love how the album is dedicated to les paul and he's using a strat
eleven years later, your comment made me burst a good laugh
he does use a Les Paul on How High the Moon
Jeff played Sleepwalk with a pick at that Les Paul party. And not with the heavy distortion. But thanks for the tip on using the vibrato bar for the scoops on the intro. I was sliding them.
A perfect performance of a Jeff Beck classic!! Well done!
Aledort, thank you very much. Extremely well taught. A real master.
There is only one Jeff Beck and this instructor is proving it
Beautiful interpretation !
thanks for teaching me this wonderful tune eddy
this is one song that i have seen so many different ways of playing it. more than anything else i know.
This is a terrific lesson! thanks guys!
Loved it!!!
First guitarworld's guitar lesson where they show an entire song played! :D
It’s a good effort but tone wise, subtlety and control beck has on the whammy is another level.
No shit, man. Or this guy would be next to Jeff....
Good job , been working on this , I have played it for years never like much how I played it so relearning it
I think Aledort is an excellent teacher. He's always thorough and precise. I don't understand why people on here seem compelled to disrespect him! So who the hell cares if he's blasted or not?!! He still does a great job. So to all you 'perfect' humans out there: KEEP YOUR STUPID OPINIONS TO YOUR SELVES!
Amazing lesson
Wow! Real nice. Clearly you’ve studied the Maistro for a long time.
wonderful picking keep up the good work
The perfect lesson for Andy
Nice Jazz tone
Guitar World Magazine another top notch DVD lesson
Awesome song. Cool lesson. Where is the rest?
THANK YOU!
wonderful
That is beatiful brother. So sweet.
lovely
thank you
pretty rad good sir
hi, im andy aledort and in this video lesson ill be teaching you how to play the immortal classic "sleep walk" while blasted
Mike Hunt He was in Dickie Betts’ band. I’d say that was a drinkin band for sure.
He ain't driving he's jamming.
Nice !
@zbarneyz There are Les Pauls that have trems on them.
Nice for me.. Cool, more vids!
RICHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Those are string locks - so that the guitar doesn't go out of tune quite as easily as normal, when using the tremolo. A device that Jeff Beck also has on his version of the guitar.
Ahhh; fk Becko still rules after all this years!
@no1wudno On the album he uses a Les Paul a bunch. He's paying tribute to his friend the Les Paul not the guitar. Les Paul was more then just a name on a Guitar. He was a musical genuis who influenced every type of guitar playing, recording and technology in modern music. Watch the movie Les Paul Chasing sound and you'll understand. Jeff Beck & Les Paul became friends over the years and Jeff is honoring that.
where's the second part?
@TreyFriend agree, first of all. He should have his amp on the clean channel. and use the bridge pickup.
Thanks!!!
the better version beautiful and better explained!!!
You are a very good player, and thanks for the music. But, 'Sleep Walk' (via Jeff beck) uses a plectrum in the tribute to Les Paul, Rock and Roll Party.
But what do I know, I'm just a drummer!
@guitarsdave same as youre icecream scoop but with a note or chord....dig it out or scoop it out from below "flat" with the whmmy bar!!
guitar with roller nut?
@no1wudno
kinda hard to play this without a whammy...
Part 2?
@vanhalenpwns isn't he always blasted ?
and the second part???
@danachonda Now you have a lespaul with a Floyd. In those days all you could get was a Bigsby and it cant do the job.
@no1wudno Jeff used a strat on the album. Cant really play the tunes without a tremolo.
@no1wudno You probably had a few of these replies but... Andy is playing a strat because Jeff uses a strat for this song. Jeff wanted to add his own flavour to the album, and not just to imitate Les Paul, hence the strat (he is Jeff Beck after all). But Jeff mainly used Gibsons on the album as you say, to remember Les Paul. So it was Jeff that was remembering Les Paul. Not Andy in this video.
How cool was that
The OG one was great, this one isn't bad. But it always makes me think of the end of La Bamba
this song remidns me to the sea :P
It would be kinda hard to do this without a vibrato. Unless you had something like a Alex Lifeson type of Les Paul with the Floyd, or had a hell of a finger vibrato, you would have to use a Strat.
nice
Rip Jeff Beck
Um, where is part 2 ?
Niiceeeeee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@no1wudno maybe it's the person Les Paul and not the guitar?
@ashleybdowney
the original has no whammy bar in it -.-
@no1wudno He used to use Les Pauls exclusively...but I mean how much does it really matter
is there a tab for this
Yes, there is! The (PDF) TAB is in the DVD "Guitar World - How To Play In the Style Of Jeff Beck", along with the whole lesson for this song and another just on Jeff Beck's style. Also, if you search for Jeff Beck TAB CD on ebay, you'll find people selling that track along with other tabs in Guitar Pro.
Sleep!
👍🧡
@vileguile4 It is but still...
ricccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhieeeeee
The Sound is supposed to be CLEAN !!! but again its Andy... always stoned.
@no1wudno It's not Jeff Beck playing in this video, so your argument is null and void.
His voice and that song... I think im high o.0
What is a scoop! I'm playing guitar 30 years I've never heard of a scoop except in my ice cream ?
@zbarneyz wow really ;p
@aaron3299 no.
@no1wudno well hes dedicating it to les paul the person not the guitar and plus fenders own gibsons
Is there anything this Guy (Andy) cant do????
this dude plays it in a very Jeff Beck way....oddly enough I saw Beck playing this with a pick and substituting most string bends with whammy bar bends...go figure.
but why?
hes so high at the start
Every one should give modest mouses enterpretation a listen.i didn't care for it at first but it's got the same dreary feel
The original is pedal steel genius
Actually not.
@TheMusicDude1997
You mad bro?
is this guy always stoned?
Sounds too fuzzy in parts. 🎸
goddamn the dude has elephant balls
Yum :)
You know he fucked up when there is a jump cut to a different part of the song.
wow hes stoned!
Sloppy. And that dude looks so baked
What's wrong with Andy being Baked.. After all he works for guitar world and is a great player in his own right. Stoned @ work creates creativity... unless your operating heavy machinery...
Dear Mr. Aledort, please narrate something--anything!
You guys should quit picking on Andy. He's a very good guitar player. Just because he looks the way he does doesn't mean he uses drugs. Shut up and grow up.
Nothing compared to Brian setzers version
This why you don’t emulate Beck!
@joseynovember Said the deaf man. Let's hear your rendition.
oh no!! it's the guy with too much junk!! X(
@TheMusicDude1997 Homophobic
Does not sound like jeff beck
Didn't sound very accurate in my opinion.
Better than Beck. But I prefer the Shadows version... and even the Ventures version.
@ThePoppster I guarantee the disrespecting comes from twenty somethings who have no idea who Jeff Beck is. Disrespect due to ignorance. Half of these kids don't realize there is music that is not death metal.
