I loved Black Honey mascara back in the day. I swear there was an eye quad too but maybe not. Other shade icons: Mac Ruby Woo; Nars Orgasm; Revlon Cherries in the Snow lipstick; Urban Decay Space Cowboy. Showing my age - and devotion to makeup. Must be others.
@@lesliespencer7942 they had a quad called City Lights that I LOVED!! It’s package would slide open. God I wish I could get my hands on those colors again.
They listened to me and brought back the eye pencil. When I first tried it, decades ago, I wore that pencil down to the stub. But it was a wooden pencil that I had to sharpen. I ordered a new one from ULTA. I have the lipgloss, lipstick, and lip oil. The mascara and eyeliner are due here later this week. The eye pencil did magical things for my amber brown eyes. There was also a pot gel liner back in the day, like the ones made by MAC or Bobbi Brown. You needed a slant brush.
I so much prefer wooden pencils. They almost never dry out, and are much easier to sharpen. Didn't know there were other products in the "line" also before. Wish they'd make the mascara & eyeliner permanent. Not everyone necessarily has funds to jump at a purchase under stress lk that.
For those of us who are old enough to remembr the original Black Honey, a cheek oil is a great idea. I switched to No 1 de Chanel lip and cheek balm so my fine wrinkles look less prominent.
Black Honey was my first non-drugstore makeup purchase ever. Boy, it made me feel FANCY as a teenager!! My mom was a BIG Clinique girl and thus it was the pinnacle of makeup to me in the 80s. 😂😂😂 I still like Black Honey in all of its forms. It has not reached the CT Pillow Talk or NARS Orgasm level of eye roll for me yet. I will not, however, be putting lip oil on my cheeks, but I’d love to try it on my lips! I love the Clinique liners because they last but don’t irritate my eyes. I’d try that shade! It’s pretty. The Clinique mascaras are not my favorite formula for my particular lashes, but the Black Honey color is nice! No white rabbit sightings!! My almost 21 year old daughter loves the Black Honey almost lipstick too! It’s fun how several generations of my family all love it! 💕 (My favorite Black Honey almost lipstick free sample is light blue with red lips on it. I think it was a collaboration with Kate Spade. I even have the same pattern on a freebie makeup bag! It’s so cute!)
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty There have been several!! To this day I use Take the Day Off eyemakeup Remover and Take the Day Off Balm every night. I have a LOT of free makeup bags or totes with purchase from Clinique! The Aqua background with red lip print is my favorite, but there is a cute one with a Clinique green background and cartoon drawings of Clinique products that is a close second!! (But the Black Honey travel size was only in the blue with red lips)
I remember when Black Honey came out. My mother bought it but only wore it a couple of times. She was a red lipstick lover. In the mid to late 80’s I discovered it. I remember the pot, almost lipstick and gloss. I think over the years it has evolved to have a more reddish hue. I gravitated toward black honey, eyeshadow, and lip and Revlon, the Nakeds products! Oh, I loved Bobbi Brown’s first collection she brought to Barney’s Beauty Salon. It only had lipsticks. I loved Raisin. It was a true lipstick with opaque coverage. It was very dramatic. So, Raisin became a date night lippie while Black Honey was for every day!😊
I remember wearing the pot gloss in 1979. It was my absolute favorite color. Only with this video did I learn that color was black honey. I also used there foundation that was specific for oily skin that you had to really shake up, along with the most beautiful peach blush.
I remember seeing my older cousin use the Almost Lipstick in Black Honey back in the early 2000s. I love the idea of it, but when I later bought one, I found it very drying on my lips. I really want to love it. I find it I layer one of my sheer Kaja glosses over it, it looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing the new Black Honey items.
Great rundown of it all, thanks, and I loved the history behind it! Wish the eyeliner & mascara were made permanent though, and that the Almost Lipstick was a bit more pigmented (more lk the gloss -- IMO, the lippie isn't anywhere near "almost lipstick"). I do have an age old (and backups) of Maybelline's Smoked Kohl eye pencil in Brandied Raisin though (one of my all-time faves; also prefer wooden pencils, as the other type always dries out so fast and is a pain to sharpen properly!) so guess I would be set on the eyeliner at least. The Lip Oil blush was disappointing however -- on my screen it looked completely blended away after each time it was applied.
I gotta tell you that unfortunately I completely agree about the lip oil it blends away too quickly. It’s pretty on the lips but on the cheeks it’s just kind of in glowing and that’s it
I will never forget the massive excitement when one of the designers where I worked back in the 90s came back from a trip to Paris with a bottle of Chanel’s Rouge Noir nail polish! We all went wild 😂
Everything looked lovely on you very pretty so 90’s. I felt on your cheeks it gave a real flush shade no bruise but you could see the shine personally i don’t mind it. I was wondering if it was very much like the Benefit lip & cheek tint. I would definitely pick up this collection.
Hi lovely Rebecca !! Just catching up been a very busy week . Love the history lesson behind black Honey . I think that was my first purchase from Clinique ❤🤗

NARS Orgasm Black honey almost lipstick first tried it in the early 90s in the thin silver bullet. Funny that it looks super bold on my lips and against my face even though it's supposed to be sheer.
Thank you Rebecca for reviewing the Black Honey products! And reminding me how much I enjoyed that shade. I used to be a diehard Clinique fan back in the day! 😂 If I remember correctly, they brought back a little jar gloss at some point in the 80s or 90s.. probably a limited edition thing.
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty if I’m remembering correctly 😂 Think they had the Black Honey & Pink Honey as a limited edition. Probably around the time those pot glosses were popular again
I picked up everything. But the oil will be for my lips only. I am not a sticky gal. I do not own the pot, but I do have the Almost Lipstick iconic balm and I picked it up in the sample size free gift to freshen it up.

I have worn Black Honey lipstick since it's launch in the late 80's. I think it was around 1989. I loved it since day one, and no, I didn't own it when it was in the little pot, only the Almost lipstick. I think it compliments a lot of different skin tones and that's one reason it's so popular. I think the blush looks stunning on you. I don't feel that it looks greasy at all, just a nice true glow. I do love, by the way, the fact that you take products outside in the ''warm California sunshine" . I find that extremely helpful. Think I'll try the skin oil. Making a mascara limited edition is pure evil
Good point. It’s like don’t try it and don’t get addicted to it
@@NotFitforPrintBeauty most of us are looking for an everyday mascara we can use forever. luckily limited edition products sell out immediately so i'll likely never get to try this mascara in the first place. blessing in disguise lol
😭
But the the limited edition is the annoying aspect!
Completely agreed
I love Clinique Black Honey. It’s the perfect color for my lips. Hope you are well, I’ve had a major life crisis recently and haven’t been able to purchase a lot of makeup. It’s all so depressing. Take care.
Always put things into perspective, it truly helps. Just enjoy make up hunny 😊
I’m so sorry you’re going through rough times. 💕
