I make mashed rutabaga. Just like potatoes but have to boil for nearly an hour. Always peel rutabaga as they are covered in a heavy wax Alway use a very sharp knife
Hello! Homemade apple sauce is one of the easiest recipes to make. After peeling them, core and chop them. place in water and boil until very soft. Season w brown sugar and cinnamon to taste. Remove from heat and mash like potatoes. Let it cool, place in fridge overnight and serve chilled. Thanks so much for watching!😘😋☀️🙏🏾
Hello and thanks for watching. It's been a minute since I looked at this video but when I purchased them, they were described as turnips. Thanks again for watching. I appreciate your comments.😋🙏🏽
They are so very similar in looks but it is a turnip. Cook it just like I did. So good. Making another video on turnips again, too. Thanks for watching 😋👏🏽❤️🙏🏾
Hello 👋🏽 and thanks for watching! They do indeed look like rutabagas and back then (2021) I should have questioned the produce clerk more thoroughly because I remember distinctly asking if those were turnips. They had both on display and both were large as depicted here in this video. They assured me that they were turnips but just larger this time around. Again, I appreciate you watching and your comments. ☀️☀️
Thanks for watching. I agree w you. When I purchased it back then, the grocer insisted it was a turnip. Now I know. Please check out my other video “Grilled Rutabaga and other Root Vegetables “ about 3 weeks ago. Again, thanks for watching👍🏽👍🏽❤️☀️

Hello and thanks for watching. It's been a minute since I looked at this video but when I purchased them, they were described as turnips. Thanks again for watching. I appreciate your comments.😋🙏🏽
They are called turnips in the UK especially Scotland, and South Africa.
Good to know! Thanks for watching and sharing.
Those are rutabagas
That looks like a rutabaga..They are sweeter than turnips. Cook the turnip the same way??

@@SOP-ECC3VS1 nope those are rutabaga
Based on the size and the color of the interior I'd say they were rutabagas. The outside color makes them look like HUGE Turnips.
Turnips here in Scotland.
Isn't this a rurabaga? We grow turnips up north and they are white and not waxed

Yes, in agreement. I appreciate you watching as well. I did make the correction.
