- We all know our Science sidekick doesn't battle, though she once took part in the gym challenge. With this in mind and clues to her team, could we build a team and beat Leon as Sonia in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Alder would be an awesome playthrough to see, probably one of the most forgotten champions but I always thought he was interesting and having Volcorona as his ace is so unique.

Sonia and Leon were rivals during their gym challenge. They probably started out together and picked starters from the 3. How did Leon get charmander? It's definitely his favorite so most likely it's the starter he chose. So in my head I would think that naturally Sonia would also have gotten one of the trio as well. Wether she got bulbasaur or squirtle I can't say but I could definitely see her with a blastoise or venasuar. Yamper seems more like a pet imo and since she's comfortable in wild areas she obviously has an actual team of pokemon. She just doesn't battle very often so we never see them. That's my headcanon but I obviously don't know for sure. I liked her a lot as a character.
It's definitely what this challenge is all about! I wanted to really be creative with this one so thankyou for your thoughts 😁

I'd love to see a playthrough as either Alder, Iris, or Cyrus [would be kinda hard since Houndoom isn't in SwSh].
I feel like an Espeon would’ve suited Sonia more than a Glaceon
Funny thing, you spin me round is by the band: Dead or Alive and they are from England. I like to think whoever designed the stow-on-side gym challenge heard this on the radio when they found out they were in charge of the gym puzzle and had an evil smile.
this deserves more veiws anyway if had to make a team for sonia it would be, hatterene crobat metagross/stonjouner boltound tsareena inteleon/venasaur
I believe both venasaur and inteleon make sense considering leon has both a kanto and galarian starter the other picks are for a pretty obv pick considering we see she likes the pokemon or has hanged around those pokemon if I had to replace one it probably be inteleon with boltoud

I like that in Opal’s gym there’s a book that says Leon’s battling is very impressive but he’s “Hard To Read” (I think that was what it said(Also I think his score was 0)) and Sonia was good with……well not battling (Score was 3 I believe)

Before I watch this video, how do you intend do do this? Sonia has 1 pokemon. 1! Yamper! You can't make up a team and say it's sonias for a challenge! Sonia always beat Leon even with a type disadvantage according to manga which is source material. The only pokemon we know of is yamper, and Sonia gives up easily despite her intelligence. You can't do a yamper solo run and call it Sonia. But you also can't make up a team and say it's hers! And that Beldum wasn't Sonias so I better not see that!
Also Sonia has tsareena is masters not journeys.

What a coincidence, I always call all of my eevee's Cookie. Eevee is my favorite pokémon and Sylveon is always my ace. (If Sylveon is not available I use Gladeon and if Gladeon is not available I use Veporeon or any other eeveelution)

I think you made a very solid team solid team for Sonia. If I had to make one, I’d probably choose the same set with two major differences. If it sounds like I’m criticizing your team, I am not, but I apologize for wording it as if I am. I am just trying to explain the changes I would make if I played through this challenge myself and why the changes occurred.
1. I wouldn’t have Bulbasaur on the team. Mainly because I genuinely don’t see Sonia using a Kanto starter. I do believe she’d choose Sobble first and THAT would be her ace. As for how Leon could overpower her enough to make her quit when he started with the fiery Kanto starter, that’s easy. I’m willing to bet that early on in their journey, Sonia was actually the more prominent trainer due to her starter having the type advantage. And because of that, Leon learned very early on that if he wanted to be the very best like no one ever was, he’d have to teach his Charmander moves to cover its weaknesses and in turn taught it moves like Thunder Punch early on. Because of that, it wasn’t long before HE was the one dominating Sonia in every battle even with the type disadvantage and Sonia trying and unfortunately failing to keep up, and that’s what led to her dropping out. So Sobble would be her only starter imo.
2. You said in your video that Sonia wouldn’t have a dragon type pseudo-legendary on her team because of her love of research. I disagree on that front as well. There’s one dragon type that I think Sonia would be more than happy to have for herself: Salamence. And I know what you’re thinking: “Why in the world would Sonia ever have something like a Salamance? That doesn’t fit her at all!” Well, I think she’d have a Salamence because it wouldn’t be a regular Salamence. It’d be a SHINY Salamence. Due to its color scheme being practically identical to hers, I think Sonia would actually find a Shiny Salamence cute rather than ferocious and would happily use it on her team.
So my final team for her would be GMax Inteleon, Stonjourner, Hatterene, Boltund, Shiny Tsareena, and Shiny Salamence.
I absolutely love this idea and theme plus it’s (as far as I know) the first one.
Hence why I did it 😁😁
This was fun. I just wish young Sonia had ginger hair, but maybe she dyed it when she was older haha

9:10 Im pretty sure those are just makeup bottles. They’re on top of her nail polish and are one color with no extra features. May just be a special nail set made to look like the Hat line for marketing

For flavor reasons I probably would've gone Eviolite Yamper over Boltund. The Beldum is kinda just chilling in that house so not sure that is a good call, but I understand the desire to have a higher stat mon for the run.
Yamper and Tsareena are the only 2 that I really feel are slam dunks. Same with Venusaur due to the type disadvantage mentioned. The other 3 are pretty subjective.

I’m just beginning to watch the video and I’m just wondering how are you going to do a Sonia run with Sonia being in the game lol is it gonna be like a going into the future type of playthrough? I’m excited to see the rest of the video.
The team I would build for Sonia would be Bolthund obviously, shiny Tsareena since she has one in Masters, Corviknight because she has a Rookidee in the anime, Hatterene and Crobat because of the memorabilia in her room, and Gigantamax Blastoise because if she were to beat Leon she would need the type advantage against his Charizard.

Does Sonia even evolve her yamper?... dont think this would be very canon. Ive never seen it evolved
In canon, Sonia's yamper isn't for battles, it's more as a pet so Boltund would be her battle dog ☺️

Let me explain, the reason you cant charmander from the dojo is because leon already picked it, so if you sonia picked a kanto starter you would only be able to choose one if you were not sonia. So yeah sonia doesnt have a venasuar. But hey, its just a theory, GAME THEORY
