    I love how at the dinner, Kaveh was like 'who knows what Alhaitham's up to' and then in their conversation at the end, he says it's obvious Alhaitham went on to investigate Sachin.
    These two know and understand each other so much better than what is shown to us. I hope people take the time to read Kaveh's stories when they reach different friendship levels, and dont judge the bond between them just from the interactions we see. There's so much more to them than the constant bickering.

    • @whistlegirl5726
      @whistlegirl5726 ปีที่แล้ว +104

      And even before that, in their house, Kaveh lists a bunch of little things about Alhaitham (what he's like when studying documents, how he only leaves the papers around when he's fine with others reading it, etc.), and then goes "ah, but who knows what's going on in his head". You, Kaveh. You know.

    • @EnderHeart5911
      @EnderHeart5911 ปีที่แล้ว +78

      It’s clear to me that, in spite of their bickering, they truly care about each other and are ultimately good for each other (whether you view them as just friends or not). The final conversation proves this to me, as Kaveh reacts in a far more negative way to the same information being told to him by us than he does when Alhaitham is the one to tell him.

    • @aoitakumi9081
      @aoitakumi9081 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      This is true, many thinks Alhaitham was being rude to Kaveh but its his personality and its also the only way to get something inside Kaveh's head and his stubborn ideals. I often see my older sister and brother on them. My older sister being Alhaitham, the oldest, logical and very frank person who will not sugarcoat anything and my older brother that similar to Kaveh has a lot of self issues funnily enough is an architect while my older sister is a Teacher. They would often bicker and my sister would often critique my brother's poor life choices then proceeds to help him in her own way.

      @@aoitakumi9081 The funny thing is, I often have anxiety over what people around my age, but a little younger think. (My friends and a sibling) I never set my goals too high, and it kinda makes them frustrated. I've never really had that problem with my parents, but that's only because they were the first to know I'm stubborn about not wanting to do much with what I'm good at. We're not that similar to them, but it feels nice for me to see a character like Kaveh and I think of my brother when I see Al Haithem.

    2:57:35 If you do the Dori quest, you can still have Alhaitham tell him by choosing not to tell Kaveh. The difference is, you get a dialogue with Kaveh where he tells you what happened with his father in his perspective, giving you more insight about his guilt.
    I honestly agree that having Alhaitham tell him is the better option, seeing as they know each other better and if you compare Kaveh's disposition if you choose to tell him vs if Alhaitham tells him, he just seems more depressed if you tell him. With Alhaitham, he seems more positive. You could say that despite their bickering, Alhaitham knows how to get him out of a depressive spiral (possibly by teasing him). On top of that, despite Alhaitham making it a point to not do anything beyond the scope of his work, he still went out of his way to seek this one out to help settle Kaveh's years-long guilt about his father's death. He does care, as a friend or otherwise. 🥺🥺

      @@TheGoldenAlchemist86 yeah my exact thoughts when I reached those two options was "he deserves closure. It would be wrong to keep it a secret."
      Though I guess in true Kaveh fashion, even if I did know I probably wouldn't have changed my decision. Because the guilt of keeping it from him and putting that responsibility on someone else (Alhaitham) would be in the back of my mind. And I always pick the option I would in real life. If the option was phrased differently, like "(Alhaitham would be better able to break the news to Kaveh...)" I probably would have picked it since it specifically recognizes his ability to reduce the impact it has on Kaveh's mood.

    I feel like most people are heavily misunderstanding Alhaitham's personality and how he treats Kaveh, and well, how Kaveh treats him.
    The two of them are having a hard time with expressing their affection and friendship after the massive argument that made them drift apart.
    But the fact is that Alhaitham still lets him live at his place now that he is struggling and, despite being a stubborn ass about it, he always does what Kaveh asks him to and more. While Kaveh also always takes Alhaitham into consideration.
    (This part is shown very well when Alhaitham is the one who talks to Kaveh about Sachin and his father. And on Kaveh's end when he buys extra food to take home for Alhaitham)

    @tyronetalam8488 ปีที่แล้ว +161

    I think my absolute favorite part of this event was how it showcased Kaveh's vulnerability and snippets of his his relationship with Alhaitham. The nature of kaveh and alhaitham's relationship is complicated and nuanced there's a reason it's popular among shippers (actually even if you're not a shipper it's still pretty fascinating to analyze) and this event showcased that really well. The fall out they had is what caused them to be this heated towards each other, but they were best friends once and the lingering connection they had is still there. On the surface they seem really incompatible but they complete each other in a very chaotic way. Alhaitham's actually needed to keep Kaveh steady. At the end of the quest, if you choose the option to tell Kaveh about his father you leave him wallowing in depression, but if Alhaitham's the one who does it, his approach prevents Kaveh from spiraling too much. He' s constantly teetering between being ok and being depressed, and ironically Alhaitham riling Kaveh up is what stops him from doing so (is that healthy, not really admittedly, but i think that's the point, they're really rough around the edges but they both try)
    There's signs Alhaitham cares for Kaveh to a degree: he goes out of his way to dig information on Kaveh's father when he normally wouldn't bother doing this kind of thing unless it was part of his job or it benefitted him; he trusts important documents to be scattered around and lets kaveh look at them; he leaves information for kaveh in a different language they both understand; he visibly reacts when Faruzan mentions kaveh had to deal with shit in the desert. What paimon says at 1:49:40 is actually what Alhaitham told Kaveh too, just worded less harshly. There's more in Kaveh's stories that hint that Alhaitham cares and is just looking out for him in his very alhaitham-y way

      In sumeru we met the characters individually, and truly got to bond with them and let them do their part

    • @mandyred1
      @mandyred1 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Agree. Its definitely the way they were introduced to them, like we had individual interactions with each one of them and we got to know them through this BUT we also got to see them interact with each other a LOT, which makes us see sides of them that we wouldn't know otherwise. Like how alhaitham is super stoic during all the AQs (with some unintentional jokes here and there) but with Kaveh the man turns to a menace, or how cyno is super serious and all bussiness but when he is with tighnari and more comfortable with us he loves saying his dad jokes.
      Like all of them were given a certain depth that just made them feel more humanistic in some way.
      Also there's the fact that even the last released character from sumeru (kaveh) was introduced to us way back in 3.2 so we had a way to familiarize ourself with him. Compared to inazuma were the last characters were just mentioned on notice boards and voicelines, it makes them more forgettable in my opinion.

    Kaveh's really interesting because on one hand he's a kind -hearted idealist who sees the world through a softer lense than most. He's extremely likeable and relatable to some but that's also where I derive some issue with him.
    A lot of the time I noticed that Kaveh unintentionally creates issues for himself and then complains about the poor state of his position incessantly while doing so. Alhaitham's an asshole sure but even when he gives reasonable advice or observations Kaveh seems to reject him on the principal that it came from Alhaitham (can't blame him too much though since again Alhaitham's an asshole)
    He laments about his debt from building Dori's palace when HE was the one who insisted on finishing it, despite the protest of Dori herself, by taking out a loan and liquidating some of his assets when HE was the one who unknowing built it over a withering zone.
    He complained about the foxes following him around and even took a snappy tone with them to explain he didn't have any more food or water to give them.
    He constantly is creating misery after misery and then complains about it but that's WHY I can relate to him so much.
    Alot of us will make choices or do things that lead to situations down the line where we can't help but want to lament and curse the universe for giving us a shit hand when it was us who played our cards wrong. It's so easy to blame everything on everyone or everything else and be blind to the situations we made for ourselves that even when we were the ones that shot our own foot we blame gravity for bringing our aim lower.
    Is Kaveh completely responsible for his misery? Or course not, if Dori really wanted to she could've put her foot down and helped Kaveh make a responsible decision, Alhaitham could be less snarky and take a kinder tone with Kaveh, and the foxes are foxes so they get a pass.
    Kaveh is one of my favorite characters because he perfectly embodies the kind of person that complains about their life constantly but is still willing to put everything forward for others and even though they can be a pain to be around you still find yourself drawn to them because you know it's never coming from a place of malice.

    Incredibly thoughtful quest that delves into some of the darkest things philosophically about humanity. Because we are free, there will always be suffering, because some people choose to inflict suffering. That shows their freedom and 'humanity'. It's easy to say that companies and billionaires should donate their all towards noble causes like hunger, peace, and nature-preservation, but as humans we are naturally selfish once we find ourselves in moments of abundance. Kaveh said so himself before Act 3, that he could pay his debts, buy a house (as lavish or more than the Palace), etc. His immediate thoughts were to how he could benefit from it, and quite beyond sufficiency. So, the test was to see whether he would be selfish, or if he could stand to his principles. He may be in debt, but he is in far more comfortable of a situation compared to others. That is why he decides to give the money to those who truly need it, and it becomes a statement that just as there are people that will choose selfishly and violently, there are those that choose to be selfless and peaceful.

    the money question is an interesting one, I think its about similar value to yen.
    normal foods cost between 200-2000 mora in the game, at least the more basic ones.
    Though different things cost vastly different prices so there is a bit of "teyvat has its own rules"
    but even then, we can kinda guess. Childe gave us "a huge bag of mora" which was 50k mora, and that was enough to buy almost everything we needed.
    apart from the very expensive incense at 3 million mora. One of the most expensive things in the game. we see a few other price tags at a similar, level 2 million mora to get into inazuma, which then ends up being a scam, and changed to 600 mora as a processing fee. I think the highest price we saw in the game was around 5-10 million mora, but I dont quite remember where it was.
    Anyway, if we do take it as similar to yen, then 1 million mora would be about: $7'500. which is not unheard off for very rare cards. So I think it tracks roughly. It would also track with "being more then enough to pay for this months bills" we dont know exactly how much he pays, but I assume its probably on the pricy side to live in a big city, and also pay off his dept. Like if half it goes to his dept, and half to his bills, and then a bit is left over for the afterparty food and some spare change for later, I think it works out pretty well.
    This was a really great event, and so glad we got to see a lot of characters, and the tournament was actually fun, with an actual winner, instead of making it some 6 way tie.

    1:05:55 there’s actually a reason for animals in hotter areas having bigger body appendages (I’m not sure if that’s really what they’re called in english) and it’s because the bigger the surface area of the body is in relation to the body volume, the more heat it can give off, helping the body to cool down. similarly, animals in colder areas will have shorter body appendages and a bigger body volume to preserve heat. it’s called the allan’s rule. sorry if the explanation is lacking, english is not my first language.

    This event was amazing, and it made me realize that these alhaitham and kaveh literally cannot be seperated, one will always exist with the other, when there's kaveh, there will literally never be a time where he doesn't talk about alhaitham, and in alhaitham story quest, there was also kaveh at the end. Funny thing is that alhaitham is better at hiding it than kaveh, but at the archon quest, alhaitham also has said "i seem to have taken both keys when i left the house" which was foreshadowing kaveh in it. Actually now that i think of it, there are way too many things that are about kavetham that I can't even list them all, but anyways, this whole event about kaveh just proves that this was like his very own story quest lmao🎉🎉

    I actually highly disagree. Through that quest we firsthand learn exactly what happened to the Diadem 20 years ago, get more context on Sachin and how his tampering with the Diadem affected the previous Champions, and the honestly heartbreaking story of what exactly happened to Kaveh's father, a certain truth that Kaveh never learns unless WE tell him. Alhaitham gives him part of the story, but only by completing that questline do we have the opportunity to give Kaveh the full truth, as well as his father's wishes.
    If you can, I do recommend finding a video of the questline and seeing the full story there. I don't know if the quest is available after completing the main event story.

    • @oujisama05
      @oujisama05 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Honestly, I agree that Alhaitham telling it to Kaveh is the better option, comparing how Kaveh's outlook after Alhaitham tells him vs us telling him was more positive. However, I was a bit disappointed he missed all the other parts of the backstory w Kaveh's dad. But at the same time, I can feel how a lot of CCs at this time have grown weary and generally have less patience for exposition. It's even more unfortunate since I think the devs made the dori quest optional precisely so that the people who couldn't care less could skip it, which is fair. But it's sad to see it skipped especially when we've been so noisy about the "why are the character back stories/developments in limited events" issue.

      @@oujisama05 I can understand that. I’m also just one of those players that seeks out as much dialogue and out-of-the-way quests and lore as possible because I enjoy finding and reading it, so perhaps my opinion is somewhat biased (let’s just say I got the Friends The World Over achievement veeery quickly lol). I can understand with CCs and needing to streamline stuff for entertainment, it’s just the way he said it bugged me. It came off as “This version of events is better because it’s an interaction with Alhaitham and Kaveh and fully voiced between them” after the people in chat said “If you had done the quest it would be Traveler telling him this instead”, a statement glosses over just how much we actually learn in that quest and the fact that we tell Kaveh more than Alhaitham does. I just feel bad that he didn’t get to experience it because he’s clearly a fan of Kaveh and I feel like he would have appreciated the story and the decision to tell Kaveh the full truth.

    I might get pooped on for this.. but I absolutely had faith in Wanderer, mainly since how distant he was.. it just made me pity him even more..

      It made me sad that he still thinks of himself as a prisoner and a slave for Hahida. He doesn't understand good things at all. His birthday letter had the same energy. She is a brilliant therapist, though, i believe in her.
