She’s an international icon from Bangladesh and international ambassador for Jamdani Sharee from Bangladesh. Moreover she’s a credible singer as well.
The African rapper Oli Boy is a businessman who exports Jamdani sharee internationally.
Yes, I would also like to hear Jaya Ahsan's part without the backing vocals. As far as I know, she is a trained singer but doesn't sing that much. She focuses more on acting and guys, I have to tell you. She is an AMAZING actress! We literelly grew up watching her in dramas and movies and she still looks the same. She's been in the industry for decades now! She is, you can say, a star in Bangladesh, also in Kolkata. Now she is also working in bollywood. Bringing her in this song was brilliant as nobody expected that and it was a nice surprise. Also, she is an ambassador who represents Jamdani Saree internationally. You will always see her wearing Jamdani on important events, even on Indian award shows. Btw, nice to see you guys after long time. Cheers ❤

About her other works, I mean, where do I begin. She has done a lot of work! Movies and dramas, I can't even remember all of them 😂
From her recent works, I have seen her in Ardhangini (a bengali film from Kolkata) and Kadak Singh (a hindi bollywood film). Both of these are kind of artsy films. She doesn't work in masala/commercial kinda contents.
But my all-time favourite works from her are Debi, a psychological horror thriller, and Guerilla, which is based on 1971 war of Liberation in Bangladesh. She played the character of a spy and freedom fighter. I first watched this film when I was very young, although felt traumatised by some scenes, but I was awestruck by her outstanding acting. 🤍
For you two, if you are interested to watch some contents, I will suggest you to start with ott series like Karagar, Taqdeer both featuring Chanchal Chowdhury, I know you guys are fond of his work. Also Mohanagar is a good series. You will find all these on Hoichoi platform.
For movies, you can start with Aynabaji, its available on TH-cam. Again, starring Chanchal Chowdhury. This movie has an amazing song by Habib Wahid "Dhire dhire". Listen to it. Also, you can watch the movie Doob, starring the late Irfan Khan, it's on netflix and it also has an amazing song titled "Ahare Jibon" by Chirkut. React to that song if possible. 🤍
Jaya Ahsan: Jaya is a talented and very popular award winning Bangladeshi actress. She works both in Bangladesh and Indian film and TV industry. Never heard of her song before. I doubt if any of her song ever released in the media. She is a brand ambassador of Jamdani Saree, she promotes Saree, specially Jamdani Saree in award shows and movie premieres. That may be the reason of her inclusion in this song.

Jamdani is an intangible heritage of Bangladesh is declared by UNESCO. And it is a GI product of BD. Jamdani sharee and design can be made of 40 to 120 count yarn. Which is very thin. And Musleen is made of up to 300 count. This is another lavel. The best jamdani sharee can be sold in BDT 100k+

Thank you so much my brothers for the lovely reaction and appreciation of the music, tradition and culture of Bangladesh. Your kind words about the hard labour of the working class people in my country hit a nerve, it really touched and humbled me. This song was made in recognition of the traditional weaving heritage of my country. Bengal in particular Dhaka the capital city of Bangladesh was rich in Muslin but that was stopped during the British colonial rule of Bengal where our handloom weavers were put out of business and even punished physically by the British. Our resources were stolen for the benefit of Britain. Weaving is one of the many traditions in our country, and Bengali Jamdani saree is famous all over the world.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, Mughal Bengal emerged as the foremost muslin exporter in the world, with Mughal Dhaka as capital of the worldwide muslin trade. It became highly popular in 18th-century France and eventually spread across much of the Western world. Dhaka muslin was first showcased in the UK at The Great Exhibition of the Works of Industry of All Nations in 1851. So glad you had your head phones on because this track sounds even more better with it on, mainly because you can hear the diverse range of musical instruments and melodies coming through. Adding Oli boy to this project was a great move because Coke Studio Bangla is showing that it is not afraid to come out of it’s comfort zone by collaborating with these up coming international artists. The short-necked three-stringed instrument is called a Sarangi. It is a Mughal-era musical instrument used in Bengal. It is popularly played in many traditional Bangladeshi folk music and songs. Also, probably you have already explored, the chorus in this song - which you called super catchy - is actually "jamdani buli" - which were taught by tatis to next generation of tatis like a code/set of directions about how to weave the sarees! These are in local rural languages. Apparently, Arnob's mother helped him to discover these Jamdani buli's for this song!❤
