First of all, blown away by the Zokket voice, truly awesome work, but second of all it gave me time to read the comments, and I saw a lot of praise for the song itself. I never doubted it would be good, but I was SHOCKED by how *fitting* it felt, like not only do I really like it, but I could 100% see this playing in game and that’s arguably way more difficult to achieve. Gives me some Dry Bowser from Olympic Games vibes, which I think works really well!

This is beautiful. I love the use of the trumpet squeal at the opening of the song to tie into the lighthouse boss theme, and also the use of the Fortress Zokket theme. All of it just fits so well! Major props!
Oh man... I love when songs change base and become more aggressive and desperate with more rythm... you did it perfectly, and fitted perfectly with Zokket, my favourite character of Mario games. You did a perfect job.

This might be much but I feel like we should've also have another boss theme for the Glohmified rematches and the regular battle theme should also be replaced for something darker after Reclusa gets freed.
@@chrange9714 I think a problem with glohm bowser not having his own theme is that right before the fight he gets a cool power up scene with dramatic music playing in the background. But once the fight starts it just plays the regular boss theme (which I don’t think is serious enough for the situation). Essentially the problem is the tonal whiplash of what plays before the fight and what plays during it. Of course it’s perfectly fine if you disagree.

Yeah, I agree that Zokket should have his own person battle theme. The song you made here works perfectly, but I was thinking of remixing the theme that plays when you fight the Gobblick, the Sharpcask, the Pipegunk, and Bowser's Glohm-contaminated form in there, too. Speaking of Bowser, I think the Koopa King should have the boss theme from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story as his personal boss theme.

Zokket is definitely my fav thing to come out of brothership and I absolutely loved the game, definitely my new favorite m&l villain (even if it’s a really close three way tie with Antasma and Reclusa for that title.) I do wish he got more screentime as the main antagonist AND ESPECIALLY his own theme. This does that perfectly! The leitmotifs are awesome and it also fits Zokket’s character to a t! Splendid work here!
Honestly, his attacks were pretty top tier in my opinion. I specially like the one where he traps one of the brothers in a triangle, and how he reacts when you free them from mind control

If I _were_ to do it, I probably wouldn't go for that. Hideki Sakamoto never referenced any of Yoko Shimomura's past M&L work, so it wouldn't be stylistically congruent with the rest of Brothership's actual OST imo.
@ Okay I’ve done some thinking. Considering Wayaway Isle’s theme is basically the SMB3 fortress theme, how about a battle melody of that? I can see the Bowser’s, Airship and boss theme motifs from SMB3 being applied here! And I know Hadoko never referenced Yoko’s work before, but I think a motif from Everyone Attack from Superstar Saga’s remake being sprinkled in can work well.

I'm glad I found this so soon after beating the game. As much as Sakamoto did a good job taking Shimomura's torch, I couldn't help but feel this game had the Bowser's Inside Story problem of too few unique boss themes. Leave it to people like you and Mayro to fix that, I suppose.
This was something that bothered me IMMENSELY when I played Brothership. I was sorely disappointed that Bowser, The Extension Corp and Zokket didn't get their own battle themes. The first two? I can understand a bit more, but Zokket was the main antagonist before the absolutely amazing end game and deserved his own battle theme. This fills that hole well and I would love an extension so of it, and hopefully someone could mod this into the game as well. Fantastic work!
I was a bit skeptical since usually ML fan boss themes sound nothing like the game’s music. But this is really good, I like the more battle remixed version of the Fortress Zokket theme. Superstar Saga had few boss themes out of necessity but I feel like ML’s become too comfortable using minimal battle themes (not a huge deal but still).

Really well done battle theme. Zokket has the same issue as the darkstar in the original BIS. They're still a normal class boss but they also don't fit the regular boss theme at all. This theme does an amazing job fixing that though, incredible work

I really like this battle theme for Zokket. It’s a bit ominous while also being a bit triumphant. I also like the militaristic vibe near the end, which fits for Zokket’s strategic and calculating side. I’m a bit interested as to why the encounter theme for Zokket and the Extension corps isn’t used.
Thanks, glad you liked it! As for why I didn't use their overworld encounter theme ("Zokket's Extension Corps,") I actually _did_ consider it early on in the concepting phase, but realized fairly quickly that it wasn't a good fit vibe-wise.
There's a Discord server that has potentially known knowledge about how unrealengine works with moding. Because of that, brothership is built up from that.
this theme is peak and perfectly represents zokket: lonely, focused, ambitious and with a clear goal, it matters not if he lives or dies if he can succeed and bring back reclusa. which contrasts with cozzete, who would put her friends and family before her, after all, she was the wattanist who kept concordia together, and tried to defeat reclusa herself to help mario and luigi, as well as spare connie the pain... fitting, they both are dedicated to their goals... but only one is willing to take their time, the other rushes and focuses purely on the goal. also, i'm waiting for the kirby fan community to finish the star dream framework to begin making fangames... so can i use this song once it's finished and i can begin my projects?
Yeah it's a real shame. Defo glad I got to do my own rendition of one as a result, but I really wish that had been one of the lessons learned from BIS DX (and an oversight that I hope isn't made again on any future M&L games.)
As said in the description, the name was actually @/cosmic_oof's idea! I tend to suck _major ass_ at naming, like... anything. So I DMed them on Discord, and they gave me a few name ideas after thinking it over, and I wound up going with that one. :3

The Fort Zokket usage here only reinforces my mental ties between this game and Bomberman Land Touch 2 (Find it on the seven seas, it's only a few hours long)
Genuinely stupid that Zokket didn't get his own theme, I can get why Bowser didn't, he didn't have one in dream team, but Zokket is the fuckin main threat and he didn't get one.
Well I will say one thing while this is a great idea and great fan effort and theme I am also fine that zokket doesn’t have a theme as I don’t see it as that big of an issue for a series not specialized in unique boss themes as paper Mario is
Glad you enjoyed the track! As for the rest of your comment, I agree... to an extent. There are a lot of bosses in Brothership that didn't need their own battle themes, so the "normal" boss theme worked perfectly fine. ...But for Zokket especially? No he _needed_ to have one, given how the game increasingly builds his presence as the story's main villain right up until the big twist with Reclusa after his fight. Zokket NEEDED his own track to give the battle a sense of finality, thus allowing the twist to pack a bigger punch than it already does.
In some ways, yes! This track admittedly inspired me a ton, to the point I was able to finish it in about 3-4 days of production. But some stuff still did trip me up, such as the chords in the Soli-tree section. Had nothing solid to base em off of from the actual motif, so I had to construct em from scratch myself lol.
If it's one thing a GOOD community can do well, it's making little fixes towards games that can be simply addressed without any modding. in this case it's by making a theme for Zokket so that others can simply turn off the audio from the game (or just the music) and then play this in the background. While yes i was disappointed in there being no theme for Bowser, it didn't really bother me with Zokket...that was until i heard this theme and realized "Oh yeah! This WAS a missed opportunity!"

No, it's actually the staccato string part from "Final Gambit," the name that I gave the track that first plays when you have to flee the Glohmatic Quadray. Can hear the resemblance now that you mention it tho lol.
I understand the wish of a dedicated Zokket battle theme. It would've been cool. Personally, though, I gotta say, I love that they went for the lighthouse boss theme. Like with Dark Fawful, in the remake, while not necessarily worse just different, the fight feels totally different. Quite menacing and brooding. In the og game tho, it feels fast paced and threatening. Maybe it's nostalgia bias, but it hit different for me when it was Dark Fawful and Dark Star with the normal boss theme. So, when I got to this battle, while yes, I thought that Zokket deserved a theme of his own, the normal boss theme just hit different for me again. It elevated the more threatening and tense parts of the song while the hype upbeat feel of the theme just soared beyond the roof in this fight. To me Zokket did not disappoint That said, I like this fanmade battle theme and Zokket's dub voice
I can see where you're coming from to a degree, at least with Dark Fawful and Zokket. Inside Story's boss music, while having some serious parts, has a strong wacky feel to it that fits Fawful well enough but doesn't really fit the Dark Star imo, given that it's an entity of pure evil - there's not really much wacky about it. In Zokket's case, Brothership's major boss theme has a really strong sense of determination to take down a strong enemy, which is a feeling that fits Zokket's battle. However, I believe characters like Zokket and Fawful should have their own unique boss themes not because the regular boss music is unfitting per se, but rather just on principle. They're the major villains of their respective games, and their climactic clashes deserve themes to call their own.
Maybe for Glohm Bowser at some point, but the first Bowser fight on Wayaway is honestly just fine as it is. It's like the Bowser fight in BIS (and BIS DX) using "Tough Guy Alert!" and doesn't require a unique theme.

I'll work with whoever I want to work with, please stop telling me to get in contact with Juno Songs, MOTI or any of those guys. Have nothing against em, but I'm tired of having em brought up to me as default options to work with. Also please, _stop asking me to make a Bowser theme._ If I do it, I do it. And being constantly bugged about it doesn't help me work up any amount of musical motivation to do it.
I don't know if im asking for too much, but can you also make a theme for Glohm Bowser? He also needed his own custom theme, since the situation story wise was WAY more serious than the rest of the game up to that point. And also, the boss theme just doesn't fit the atmosphere at all.

Probably not to be honest. If I ever got any good extension ideas I'd consider it, but the actual arrangement of the phase 3 track (which I call "The One and Lonely") is just fine and fits the Reclusa fight nicely.

I really like this battle theme for Zokket. It’s a bit ominous while also being a bit triumphant. I also like the militaristic vibe near the end, which fits for Zokket’s strategic and calculating side. I’m a bit interested as to why the encounter theme for Zokket and the Extension corps isn’t used.

As for why I didn't use their overworld encounter theme ("Zokket's Extension Corps,") I actually _did_ consider it early on in the concepting phase, but realized fairly quickly that it wasn't a good fit vibe-wise.

There's a Discord server that has potentially known knowledge about how unrealengine works with moding. Because of that, brothership is built up from that.

Yeah it's a real shame. Defo glad I got to do my own rendition of one as a result, but I really wish that had been one of the lessons learned from BIS DX (and an oversight that I hope isn't made again on any future M&L games.)

As said in the description, the name was actually @/cosmic_oof's idea! I tend to suck _major ass_ at naming, like... anything. So I DMed them on Discord, and they gave me a few name ideas after thinking it over, and I wound up going with that one. :3

The Fort Zokket usage here only reinforces my mental ties between this game and Bomberman Land Touch 2 (Find it on the seven seas, it's only a few hours long)

As for the rest of your comment, I agree... to an extent. There are a lot of bosses in Brothership that didn't need their own battle themes, so the "normal" boss theme worked perfectly fine.
...But for Zokket especially? No he _needed_ to have one, given how the game increasingly builds his presence as the story's main villain right up until the big twist with Reclusa after his fight. Zokket NEEDED his own track to give the battle a sense of finality, thus allowing the twist to pack a bigger punch than it already does.

In some ways, yes! This track admittedly inspired me a ton, to the point I was able to finish it in about 3-4 days of production. But some stuff still did trip me up, such as the chords in the Soli-tree section. Had nothing solid to base em off of from the actual motif, so I had to construct em from scratch myself lol.

If it's one thing a GOOD community can do well, it's making little fixes towards games that can be simply addressed without any modding.
in this case it's by making a theme for Zokket so that others can simply turn off the audio from the game (or just the music) and then play this in the background.
While yes i was disappointed in there being no theme for Bowser, it didn't really bother me with Zokket...that was until i heard this theme and realized "Oh yeah! This WAS a missed opportunity!"
Heya this is awesome and definitely fills the void for the lack of an actual boss theme for Zokket (which was definitely disappointing) but i have to ask would you be willing to try to make a boss theme for the Extension Corps like I was fine with them having the mid-boss theme when you fight them since it fits pretty well but I'm curious to hear what you would think a hypothetical boss theme for them would sound like and i would mention Glome Bowser but literally everyone has mentioned he should have his own theme at least once so it be redundant at that point to mention it again so yeah anyway have a good day
I wouldn't be opposed to giving it a shot if I ever get the inspiration. Will fully admit tho that my desire to do music has been a bit spotty lately, so it might not happen. This track in particular just had a lot of factors line up that had me really wanting to do this one.

No, it's actually the staccato string part from "Final Gambit," the name that I gave the track that first plays when you have to flee the Glohmatic Quadray. Can hear the resemblance now that you mention it tho lol.
I understand the wish of a dedicated Zokket battle theme. It would've been cool. Personally, though, I gotta say, I love that they went for the lighthouse boss theme. Like with Dark Fawful, in the remake, while not necessarily worse just different, the fight feels totally different. Quite menacing and brooding. In the og game tho, it feels fast paced and threatening. Maybe it's nostalgia bias, but it hit different for me when it was Dark Fawful and Dark Star with the normal boss theme. So, when I got to this battle, while yes, I thought that Zokket deserved a theme of his own, the normal boss theme just hit different for me again. It elevated the more threatening and tense parts of the song while the hype upbeat feel of the theme just soared beyond the roof in this fight. To me Zokket did not disappoint
That said, I like this fanmade battle theme and Zokket's dub voice
I can see where you're coming from to a degree, at least with Dark Fawful and Zokket. Inside Story's boss music, while having some serious parts, has a strong wacky feel to it that fits Fawful well enough but doesn't really fit the Dark Star imo, given that it's an entity of pure evil - there's not really much wacky about it. In Zokket's case, Brothership's major boss theme has a really strong sense of determination to take down a strong enemy, which is a feeling that fits Zokket's battle. However, I believe characters like Zokket and Fawful should have their own unique boss themes not because the regular boss music is unfitting per se, but rather just on principle. They're the major villains of their respective games, and their climactic clashes deserve themes to call their own.

No. If I _were_ to make a Bowser fight remix, that would not be congruent with Hideki Sakamoto's stylings in the Brothership OST.

Maybe for Glohm Bowser at some point, but the first Bowser fight on Wayaway is honestly just fine as it is. It's like the Bowser fight in BIS (and BIS DX) using "Tough Guy Alert!" and doesn't require a unique theme.

Probably not to be honest. If I ever got any good extension ideas I'd consider it, but the actual arrangement of the phase 3 track (which I call "The One and Lonely") is just fine and fits the Reclusa fight nicely.
