving me a perspective of what the work life is in the hospital and how things work. I’ve always considered being a nurse and this really helped my decision!!!
I absolutely love your videos. Your wonderful personality shines through in every video.
I just found your channel ! and I’m so happy that you are Canadian as well. I would never be a doctor or a nurse since I faint at blood but it’s so interesting and relaxing how you say your day goes , thank you and everyone in your hospital for doing an amazing job .
Great advice Ashley. As a speechie Student I agree.
doctors like you make me strive to be a better doctor, I love your videos!
She is such a kind-hearted person!❤️ I bet she is amazing to her patients!
It's official, of all the videos from different youtubers that I needed to catch up on... I immediately pressed this. You are now my favourite !
I am a Male nurse in learning and thank you for your Videos you are such a sunshine. Greetings from Germany
I just found your channel yesterday and am in LOVE! I never knew most of the things you go through! Definitely an amazing person!
i have watched so many of your videos and they are so interesting and informal. you do such a good job handling patients needs and being quick on your feet!
watching your videos have given me some zeal back in nursing.
This was such an awesome idea and video!! I'm currently in nursing school and loved being able to see this side of things. It would be great to see a video on nurse practitioner roles and collaboration with physicians in the future!
Ashley is great and has great communication skills
This is awesome! I’m a RN myself and you are one of the nicest physician 👩⚕️ my son wants to be a doctor so this is great! Thank you for sharing.
