    The only issue I have with this channel is the once a week post lol. Need more. They said my ph was 4.7 😳 so I'm adjusting slowly to not hurt my current grass. Thanks for the info Turf 👍

    @Turf Truth Does application of citric acid result in a reduction in soil pH? I "heard" it results in a short term pH reduction that could work along with other soil acidification treatments. Not sure if that is true or not.

    • @TurfTruth
      @TurfTruth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is quite a bit to unpack here than some may think. So we will simply preface our answer by stating you should not attempt to adjust soil pH unless you have a good reason. That being said, citric acid would not be our first choice. CA is a relatively weak acid and breaks down rapidly in most soils. UMass has a short info sheet found here:
      ag.umass.edu/greenhouse-floriculture/fact-sheets/adjusting-alkalinity-with-acids
      You could use CA and you may measure a soil pH reduction, but CA would be expensive compared to other options. In a practical sense, all man-made soil pH changes are temporary. So, yes any pH reduction from CA would be short term, but this is true for other products as well.
      Don't chase numbers. 🎢

    Excellent Content! This is what I am here for, to learn the soil chemistries and how everything interacts with cations and anions. If we don't have a basic understanding of factual science then 99% of the BS slung around the Tubes is completely useless. Always keep learning people, don't become Sheeple!

    The most informative video so far! Hoping future vids will follow the same theme of providing solid information. The section about how elemental sulfur should be applied is exactly how I read it in published university papers. Good job!

    What you show about the ideal range between 6:00 and 7:00 there's exactly what The people I follow have said. So if somebody else said something different I would assume that they are not correct. Again that means you're correct according to the people I follow. However again I don't know. I barely know how to take a pH test. I wish you would come out from behind your cartoon. Thank you

    People wake up & do a little research yourself about a certain product if you look hard enough usually you will find the information your looking for , unfortunately these guys on youtube purposely went out and manipulated the entire lawn care DIY community these people know who they are & we know who they are & they need to separate themselves from the Manipulators only purpose is ripping off the people who subscribe to their youtube channel’s here’s a good starting point on youtube “Grass factor “

    Thank you for the time and effort you put into creating these videos. Definitely, a good resource to have! By chance do you recommend any online turf programs? I'm a Purdue grad and have looked into their programs, along with Penn State and Georgia. After my wife finishes her master's degree I may consider doing an online program!

    not afraid to admit I learned I was mistaken.. always assumed it was the sulfate part of the soil amendment that drove the pH down (assuming sulfate broke down into sulfuric acid)... fascinating to know the "ate" is no longer soluble.

    So I’m noticing I’m doing the right thing. Add elements necessary as indicated by UGA’s soil test (they have no financial incentive for me to add anything). And ignore the “in depth expert analysis” by the Utube gurus. It seems pretty basic to me.
