I am 33 and from Scotland. My dad told me years ago, he said “Son, John Charles is the only player in history who was world class as a centre half and as a centre forward”. Its quite mad when you think of that now , a player who was world class in two completely different positions. Mr Charles must have been some player.
I’m only 34 and I had the honour of meeting the great man twice. Obviously never got to see him play live though of course. But being Welsh & a Leeds fan has some benefits!
Haha, I met him once too when I was 10 years old. I had no idea who he was though. My dad had managed to get us into a box through someone he worked with. We had just played very badly against QPR and I complained to him about how bad Leeds were that day 🤦♂️
Great informative video. I went to a lot of the home games in that era and remember one particular game when he shot from about 8 yards out and nearly broke the goalkeepers hand. Remember jack Charlton as well. Happy memories, still support them from New Zealand.
@Andrew Ward you forget that the big man had two spells with Leeds. Before he went to Juventus he lived opposite the stadium in Beeston (where i am now). And his second spell he lived in Middleton.
@Andrew Ward well it wasn't the first spell, cos he lived here with his wife and child. When he moved to Leeds as a young teenager from Wales, he lived in Armley. This is where my uncle lived at the time.
