Khan sahib ne apni ghazal gayaki ki kamyabi ke mutallik khud farmaye the ke ghazal ko chunnney ke liye ye samjhna jaruri hai shayar kya kahne cha rahe , mood kushi ki hai ya gham ka .Usi ke buniyad par raag chuna jate hai aur composition kiye jate hai . Isi liye shayari ka ahamiyat light classical me bahut aham hai jispar khan sahib ki mastery thi . waise classical mey bhi bandish ki ahamiyat hai gharane ki pehchan hai.
Ashok Chowdhury Saab,. What is special with the great Mehdi Hassan Saab was the fact that he could render the romantic and tragic nuances of a Urdo couplet with equal proficiency. Therefore, he could unleash such soulful and melodious ghazals with consummate ease. What is even more worthwhile to note is that in doing so, the great Khan Saab had maintained absolute control over Labz, Sur, Taal, and Loy and had never ever compromised on purity of ragas. Perhaps, that was the hallmark of this path breaking artist!

@@ankursinger102 I think the whole composition is in the Bageshri raag but Khan sahab has mixed the Pahadi raag to create expression in one Sher " Beet gaya savan ka mahina ..here Pahadi is used.

I am jealous of those people of village LUNA of tehsil Mandawa dist.Jhunjhunu state. Rajasthan,India who heard Ustad Mehdi Hassan sahab there from his childhood. Wah. Thanks to Allah. When Allah is in good mood he creates this type of legends. wah.

Perhaps, ALLAH, 'THE MERCIFUL', made the great Mehdi Hassan Saab for music alone, bestowed upon him all the attributes a ghazal singer should have and sent him to this world to enthrall us with his exploits. I consider myself extremely lucky to have born during the lifetime of the great Khan Saab! But as I'll luck would have it, l didn't see him performing live during his lifetime!

When i listen his ghazals i feel that he has that voice who can sing and dominate every Ghazal of our Legneds like Ghalib Meer Dagh Faiz Momin and so on.. He's Sheer Genius.. Best of the bests king of kings.
