@@RyanMillen Oh that's crazy. Thanks for making these vids though Ryan. It's such a cool vantage point for all of us that will never be able to ride in one of these!
At the end of the race they should interview the starter. Starter: it was a heck of a race. The engine was having a family quarrel with the fuel pump So I had to take over and drive the truck, but I managed because I’m awesome 😎
Other than the great race footage, I'll never forget seeing how stoked those amigos were stoked when you gave them your hood; Toyota logo and all (36-10). That Baja race moment is a lifetime classic. Nice.
Lmao these comments are hilarious people thinking he doesnt know how to drive a stick lmao its a automatic with a manual valve body or to keep the rpms high lmao it was fuel pump issues people, come on people dont be dumb
Im so glad i stuck around !!! Thats the awesomest thing ive seen ina long time. Givin ur hood away !!!! We dont get quite the fan base you guys do but u have to support the fans back !!!!!
Following a Baja1000 I was turning south along the race track near Sta Maria Wash the following morining and came across a Japanese guy on a bike who was lost and asked "where's the road"(we assumed he meant the race course). We said, dude youre on it, just keep going and youre good. He said, "no, the highway to town" (San Felipe). Holy shit that dude had been out in the desert for a long time! We guided him back to the highway and he fired up and went north. Who knows what happened with that guy.
Hi! I just stumbled upon this video and it was super fun to watch! Quick question, was it the firing order that was wrong or was the fuel pump not co-operating? And what place did you finish overall? I'm just curious, I'm 13 years old and super interested in trophy trucks!
We installed a new and different fuel pump that pulled more amps than the previous one. The PDM saw the higher amps and switched to the second pump which had not been installed. We stopped and wired pump 1 to pump 2 which was set at a higher amperage. The truck is fuel injected.
Well Ryan, nice driving again. 2 years ago so alot of growth has happened. As a veteran of both seats, your co-driver means well but needs to drop the drama when the situation goes shitty. Some analytical deduction and problem solving would have saved good time allowed you to stop in a place to get chase assist easily. Oh well, that is life.
As far as i know yellow triangle is alerting the trucks behind that you have a problem, the red one and the beep means there is someone with a problem nearby and the solid blue means that you are slower than the truck behind so you need to speed up or let them pass.
SiegeTeamSix - That was the 1st or second year SCORE required those newer alert systems. They are a SATCOM Safety Alert System. They are pre-programmed with mandatory speed limit areas approaching (flashes solid yellow, then with a flashing yellow speed limit number, then turns a solid color upon entering the speed zone, numbers turns red if you are over speed, caution areas (shown as all solid yellow LED). Push the alert button and hold for 3 seconds, it activates the race alert - race vehicle stopped on course, sends a signal to SCORE to alert them your vehicle is stopped on the course, with a GPS coordinate. The flashing yellow alert triangle signifies, stopped, no injuries (non-emergency), operator initiated red triangle is accident emergency with injuries, blue is no-injury, stopped on the course, but unable to continue, out of the race. Solid green LEDs is clear of caution zone... pin the happy pedal! They also have an automatic activation, if we wreck, roll over, or whatever, and don’t acknowledge the red triangle beacon, it will stay on and alert SCORE of an accident, no operator input to the alert system... that one gets the helicopters flying your way. The alert beep is from the trucks electronic engine management system, one of the many systems it’s programmed to monitor such as oil pressure to low (usually sounds on power up before starting the engine), power on ready to start. There is a sequence in starting the trucks. Master power on, engine & aux electronics on, fuel pump on start button, watch for positive oil pressure. Not starting the truck in sequence can cause damage... Pistol Pete’s (RIP) “rent a race” trucks had a bright warning sign on the switch panel that read “You are responsible for all engine damages if you fail to start the engine in the right sequence”. There was a reason for that sign...
Hey Ryan, how difficult is it to get sponsors to build and race these? it's been a life long dream of mine, i make courses out in the hills and out in the country and run it with my pickup all the time lol kinda pathetic i know but my business had fallen through, works been tearing me down, life doesn't go on forever and i'd love to be able to chase those dreams ya know. Everything's been a downhill spiral these past few years and im losing hope

i want that starter in my build . reliable as hell

That starter did more driving then the engine lmao
Now thats funny
hybrid race truck :)
I was thinking the same shit lol
Fuel pump did Jack shit
Yeah, why the hell did it keep dying?
This is like me back in the day trying to get my RC nitro engine started 😂
PhyeNTheSky I have the same problem with my Nitro car I did not properly break in the motor so it would run until I hit the gas and then shut off
@@jeffmiller2295 that's the importance to do a good break in!! 😊💪
😂😂
The amount of people involved, hours spent training and working on the truck and a damn fuel pump... I cant imagine the frustration.
it was even the pumps fault. A new pump had been installed that pulled more amps than the last so the pdm was shutting it off...

It takes a team to keep that Toyota running - some serious thanks for the great video!
God that motor sounds so good
When its running
I drive around in my kia blasting this video through the speakers, I think my car runs better with some encouragement😂😂

A bit of a slow start, I noticed the fuel starvation however you made an excellent recovery via BALLS-OUT driving! I liked that.
The fuel pump they were using drew more amps then their previous so it kept shutting down
@@ryze6726 I see..that was frustrating

Is it traditional in Baja 1000 for spectators to run off with a part of stranded vehicles after taking a selfi?
Briareos depends. We gave them the hood.

man hope theres more footage that was fun to watch! bummer you had all the problems!
I just realized how many computers their are in trophy trucks

As far as i know yellow triangle is alerting the trucks behind that you have a problem, the red one and the beep means there is someone with a problem nearby and the solid blue means that you are slower than the truck behind so you need to speed up or let them pass.

My non-professional thinking was, if the thing was dying that bad in the 1st mile why not pull over and get your crew to solve the problem there? 🤔
Cuz their crew was probably already heading to or at the next pitstop location.
Ya no kidding!!
Remember it kicked back on and ran good for a while

Fuel issues and hood pins popping out. Smh can't be troubleshooting on race day
Is the triangle still on? What? Is the triangle still on? What? Is this on? Uh yeah.
Pretty sure your flux capacitor is bad.
It's not at set at 1.21 gigawatts or it would work
Probabaly would have been wise to pull over as soon as they knew there was a problem... maybe a mechanic could have fixed it.
Tyler Padgett should have the ability to change that pump in no time flat. If not make it so they can. Pull over pull it replace and keep trucking!
