    Wow. My first thought was cool! Instead everyone trashes him for having a high-end system that does not meet their criteria for a high-end system. Macintosh is a solid audio company. Yes extra expensive. To each his own. Somehow if he had had a more reasonably priced system I bet the comments would still be trashing the system saying he doesn't know anything about being an audiophile.

    His system works fine for him. There are speakers today selling for several hundred thousand dollars each. There is the factor of diminishing returns beyond a certain price point. As long as he enjoys his system, that's all that matters.

    • @That_Puppet
      @That_Puppet 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Diminishing returns happens around the $1000 mark not the $100,000 mark. This is just spending money for the sake of spending money, those speakers dont even seem angles right to maximize the acoustics of the room and position of the listener

    • @dtracy03ss
      @dtracy03ss 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @That_Puppet 100% Don't agree, if you put a 1000 dollar complete system together you will have a so so China Fi , unreliable weak Bass system.
      In Reality 10,000 to 15,000 will probably get you a very Decent sound without the Whole System being made in China and if Someone Studies and puts some Effort into it ie hunts the Good Deals, buys the correct components and puts together " Their Type of Sound" they should have a pretty cool and reliable Rig. I'm talking new with warranty by the way and no Room Correction. After that, the Deminishing Starts, but sound will still be improved all the way to the SKY! Most people wouldn't be able to tell a difference if Blind A/B Tested after 50k, ( "Most" )
      IMHO! Fallon we won't discuss!!!!

      I think that's where I would put most of my effort and money into is room acoustics. Not that I've ever listened to super expensive audio gear (other than say an Imax theatre setup etc) but paying tens of thousands of dollars for turntables and phono cartridges is just a farce. No one can tell me a $300 Blu-ray can't outperform the specs of these over-priced cartridges and turntables.
      I'm not that impressed with stereo recordings these days. I've listened to so many awesome surround sound recordings that almost always make the two channel versions sound lame.
      Good for Jimmy having more money than any man can spend. It's better to waste it on expensive audio gear than drugs or sleazy broads. 😂

    McIntosh has a niche, but loyal following like the Greatfull Dead. People into the build quality or a particular sound like it. Usually, they don’t spend a lot of time listening to other gear. Like Dead Heads. This has resulted in it being one of the top selling brands worldwide.
    I wouldn’t pin Jimmy Fallon as a Macintosh guy. But I’m not a fan.
    While working in a high-end stereo shop in the 80s I met Tom Cruises’ buyer. He didn’t go out himself to shop for much of anything she said. This person was a professional shopper. My guess is Jimmy Fallon also had a person like this.
    IMHO that Sim Audio is an odd match for that system but, like Jimmy it’s Canadian. Macintosh is American. So perhaps choices were made based on politics not system synergy.
    Keeping with the Greatfull Dead analogy also explains why audiophiles respond as they do. Most music aficionados, apart from Michael Fremer, don’t like the Dead.
    If Jimmy, or his buyer, had chosen a brand of gear that’s all the same, but better regarded, something like Audio Research or even all Sim Moon, which would have been a better, less obvious choice, he would have earned more respect. IMHO

      Don't bother with these people. The only thing that they know (or think they do.) is the amount of money that has to be spent.
