Salem's Lot gave an entire generation of kids the shits, I remember it well and I've got it on Blu Ray, it's still worth a watch. Blazing saddles is another goody and I also remember the Godzilla cartoon and the bloody theme tune, I'm sure it was first screened during Swap Shop on a Saturday morning. I got a few bits and pieces too this past month, eventually secured a SNES, picked up a few Level 9 adventures for the C64 and Amstrad and also got a few Atari 7800 titles as well. I've got my eye on another machine but I'll exercise caution in case I forget to bid or get outbid at the last second as per. Great vid as usual!!!!!👍

Interesting point you make there about the visual similarity of the cave women in all those films/games. I can't say I ever noticed myself... ahem... Didn't even know there were British versions of Godzilla and Kong. I love that there are some proper nice people that collect/buy similar old rubbish to me like RetroBear and RepairBear (and yourself of course). Loving the comparison videos as well, I am always rooting for the Atari version although I know you are on the TI99 Side.
They weren't strictly versions of Godzilla and King Kong, but certainly heavily influenced. You can watch Gorgo on youtube, great film if you like that type of thing. You can find a trailer for Konga on youtube to give you an idea what you've been missing😄 Yep there's plenty of us old farts collecting this stuff, although I guess the slightly later retro gaming scene is more popular. I've really enjoyed doing those comparison videos, they're only a bit of fun but I've tried to be fair even if I will always be biased as the TI99 was my first home computer so naturally nostalgia pulls me that way. The Atari 800 must've been an amazing computer to own back in the way, so many brilliant versions! Cheers for watching mate.

Those godzilla tapes look amazing. Such great artwork. And the cardboard sleaves look nicer than clamshells. Barbarella classic. I used to go to a pub in Leeds that had a giant barbarella poster bitd and made me look put for it for some reason. Haha. Some cool creatures features as always. Pang is one of my favourite games. I think it's hard to find as people don't want to let go of it. Ive always wanted to play excitebots, shame we never got it Awesome stuff ✌️

I was saying about this to somebody else recently, while our typical VHS cases were better quality, overall I think I ptefer the American style card sleeves. Yep I do love the creature features, there are still a few on my watch list I'm waiting to pick back up. Pang was a classic so yeah you could be right there. Shame the UK didn't get Excite Bots, it really was brilliant fun and was great online too. Still a blast to play. Thanks again mate👍
I have also been collecting old movies and have picked up a few Doug McClure "classics". Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Land That Time Forgot and Warlords of Atlantis. Land That Time Forgot being my favourite of those. Can't get my kids to watch them, though, despite my insisting they are worth a watch. Maybe it's just nostalgia, and maybe they are actually terrible.

Seems vhs is back and hitting hard, seen a few channels talking about vhs ,I have a couple of boxes of old vhs films tucked away in narnia will have to dig them out
Definitely Kev, there are a few of my recent buys that never made it to dvd or bluray so it's great to pick them back up on VHS. When you have a 14" screen like I do they still look fantastic aswell. Cheers for watching mate.

VHS are so nice to collect again, that will always be a limited collection due to space but love focusing on the films I really loved and enjoy rewatching, those type of mysterious island/world fantasties are sadly a lost genre. Pang was brilliant, really surprised how difficult it was to find. Chuffed to have the boxed version of Batty, what a fantastic game that was, came on the xover if Your Sinclair. Claire is an absolute magician, I think she's who we all trust with our retro gear at this point 🙂 Cheers James👍

Although I'm not a film buff, some nice pickups there. Some of the cover art looks amazing. So I'm going admit something now, not sure I've ever seen any of the Godzilla films, somrthing I probably should rectify while I have some spare time at the moment. The Vectrex story is such good one for both of you. Great video mate.
You've never seen any Godzilla? Wow. If you're going to watch just some I recommend starting with the original '54 which is still flawless, then maybe jump to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla '74, followed by The Return of Godzilla '84/'85, and more recently Minus One which is a masterpiece. The chewits muncher was great wasn't he?😅 Konga was a different film to King Kong, basically the British version, well worth a watch mate. Gorgo was classed as the British Godzilla but no actual relation, cracking film that one and is on youtube if you fancy watching it. Ah nice one Scott, we often seem to share similar taste in films. I absolutely adore all those old trapped in time fantasies, especially if they had monsters in them. Can't tell you how much I've been enjoying going back to these old classics. The Godzilla cartoons were great, I remember I even had a t-shirt with a pic similar to that cover art bitd😁 Will try to fix Konga, shame as was looking forward to watching it again but those noises made me nervous of doing damage. I was saying about this to somebody else recently, while our typical VHS cases were better quality, overall I think I ptefer the American style card sleeves.
Yep I do love the creature features, there are still a few on my watch list I'm waiting to pick back up.
Pang was a classic so yeah you could be right there.
Shame the UK didn't get Excite Bots, it really was brilliant fun and was great online too. Still a blast to play.

I have also been collecting old movies and have picked up a few Doug McClure "classics". Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Land That Time Forgot and Warlords of Atlantis. Land That Time Forgot being my favourite of those. Can't get my kids to watch them, though, despite my insisting they are worth a watch. Maybe it's just nostalgia, and maybe they are actually terrible.

It's probably nostalgia playing a big part as I always found these films fascinating. Love watching them all again after all these years without them. They don't make films like that any more and if they did for certain the cast would be annoying.

@@Tetlee I don't know if you ever watched BBC's Red Dwarf but if you did, you might recall a line kinda lampooning Doug McClure and that line always comes back to me when I watch one of his films - like I am doing something shameful! :)
Seems vhs is back and hitting hard, seen a few channels talking about vhs ,I have a couple of boxes of old vhs films tucked away in narnia will have to dig them out
Definitely Kev, there are a few of my recent buys that never made it to dvd or bluray so it's great to pick them back up on VHS.
When you have a 14" screen like I do they still look fantastic aswell.

VHS are so nice to collect again, that will always be a limited collection due to space but love focusing on the films I really loved and enjoy rewatching, those type of mysterious island/world fantasties are sadly a lost genre.
Pang was brilliant, really surprised how difficult it was to find.
Chuffed to have the boxed version of Batty, what a fantastic game that was, came on the xover if Your Sinclair.
Claire is an absolute magician, I think she's who we all trust with our retro gear at this point 🙂

Batty was such a great game, was on the look out for the magazine tape but that was proving elusive so when this turned up I thought hey why not!

Although I'm not a film buff, some nice pickups there. Some of the cover art looks amazing. So I'm going admit something now, not sure I've ever seen any of the Godzilla films, somrthing I probably should rectify while I have some spare time at the moment. The Vectrex story is such good one for both of you. Great video mate.

If you're going to watch just some I recommend starting with the original '54 which is still flawless, then maybe jump to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla '74, followed by The Return of Godzilla '84/'85, and more recently Minus One which is a masterpiece. Honestly I like them all though.
The way the Vextrex thing panned out, I'm still thrilled about that.

Soon as i saw that muncher game i thought of the old chewits advert lee buddy 😂 the artwork on those vhs boxes is awesone bud. I never knew king kong and godzilla had different names in different places. You just reminded me i need a copy of saloms lot, like you bud that window scence scared the life out of me as a kid 😂

Konga was a different film to King Kong, basically the British version, well worth a watch mate. Gorgo was classed as the British Godzilla but no actual relation, cracking film that one and is on youtube if you fancy watching it.
Seems we were all traumatised by Salems Lot, maybe it was a right of passage through childhood into nightmares😂

I absolutely adore all those old trapped in time fantasies, especially if they had monsters in them. Can't tell you how much I've been enjoying going back to these old classics.
The Godzilla cartoons were great, I remember I even had a t-shirt with a pic similar to that cover art bitd😁
Will try to fix Konga, shame as was looking forward to watching it again but those noises made me nervous of doing damage.
