you can also see that from a country/state/municipality viewpoint: have they never heard of recycling? In my country, they don't even pickup bulk waste from the streets anymore. You have to bring it to a recycling center yourself. There they have seperate containers for all kind of materials. Besides that, when they still did the curbside pickups, electronics and metals were always picked up seperate. Smaller waste is also seperated in most municipalities, but some will pick it all up as general waste, and then seperate it at sorting centers.
Geez, these guys are really bustin' it; can't believe the amount of stuff getting tossed. Have seen large dumps w/grapples which would save these guts major back aches:(
