Sounds like most of those notes were taken away from the snares and "redistributed" to the bassline & tenors. Either way, stellar drum corps, fantastic show, and the drumline had plenty of highlights when all said and done.
I saw them at Tulsa Oklahoma. We were staying at the same school. I got to see them and record it was awesome. I love the snare groove when the quads were playing the cowbell.
I wish this guy would have shown Bill Bachman a little more love in the prelims video. I was standing just to Bill's right. I even have a picture of the line with the back of Bill's head closest to the camera. What a great night. BD had an amazing warm up and then we ran over to check out Cadets warmup once we heard them playing show excerpts. Went into the show on finals night.
Check out the angle on the left hand of my guy 3 in from the right side. That looks hella uncomfortable but that's what you gotta do when your drum is that high
Had nothing to do with the drum being high and had to do with his background training not using a proper grip, traditional grip. DCI room drumming forever they water down everything they use very few rudiments today not like old school using more rudiments gives you more exposure to era that's why they stopped using most of the ruinous I believe today they're only using approximately five or six and I never see Swiss movements all the drum lines today DCI ndca use more visuals juggling head bopping juggling and dancing rather than real drumming. There are no longer Real Drum and bugle course today they are marching bands nothing wrong with a marching band except it is not a real drum and bugle Corps. Former member of the Floyd Bennett golden eagles out of Brooklyn New York as well as the Long Island sunrises. @@americanspirit8932 How do you think about Scott Johnson? He is old guy that marched Devs in 1976~1979 and the old guy who is leading Drumline nowadays.
@Micah the Nerd Saxophonist incredible. Thank you for the wonderful in-depth answer. Any hope to see the smaller local corps return in the future? I'm very interested in learning more about how to get an organization like this started and sustained.
Ray Scott, center snare, had the most powerful hands I’ve e ever heard. So consistent. Just a great human, drummer, Marine, and friend.
I have recordings of this line throughout the season and this has to be the most watered snare book ever. They took so many notes out of it.
post them!
@@somericanguy They're on cassette. I don't have a tape player anymore. Plus there are other videos on youtube of them from earlier in the season.

Ya it’s soo watered and basic now
So watered down it won drums on finals night, right?

Quads have so much sound quality the tech can't keep 'em tuned!

They carry the snares so high.
I though I was the only one who thought that😂 that must burn their wrists so bad
Semis actually (8/19/94 Friday)

@@americanspirit8932 what happened to all the little local drum and bugle corps that used to exist?
What would it take to start a new one?

that guy was the Cadet's snare tech from 99-2004. Eric Ward. Great teacher

Oh my gosh thank god they don’t make people play with those high snares for the uniform height anymore lmao
The quad line is jammin
What's up with drummers and this Turtle posture? Like that can't be good for your neck and back
You are guaranteed to drum at least 4% cleaner when adopting the "Mr. Burns" posture (it's science)
@@DrumlineArchives true and real. The slingblade haircut was just an added bonus.
Tom Rarick on snare?
Yes
