    Great editing! It's really crazy to me how such a simple thing such as clearing the drains could have prevented so much damage to the floor. I'm also glad to hear SOMETHING is trying to work when you hit the switch on the roof. My family and I love the videos, really interesting content that someone like myself, a car noob, can follow and understand. Looking forward to the next episode!

      Wow appreciate the compliment. I’ve been really trying to produce something interesting and not to derivative. Thanks for watching!

    My drains were clogged as a result of the ram seals failing and the hydraulic fluid spilling into the drains and eventually collecting enough debris to clog them. It flooded and soaked the floor carpet but I pulled everything out and dried it up and luckily there was no damage to the immobilizer unit that is mounted under the seat. I had the rams rebuilt and everything works great.

      You'll see in part 2 that I did the same thing. :) Thanks for watching!

    Wish I'd have seen this video months ago. Though it's been out there over a year, this video brought up some more recent and expensive memories. I have a 2000 996 that I purchased earlier this year knowing it needed new top rams (after enjoying a requisite discount on the purchase price). Shortly before I took it in to get the top repaired, my rear view mirror fell off, taking a chunk of the windshield with it ... almost exactly like I see on your windshield at the 06:40 mark in this video. I'll start following Pepper a bit more closely.

      My mirror falling off may have caused the crack in the windshield too. Not sure though. Yeah Pepper was a mess. Mostly everything is repaired. Just cosmetic now. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for this excellent video. I have been watching many online, but none are as thorough and informative as yours. I am working on a customers 2004 911 cabriolet, first the LH cylinder was leaking (initial repair), but after that replacement I found the RH side flap cover motor is faulty. I am hoping once that is replaced, that's all it needs. Thanks again.

      Wow what a coincidence! I just dropped a new video on repairing the flap. It’s a bit high-level but may be useful. Thanks for the kind words and keep up the good work! 😎

      @@YogisGarage Question for you: After you repaired the system, did you clear the fault codes and warning light on the dash? Did you have to recalibrate the system with Porsche-specific readers? I read somewhere that the codes must be cleared and system reset in order for it all to work. I am hoping that once everything is repaired, the system will clear itself. I have VAGCOM, Torque Pro, and lots of other hardware/software for tuning cars - but nothing specific for Porsche. Thoughts?

    • @YogisGarage
      @YogisGarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@saulrivkin7323 you have to use a Durametric to recalibrate. Or take it to someone with that or a PIWIS. Good luck!

    There’s a threaded bar in the tool kit that screws into one of the lug bolt holes to facilitate tire changes, especially useful when putting them on.

      @YogisGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wish I had it. I have the kit but that tool and the headlight tool were missing.

    When you raise the rear clamshell manually, you will disable the motor that raises it. There’s a micro switch at the back of the screw that when you turn to raise the clamshell manually it screws in first which will turn off the switch. You need to remove the screw and use loctite to set it three turns in.

      Okay I am in an almost similar spot. My hydraulics were fixed on my '99 c4 cab. Top currently opens and closes properly but when clamshell part happens during both, clamshell does not open fully, it opens about 95%, and closes 95% when roof is lowered so that it does not sit flush with body. I was thinking to adjust this Allen screw but I am very wary. What would you suggest I do, or any writeups I could follow? I do not want to trigger a calibration.

    If you remove the hook assembly in the front of the top you need to set the gears on timing marks similar to crankshaft to camshaft timing marks. Use a nine volt battery to spin the gears until the marks line up.

    Having done a full rebuild on a new beetle convertible ragtop it’s interesting to see how similar the mechanism is. Look forward to the next episode.

    Awesomeee video!! Rams on my '99 c4 cab were rebuilt, top works fine. But when lowering roof, clamshell completes 95% of the closing cycle and stops there, so that it is not sitting flush. Should i attempt to fix this by turning the allen screw you used to emergency open the clamshell? I really dont wanna throw the top into any sort of calibration issue, but nothing else is visually wrong.

    • @YogisGarage
      @YogisGarage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      something could be physically stopping it from closing. Check the little flaps on the clamshell. Not the ones near the roll bars but physically on the clamshell. My turbo gets hung up ALL the time.

    The screw for raising the clamshell top behind the rear seats seems very difficult to turn, is this normal? Ben

    • @YogisGarage
      @YogisGarage  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. It’s supposed to have loctite on it. And you’ll do it again once you’re done with the project.
