Barbra Streisand is one of the true mega stars. She has spanned over 6 decades of music. This lady has a fabulous voice & can sing many genres of music. She is a singer, actress & filmmaker & one of the few performers to have received awards in multiple fields of entertainment (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony). Love the musicals she was in especially "Funny Girl" & "Hello Dolly". She has so many great songs that were hits & she has done numerous duets with famous people.
What sets Barbra apart from so many talented singers is that she sounds the same live as she does on her records. Her vocal for this particular song is a great complement to the movie by the same title. It’s a bittersweet song about love lost. It also won an Oscar for best original song. I appreciate you saying that you don’t compare singers because they each live in their own space. I am so tired of everybody trying to compare talented artists while trying to declare who is better. Each artist stands on their own talent and should be appreciated. Those that elevate to the top do so because of innate talent and hard work. Just appreciate and enjoy.
You can see Robin Williams in the audience to the right in the front. He’s the most animated and excited. She had him at her concert at her Malibu home One Voice to help with the opening.
Yeah it's really weird how the newer generations are listening and watching this greatness without ever having seen the movie, let alone having Barbra's history as an artist (during this era) as a reference.

For a TV special in 1973 Babs duetted with Ray Charles for "Cryin Time/Sweet Inspiration". Streisand didn't have just a beautiful voice, she had PIPES. (As a bonus The Raelettes are on back-up.) It's here on The Tube. Vid is great quality.
This song is the theme song to the movie of the same name, starring Barbra and Robert Redford, so Barbra's version is the OG, but the song has been covered by many artists including Gladys Knight and Beyonce. Barbra has also performed this song live hundreds of times both in concert and on TV and throughout each of the last six decades, so I am curious as to why this particular video was chosen out of the dozens available, but still, she's incomparable on any version. The amazing thing about Barbra though is you will never hear her sing a song the same way twice. She's an artist who lives in the moment (which is why you'll never see her lip-sync to a recording), and her work is evident of that throughout. The renowned lyracist, Marilyn Bergman, once said of her, "The best singer that any lyric writer could ever have." So true... she brings you into the song like an expert storyteller. Barbra's the only artist ever to debut an album at #1 in SIX consecutive decades, and there's simply no one that even compares. Quite an accomplishment for someone who calls herself "an actress who sings" even though most would describe her as the latter first. She's just as gifted as an actor, but admits she had to work harder at that which is why she ascribes to being an actress first. Check out her iconic duet with the late great Queen of Disco, Donna Summer. I recommend the longer 7-min version. This woman can sing anything. Look forward to more from you.

P.S. Just watched Precious Wilson's version of TWWW, and although she has a wonderful voice, all the body movements and theatrics are very distracting to the lyrics and mood of the song. I think Beyonce's version is more organic, like Barbra's. JMHO

I believe Barbara Streisand is the only artist to have a number one album in six consecutive decades, from the 1960s to 2010. Pretty impressive.

This was in Washington DC at the premiere of Funny Lady and a fundraiser for the Special Olympics. Was also telecast live on ABC.
No one comes close to Barbra singing this song. The writers specifically wrote it for her to sing for her movie.
