Wholeheartedly agree with you there im surprised that he doesn't have a much larger following he's a fantastic interviewer believe me ive seen some very horrible unprofessional interviews and if you ask me he'd be far better than several others who should seriously consider a different profession. Sorry only i tell it like I see it.

Well, here it is folks: the interview that started it all. Being a big Helen Reddy fan, I approached Jim Keaton, President of the Official Helen Reddy Fan Club and Helen’s closest friend, to ask if I could interview him. He graciously agreed. The public reaction was so positive, and I still had so many questions, that we decided to do a Part 2. Well, that only spurred more demand from fans for a Part 3, and eventually for a Part 4. Moreover, the success of these shows triggered my post-retirement career as a talk show host. So in a very real way, I owe it all to Jim Keaton. Thank you so much Jim for entrusting me to facilitate you telling the story of your journey with Helen. I am forever grateful.

So you too were a big Helen Reddy fan! (I'm wondering if we're about the same age; I'm now 65 )! I actually bought the singles Delta Dawn and Angie Baby, when I was in high school. And I love love loved "Keep On Singing" when it came out. I just feel badly that Helen was treated so badly by the music industry in the 1980s. Did Jeff have something to do with that?

Yes I am a huge Helen Reddy fan. That’s why we produced a 4-part series about her. If you read her book, you’ll discover that Jeff Wald was directly responsible for ruining Helen’s career after they broke up. A vindictive, terrible man

This 4-part series were the beginning of “Harvey Brownstone Interviews”. At that time our producer Steve was just learning his craft. Our shows back then were pretty raw. But now that our production values have become more sophisticated, Steve really wanted to go back and polish up these shows with better editing (all the “ummms” have been removed) and the insertion of music clips and photos. I’m so happy you like the finished product!!!

Harvey that's what i meant when i said the level of professionalism from artist like Helen Reddy, Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, crystal gayle, Donny Osmond, regardless of what ever was going on in their personal lives they managed to keep it out of their professional work they were always respectful of their fans and public values ect, today artist canceled sold out shows because they didn't have their beverage preference and that's the truth.

Yes, the full story in Helen's book. She said in her book that #2 fixed "it" where suddenly she couldn't get concert dates (as I recall) after the divorce. She lived in the Hollywood Hills, but then moved to Santa Monica. There are at least 3 famous women who got ripped off in the same fashion by their husbands, Helen, Debbie Reynolds, and Doris Day (I'm sure there are many more). Also, in the 1970's she had "The Helen Reddy Show" (where she sang with Bobby Darin on the song If Not For You, excellent)

I loved Helen’s book. It’s so sad that #2 ruined her career. He was a dreadful man. I loved Helen’s TV show. Glad you watched this interview.

Helen Reddy means so much to me, even after all these years since her passing. Such a lovely lady, with so much talent and charisma! I fell in love with her and her music @ the time of the release of 'Ear Candy'. That was spring/summer 1977. I couldn't get enough of hearing her majestic version of "You're My World". I was just sixteen, and while all of my peers would be listening to Elton, Kiss, The Bee Gees, and Fleetwood Mac, I was digging Ms.Reddy! I love all her albums, but the one I cherish the most is her second release from '71. It seems to be her most obscure, perhaps because of a lack of hit singles, although "No Sad Song" was pressed as a 45. There were so many songs that Helen made wonderful, just by the sheer magic of her voice. "Stella By Starlight" is one tune that I do not believe anyone else could do better. And, I cannot fathom why "I Can't Say Goodbye to You" didn't enter the lexicon of musical masterpieces from the 20th century! "Thank you" both, gentlemen, for this sweet series of interviews into the life, career, and legacy of a most loved and gifted woman!

Thank you, Jim, it's wonderful to hear that she was such an incredible human as I thought she was. Loved this interview, didn't want it to end! My favorite song of Hellens was You and Me Against the World, it has a very special meaning to me!
    Thank you, Harvey! 🌼

I saw her in Los Angeles with opener Freddy Prinze Sr. 😢 My mom took me as a young teenager and after every song she would yell out, “Sing, I Am Woman!” (the only song my mom knew) . I kept saying to my mom it’s going to be her last song. When Helen sang it, my mom said, ok let’s go. I told mom I know all of these songs, let’s stay until the last encore. So glad we stayed.❤ I’m tearing up now, Harvey.

O this was so wonderful, Harvey! I don't know what it is about her; I know I always enjoyed her music. It's just a shame her career was seemingly cut short in the 1980s when she was still at full steam ahead. Jim would understand the why of all of that. Not that I even agreed 100% with Helen on things political, but she is so compelling to listen to regarding just living life, in restrospect. She's one of those people you'd give anything to have one sit down visit.
btw regarding her hits, after all this time, I just learned that I Can't Say Goodbye To You was her last Top 10 hit single. How is it I don't remember hearing it on American radio back in the day?? Can you imagine Helen recording Bette Davis Eyes in 1981?

Wonder what "it was on the cover of the New York Post of all things"means. One are the most if not the only reputable newspaper around anymore. I'm surprised they bothered putting Helen on the cover. So tired of the liberal comments.
