I was playing The Elder Scrolls Online & my character on it is a werewolf with the Pack Leader skill, with it when you transform you automatically summon 2 wolf companions, a white one (arctic wolf) & one with the colors of a fox. The fox one got me curious to see if there was a real wolf, well canid like that, & surprisingly there was, the Manned Wolf. Now this made me wonder did Bethesda/Zenimax just added the fox colors on that wolf model for fun or that they got inspiration from the Manned Wolf (except the long legs).

I'm actually browsing maned wolf videos specifically for werewolf inspiration in my ESO-based writing! That's a fun coincidence. I think ZOS probably went with the bright red on the second summoned wolf for the same reason they went with black (was it white when you made this post? It's black now!) for the first. Because the white werewolf with the black wolf and the red wolf all stand out nicely from each other in combat so you can tell who's where. In terms of the pit wolf, they're noted as a Reach breed of fighting dogs--pretty far from the graceful Brazilian fellas irl, so I doubt there was any maned wolf inspiration. Probably just a nice striking design they whipped up to be more appealing than an irl red wolf!

This is a mix of a Hyena, Wolf, Deer, and Fox. God Was very thankful for us supporting animals and created them all together making a majestic beast we will treat with respect. I love foxes, wolves, deers, and hyenas! And God Has created a amazing living beast. Thank You, God and Jesus. :]
