i just went through this on 2 channels and had them both demonetized from reused content. i deleted hundreds of videos and millions of views. Although i was mad for like 2 seconds, it's gonna make my content better. Use to do more original content and got i guess sort of lazy or comfortable doing what i saw other people winning at so i thought i would join the pack. So for me i'm glad it happened so i can refocus on better content. So if this just happened to you or before it happens start changing your content asap and stay as consistent as you was previously because your views will take a hit as well and it takes 30 days after the reapply date for a review.......they saw my new content and i was back monitized within a couple of days.....😁 hope this info helps somebody😁

@@vidIQ Hi, sorry to bother you but I need help. I have a channel that have achieved 1000 subscribers, 4000 public watch hours in last 12 months, no copyright strikes, and 2 step verification, so I basically got green ticks for everything that TH-cam ask me to do in order to monetize the channel and the "apply now" button has now appeared in the monetization page. However, when I click on the "apply now" button, it gives a short message saying "Gain access to use this feature. This feature in not available for this channel right now." That's all, nothing else, no instructions, no options or whatsoever. Could you possibly know the reason to this? I have ask TH-cam about this through the "send feedback" feature but have not got any reply and I couldn't think of anything else which brought me here.
To add on, I also have my ID verified, the settings in my TH-cam Studio clearly states that advanced features are enabled and under it includes being able to monetize the channel. Thank you for your time and hope for your reply soon.

The problem is that there are many channels who make 100% original content content who still get hit with the "duplication bug" because it seems to be entirely automated. I see it happen all the time on Twitter and it only gets fixed when a bunch of bigger channels retweet and raise a fuss to get a human to actually look at the channel.

This happened to my channel just a few days ago. I don't even use other creators content, rather I make everything from scratch and my whole channel somehow got demonetized for "reused content".
After working hard on my channel for about 9 months and being monetized for about two weeks I suddenly got a mail from TH-cam out of nowhere telling me a lot of my videos are reused content from other creators and therefore the whole channel will be demonetized. No warnings or anything like that, just a raw cut and a "bye bye, try again later".
Yes, I am a faceless channel, but still, that's not an excuse to suddenly with vague reasoning just demonetize it. I have exactly 0% other creators content. I only use some carefully chosen "meme sounds" for my videos, no music to avoid copyright claims and so on.
I sometimes live stream my latest content in a "looped playlist" style of showcase to reach new audience because the algorithm seems to only favor me in that regard. Many big channels do this kind of "repetitive" streaming, and I have not seen that it's against the rules to do it. Still, if this was the reason; they can not send a mail vaguely explaining that I am demonetized because I more ore less stole content from some other person, which I of course did not do.
This whole process messed up both my pacing of the uploads and the will to even continue. I mean, what if you are at your all time high view peak and expecting a nice revenue when TH-cam all of a sudden just feels like demonetizing you for no apparent reason.
I am currently in an appealing process for this whole thing. To be honest, with this I have lost some respect for this platform. Feels like Mafia methods where they just can cut you short whenever they feel like it and it just seems to become more and more strict and less and less creator friendly with time.
Just sad how they handle everything; a multi billion dollar company that can't even detail what exactly went wrong and what content was copied from what content.
Edit: A quick update, my channel just got re-monetized. The appeal went through pretty quickly because I asked them to prioritize my review for the reason that I was at no fault regarding reused content from other creators. Seems like their system for demonetization needs to improve quite a bit. It is NOT okay to just cancel the monetization of a channel like this without thoroughly looking through it. The whole thing felt extremely demoralizing and I am still very disappointed.

I have a question: adding a narration makes it okay to be on youtube, but voice-over (dubbing) is not possible, how's that work? I don't have a clue, basically, it's a very similar approach, but 3 years ago youtube made me wipe out a hundred videos, (about 50 mil views) because they were not mine, but I did work on them - translating the script, voice over, meticulous mixing process, sometimes I did re-do all the SFX, and did VFX like replacements for texts on some signs, etc...
It's all gone, three years ago, but I'm still wondering. I loved making dubs. TH-cam did some experiments on the MrBeast channel to make video's audio languages multitrack available and I thought maybe it'd become a more official thing and someone like me will be able to do dubs again, directly with TH-cam or by contacting the creators, but that feature still seems like pretty raw and not available to wide numbers of people.

A few days ago my whole TH-cam channel got demonetized (without any prior warning). I suspect that 2 re-used videos might be the cause of this. I re-used 2 videos out of all 410 videos on my TH-cam channel, granting 5,5% of my total views on my TH-cam channel. Is this already enough to get your whole TH-cam channel demonitized? I'm going to appeal, and if the appeal gets denied, I will delete those 2 videos, hoping the problem will be solved. Hello, i was demonetized for reused content in october after i had the best month in all my 8 years on youtube. I was forced to wait 90 days to apply for an appeal and i deleted over 300 videos that were edited scenes, cutscenes which took a lot of time to make. I just left my lego reviews, lego showcases with music, lore videos and heavily edited tribute videos with music. When i reapplied i was denied for reused content again. Now i refuse to delete anything else because all the rest of the things are absolutely my hard work and have been on youtube for years. Why all of sudden am I flagged for reused content for my own stuff? Most of the clips I use are around 2 or 3 seconds and rarely every 10 seconds tops and directly falls into fair use and has been since I started. I've been out a job since october and haven't been payed the biggest sum i've ever earned in a month in september 2023. The only things that i can think of that are left is for me to manualy go through over 500 videos and add a unique description to each one and delete the 1 minute videos i made to be both shorts and regular videos with slight differences. Any help would be appreciated man! :)

This is exactly how my YT channel got demonetized. During the 6 years I built up my YT channel with over 3,000 videos, I learned a few things here and there. The main thing was that most of my views came from links I posted on Twitter and in Facebook groups which allowed such posts. My video with most views was about a black bear attack at Liard Hot Springs in Canada, which got 225,000+ views. I did sometimes notice which of my content the YT algorithm seemed to favor or disfavor, but as you point out it is a complex equation and ever changing. But all of the knowledge I gained here on YT is now being used to build my Rumble channel since YT demonetized me and repeatedly refuses to re-monetize me.

It's a bit like using YT as an electronic Ark for things that would otherwise never be seen again, & you actually have to put effort in to transferring, cleaning up & uploading, so it's a shame that doesn't have a separate, allowable reused section!

Getting punnshed for having permission instead of TH-cam asking you to remove the content that was on your channel for all the years and being montized even with the video.
I've been doing my best to transform my videos and removing the videos I can only imagine would be a ishue with TH-cam. But this was not my first time getting demonetization.... My first time was when TH-cam introduce the 1,000 subs and 4,000 hours.... now again for having permission on older videos.
I understand TH-cam wants to keep it fair.... but instead of shooting first on every action couldn't they kinda do like the copyright thing and tell you.
Hay we have a video we don't like.... Please remove it..... or your getting kicked out of ypp.... Getting kicked out while you're back is turned is so much more insulting. unless you're like Logan Paul going to a suicide forest to film a dead body to profit off of it.... Go ahead shoot away.... I'm surprised he still has a TH-cam channel 😳
Even though I deleted videos I'm still not feeling confident that I have actually done enough.
I'm tyerd of trying to play TH-cam police against my own channel and finding out that I have deleted some videos that are not in vilation.
And get this.... they don't even point out the videos that they're even having problems with.... That was also another one of my big issues.
I'm hoping one of these years TH-cam will make it much more easier for smaller creators to understand how the platform really work....and I'm hoping the videos that I deleted was enough to get back into the TH-cam partner program

Actually not true the reused content is not always based on something that is our fault.
I know what channel that makes substantial amount of Revenue and they took that away with reused content and it took him six weeks to get his channel back and finally they said oh yeah that was our mistake sorry about that but did he get compensated for the revenue he lost during those six weeks? Absolutely not!
The automated Bots an AI are so broken on TH-cam!
Anither example is I just got hit with this Friday I've been monetize for 14 years with no issues. I basically update people with new and upcoming attractions in Amusement industry and post point-of-use of rides and roller coasters that I have shot myself. They're being very vague and telling me I'm ree using other people's content which I'm not I have over 1,000 videos that I have shot and edited myself. Sometimes I have my GoPro mounted to my chest or Parks will sometimes allow me to Mount the camera to the rides.
There is sometimes that parts will provide us with press kits or media kits with photos and videos or if we can't shoot our own POV cuz some parks or strict we have to rely on the POV that they provide to us to post where viewers. Sometimes I edit those in a way that's different but other times they don't want us editing those videos they want us to post it as is. Out of those videos I probably have like 20 that parks have provided for me to use.
The rest of the videos have all been shot by me the problem is it is automated and for my content there could be other coaster channels out there shooting point-of-view videos which in the copyright section for my channel where you can view to see if anyone else has used your video I've had the system automatically populate that someone used my video on their Channel 100%. I look at their video and it's their own POV that they have shot. It's clearly not my video.
I also got a Contin ID claim on a video saying that it match this other person's video it was all automated and I reached out to the person and said hey this is not your video you can clearly see that I shot this video myself it's just as the visuals look too similar.
I'll switch you with the gaming channels where they're not commenting on the video I can kind of understand that that they need to add more value to it bumper my videos I do add value by adding my my intro, I have an outro, I add different pans and zooms, I add the stats and ride information Comet height requirements, add roller coaster stats as an animated banner on my videos. Also for these type of videos you don't want a commentary on and do voice over after or anyting because that's not with the videos about you trying to get people to see what the new and upcoming attraction is and if you're like oh look here comes the lift Hill or here's the drop all I'm going to go upside down, that otally ruins the contact you're trying to post.
I even did my appeal video and it doesn't even look like anyone watch the video unless when someone internally reviews it on TH-cam does it not count towards a view because if not no one viewed my video because it still has the one view that I had done myself.
Also two would I find ridiculous is once you get hit with that especially if it's their fault, they're not going to give you the revenue that you lost between all the length of time that your channel was not being monetized. Even worse if you get tonight with your appeal you have to wait 30 days reapply for the TH-cam Partner program. They say that can take up to 30 days to another additional month! And if your channel Cezanne monetized 450 days any Revenue that you earned during that month where you were or any money they're just going to blatantly steal from you!
This is so ridiculous I'm so upset and I rely on this money for income to pay my bills and things like like that because at this point I haven't been able to travel as much to film this content just because the money I do get is going straight to my bills and everything like that.
Will you should get another job or something and I actually do have other jobs that I do I'm constantly delivering food with food delivery service which is going downhill, I do wagon Rover for on-demand dog walks, boardings, and sittings.
I deliver groceries and airport bags to people and things like that and I'm still barely making it by.
I'm just so upset about this!

This will be a very welcome change, far to often creators like myself spend endless hours, days and sometime weeks working on creating content. No matter how much someone adds or changes other peoples work it still remains someone else's content and another creator should never been able make videos/money from another persons work. Straightly repurposing content is a problem but transformational content, parodies, satires, and educational content are among those that are protected by fair use. Content that means that the original audience for the piece isn't being taken away from the creator; the new media that has been made is often for another target entirely.

Unfortunately this ruins an idea of mine. I am a programmer, and I have been spending time recently coding my own custom image and video effects. I thought I'd make a channel to show off some of these effects, where each video would show a comparison of some royalty free footage before and after one or more of my effects was applied. I wanted to wite code to auto-generate these videos using a randomized selection from my effects. Unfortunately, it looks like this would violate the rule about templated and programmatically generated content, even though I've used my own creative ideas in creating effects, and spent a significant amount time writing all the code for this.

There is another issue, though, and that is there's an entire market out there of people who create content specifically for other people to use in their videos or sell content for other people to use. This only hurts creators who create content to sell or for others to use. Just because a certain video clip from Pixabay shows up in two different videos, the audio tracks, along with many other components of the video, are different. Different themes, different audio, intros, outros, etc. TH-cam considers that reused content when they really should be looking at the videos as a whole. Entire entertainment industries have been built on reused content. Services like Pluto and Reever and others like them pay to rerun content. So clearly there is a market for reused content. I can see TH-cam cracking down on people simply copying and pasting content. I don't agree with punishing people for using content that others are either providing or selling for those purposes. The copyright system is to protect creators that do not want their work stolen and reused. As far as reused content, that really should be left up to the viewers. If a channel is consistently gaining subscribers and views, then there really shouldn't be a problem. TH-cam is making money, and the content creator should be making money as well. Especially when they have permission to use the content within their videos.

See how TH-cam started with TH-cam shorts. Was like a bait for a fish to come and bite. Now that people have gotten into shorts mor and it seems to be making the rounds, they just pulled the thread and got people hanging on it with their own rules of repetitive and reuse contents.. At least, if they were able to point out the exact videos that they are basing on to demonetized a channel, that would go a long way to the TH-camr. It's like inserting a bunch of notes into an ATM and the ATM literally pushing all the money back to you that it's not accepting your notes, and that you gotta go figure it out yourself.

I'm in the utter confusion what do they consider to be reused. And with the fact that they don't tell you which exact videos they found violating this rule, you can pretty much remove all videos on your channel without knowing where the problem is. The only thing that comes to mind with the case i had is the use of stockpile copyright free images from the internet, even when they are heavily edited in photoshop, or maybe some common video editing effects. I'm 100% sure there was nothing else. I didn't use any footage or music from anywhere else! I made everything myself, and it for sure was my original work. And i had such problem 2 times already. This sounds like some absolute bias to me, and they can just punish any channel they don't like under such rule. Furthermore, in the last case they also added the "Inappropriate use of family entertainment characters" thing, which shocked me, because my channel (not the one i'm commenting from) absolutely never had anything like that! The way they describe it sounds like they were accusing me of making some animated violence or adult content, which isn't even what i was making at all! There wasn't even anything close to that. I didn't even make any "characters", and i have no idea how do they decided my content to be "family entertainment", all of this is way too vague and unclear. Which leads me to believe they are mostly using Ai or something that doesn't work properly.
And yes, i could make an appeal, but only within 14 days, which i unfortunately easily missed since i wasn't very active. But that doesn't mean this becomes less absurd.
Also by the way, 99% of the audience of my channel was mature adults.

Basically, even though I’ve been on TH-cam for over 11 years. I tried to become popular after the first five years of struggling. And then I started making fan made videos in a very proactive way. Which means I always put the video links, song titles in the description of my videos. Plus the copyright disclaimer, and when I make fan made videos for TH-camrs (Kwebbelkop, Jelly, dodgerfilms, McJuggerNuggets), I always put © whoever it belongs to like © Kwebbelkop. Surprisingly I got permission approved from all of them, and then I added a star. For example, © Jelly*, © dodgefilms*.
Sadly in early 2018, I lost 914K+ views, right now trying to rebound. Surprisingly I got my channel monetized twice, like gets approved within hours. Even though I still make my own personal videos for sure (batting cage, bowling, mini golf, gaming), it’s all just for fun.

But I now have to worry about my content getting on the wrong side of TH-cam because of some people.
As a comment has mentioned here, TH-cam used to be grown by people posting whatever they wanted. And I understand the copyright part, but this "putting everyone in a bucket" and saying you all need to do this now seems harsh. What about actually taking away real views amassed based on actions that led to these policies being needed?

There are most certainly people in the world looking to "get rich quick" and when they see this videos from "money making" channels. They watch them and do exactly what the video says. it takes like 4-5 hours of editing to put all that together... and make engaging content...
although i agree that 0 effort content shouldnt be monitised like reaction channels
(although some reactions channels give their own perspective on the content that they are watching and others just keep watching putting a fake smile)
i dont think that if someone has spent 5 hours editing a video for their audience, that they just "copied stuff from other sources"

There is already a copyright claim system for stolen content. This is just the latest case of youtube's history of committing fraud. The entire community guideline prerequisite is fraud, claiming content isnt advertiser friendly while youtube itself simultaneously persists collecting ad revenues. Just a few years ago, small creators were able to disable ads altogether until they became monetized, now the new system allows youtube to profit off your content while you wait to apply for partnership then only to baselessly claim its against guidelines (so that they can profit indefinitely). I bet there are millions of small creators like myself that were previously youtube partners only for youtube to renege on their contract and force them into a new contract in order to establish arbitrary metrics. If youtube is running ads, you are owed compensation. I cannot imagine what it would be like to work a year, earn youtube tens of thousands of dollars, only for youtube to automatically claim your content is spam at the end.

I see many channels upload exactly the same video again and again...continously thousands of times!!(probably through some automated process...but why does TH-cam allow such things...very annoying). It's tough for the creator..it's very disappointing when reused content gets millions of views while good original content of small creators gets no visibility. I hope TH-cam helps small creators more. And a nice funny Outro, Rob.
A question...Can I upload my own published video, again?

As a chlidren's animation channel I'm happy that this is happening because other animated series' like the ones you see on TV get their episodes reposted a lot and that's been my biggest fear since I started making videos two years ago when I was 8 years old on my old channel, waking up to seeing somebody reposting all my videos without permission and getting millions of views.

I'm glad they are trying to improve the TH-cam ecosystem. It means those who put effort into their work see the pay off as my videos aren't easy as it can take weeks to do some 3d projects, but it's definitely rewarding reading all the comments.

Can you do a video on Travel Vlogs, how to do it, what to focus on and similar things? Coz I have seen all of them seem to focus on food and people basically filming themselves eating! Is that the new reality now? Watch people eat?!? Sorry if my question is off topic!

Bro, they demonetized me in Dec 2020 for reused content (I created my channel in 2006!). I reapplied after a month and got monetized. Then in March 2022 they demonetized me again and I made an appeal video and got monetized the next day. Now, Dec 2022 they again demonetized me (and I have not posted ANY NEW videos on my channel) and I sent them the exact same video appeal and they rejected it!! HAHAHA This is a joke right now

Question on repurposed content. If I cut up one of my own "List of 10" videos into 10 shorts, does that become repetitious or reused content?
Some shorts have improvements that I came up with after watching the original video. Or they are outtakes that did not make the original cut. But some of them are shortened versions of my longer videos. Thoughts?

To everybody reading this, I hope that whatever is bothering you or that you are continuously worried about improves. May your mind be free of gloomy thoughts, overthinking, and skepticism right now. May clarity triumph over ambiguity. May your life be filled with peace and tranquility.

Thank you for this information. I have all original content about African ceremonies and culture but have been told my content is reused. Is it because there isn't a personal face or voice in the videos?

I think it's a good thing that youtube is doing this, because copying content is easiest thing someone can do and needs 0 effort 😕

I just recently got demonetized. All of my video clips are filmed by my crew. We focus on truck and tractor pulling. So obviously some class videos may have the same name as others, each video is different. But I got the reused content designation anyways. I put together videos of each class of trucks and tractors. Place the name of the driver and vehicle, and the distance pulled at the end. And each video is similarly laid out. So I don't know if that's what it picked up or what? I know that I spend a huge amount of time on the computer editing each video, a lot of times from two separate camera angles. I'm not sure what to do moving forward to get around this.
